After Captain Marvel grossed over $1 billion at the box office, it was only logical that Marvel would go ahead with a sequel. That said, while the movie was well-received by most people, it wasn’t the best movie that Marvel has made. So, in an attempt to shake things up, the original directors won’t be returning, and Marvel is currently looking around for a new director. Marvel is hoping to find a woman to direct the movie, and there are no shortages of female directors in Hollywood. And because Angelina Jolie is now part of the MCU, she could actually be a great pick for that job. While many of the negative reviews about Captain Marvel were from trolls who were downright sexist, there are some legitimate criticisms against the movie. The movie was directed by a duo, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and by all accounts, they did a decent job. That, unfortunately, is partially an issue.A lot of Marvel movies are kind of similar to one another, and in an attempt to diversify things, Marvel has tried to switch things up by making a character’s solo movie more unique. For example, Captain America’s movies tend to be more serious, while Ant-Man’s movies tend to be more funny.Captain Marvel, however, was kind of average overall. It didn’t really do anything to stand out from the rest of the Marvel movies. This was a safe move, but Marvel can afford to take risks. That’s exactly what Marvel did when it hired Taika Waititi to direct the Thor movies. He was a relatively unknown director, but he showed the world why he got the job in the first place.
When it comes to directors, Marvel tends to either hire people that it’s already working with, or Marvel will try to look for talent from around the world. Jolie is already working with Marvel on The Eternals, and she’s also a popular actress who has directed a few great movies, too. That said, when it comes to directing, her movies have been a bit of a mixed bag. She’s directed five movies, and one of those movies was a documentary. Most of her movies got mixed reviews from critics and audiences, but she did direct a great movie recently. In 2017, she released First They Killed My Father on Netflix, and it got great reviews. It was nominated for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA, though it didn’t win either. Since she already has a working relationship with Marvel, fans on Reddit think that she’d be a good pick for the gig. Her movies have only been getting better, and she could do a good job on Captain Marvel 2. That said, there are many more women who could get the job instead.Marvel fans don’t have a shortage of ideas on who could direct the perfect sequel for Captain Marvel. Deborah Chow, who directed a few episodes of The Mandalorian, could possibly make a great MCU movie, too. The episodes that she directed for that show were well-received, after all. After her breakout hit, Booksmart, Marvel fans are also ready to see Olivia Wilde direct a Marvel movie, and the Captain Marvel sequel would be a good place to start for her. While these two women are newer directors in Hollywood, fans also think that a more experienced director could get the job.Kathryn Bigelow, who won an Oscar for best director, is probably the most high-profile female director in Hollywood. Marvel fans, of course, would love it if she got the job, but that’s probably a long shot.

Angelina Jolie gushed this week that her 15-year-old daughter Zahara is 'an extraordinary African woman.'The 45-year-old film star adopted Zahara as an infant from an orphanage in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa in 2005.Now Angelina has showered praise on her eldest daughter during a TIME 100 video chat with Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate.'My daughter is from Ethiopia, one of my children, and I have learned so much from her,' shared Angelina during the discussion.'She is my family, but she is an extraordinary African woman and her connection to her country, her continent, her - is very, its her own, and it's something I only stand back in awe of,' continued the Maleficent actress.Angelina and her ex-husband Brad Pitt share Zahara as well as five other children - Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Shiloh, 14, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11.Over the past two weeks Brad has been glimpsed twice at Angelina's mansion in Los Feliz possibly signaling that their equation with each other was improving.A source told People this week that the couple are 'in a better place' in terms of co-parenting the children after their custody battle.'It’s taken them a long time, with a lot of family therapy, to get to this point. The younger kids go back and forth between their houses, and Brad loves spending as much time with them as possible. He seems much happier,' said the insider.Although they got together in 2005 they waited until 2014 to get married, only for Angelina to file for divorce in September 2016.Since then they have battled legally over custody and finances, with Angelina reportedly demanding more money than Brad wanted to give.Living arrangements also became a sticking point as Brad was allegedly preventing Angelina from moving out of the country with their children.'I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,' she told Harper's Bazaar late last year for their December/January issue. 'Right now I’m having to base where their father chooses to live.'Brad has confessed to having been an alcoholic before Angelina left him but he has since gotten sober, and last year a judge granted him more time with the children. The Maleficent star gave birth to Vivienne and Knox in Nice, less than 200km from her and Brad's Chateau Miraval in the South Of France.Angelina and Brad went to Namibia for Shiloh's birth and had the government enforce a no-fly zone over the area they were in.An official at Namibia's Washington embassy dished at that time: 'The government has decided that it will issue visas to journalists to go to Namibia and cover Angelina and Brad if they have consent from the parties.'

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's frosty relationship has allegedly begun to thaw. The exes, who endured a shock split in 2016 and an ugly custody battle in the years since, are in a better place now in regards to co-parenting than ever, according to PEOPLE on Wednesday.'It’s taken them a long time, with a lot of family therapy, to get to this point,' said the magazine's source. Part of the reason for the therapy is to help work out how Pitt, 56, 'could be a dad again'.Making things easier is the fact that the couple's children, Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, and Knox, 11, and daughters Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14, and Vivienne, 11 'are no longer dealing with separation issues from Angie,' continued the source. And since Brad and Angelina live close to one another in Los Angeles, 'the younger kids go back and forth between their houses.' Last last month in a DailyMail.com exclusive, Brad was photographed leaving Angelina's mansion in Los Feliz, an early sign that their equation with each other was improving. Although they got together in 2005 they waited until 2014 to get married, only for Angelina to file for divorce in September 2016.Since then they have battled legally over custody and finances, with Angelina reportedly demanding more money than Brad wanted to give.Living arrangements also became a sticking point as Brad was allegedly preventing Angelina from moving out of the country with their children.'I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,' she told Harper's Bazaar late last year for their December/January issue. Brad has confessed to having been an alcoholic before Angelina left him but he has since gotten sober, and last year a judge granted him more time with the children. The Maleficent star gave birth to Vivienne and Knox in Nice, less than 200km from her and Brad's Chateau Miraval in the South Of France.Angelina and Brad went to Namibia for Shiloh's birth and had the government enforce a no-fly zone over the area they were in.An official at Namibia's Washington embassy dished at that time: 'The government has decided that it will issue visas to journalists to go to Namibia and cover Angelina and Brad if they have consent from the parties.' Near the start of this year's coronavirus lockdowns Angelina donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry, a organization to feed underprivileged children and their families. She has worked extensively with the United Nations and co-wrote a Time essay published in March plugging UNESCO's new Global Education Coalition, which was started to facilitate remote education as schools closed around the world.Angelina has jetted around the world in service of various causes and in 2012 got special envoy status from the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees.

Angelina Jolie was seen out and about for the first time in months on Thursday. The 45-year-old actress was spotted with Vivienne, the 11-year-old daughter she shares with ex Brad Pitt, as the duo went shopping in the Los Angeles suburb of Los Feliz. The Tomb Raider star and her child each wore a face mask as Coronavirus cases begin to soar in California. Mother and daughter also took the extra precaution of donning latex gloves as they stepped out of their SUV.Jolie looked angelic in a white summer dress, worn with pink flat-soled shoes. She wore her wavy brunette tresses loose and cascading across her shoulders as the pair grabbed some pet supplies. The pair naturally had security in tow for the shopping trip. Vivienne, meanwhile, kept things simple in jeans and a gray T-shirt.Her blonde tresses were pulled back in a high pony tail as she grabbed some quarantine essentials with her movie star mom close by her side.Doting mother Angelina at one point draped her arm across her little girl's shoulder. Jolie was last seen early last month, when she was interviewed by HarpersBazaarUK, during which she discussed life in lockdown, but did not touch on the issue of her acrimonious split from Pitt. The pair famously fell in love on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, while Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston. After years of dating, they got married in 2014 before their shock split in 2016.The pair share children Maddox, 18; Pax, 16; Zahara, 15; Shiloh, 14; and twins Vivienne and Knox, 11.n the period that followed their initial separation in 2016, the pair duked it out in court over custody and financial arrangements, with Pitt arguing he'd provided more than adequate funding but Angie demanding a greater share of his $300 million fortune. The bitter custody battle is also known to have stemmed in no small part from the actress' desire to move the children abroad.Brad vehemently opposed taking the kids abroad via his legal team.Back in November last year she admitted: 'I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,' she said. 'Right now, I'm having to base where their father chooses to live.'In June last year, Brad – who admitted being an alcoholic at the time of their split but is now fully sober – secured a legal breakthrough when a judge ruled he would be permitted more time with the children. He is now believed to see them every few days. And things seem to have thawed between Jolie and Pitt recently, with the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star snapped leaving Jolie's $24 million Los Feliz home on a motorcycle last Tuesday. It marked the first time he'd been spotted on her turf since their split.
