Angelina Jolie claims she filed for divorce from Brad Pitt for the 'well-being' of their six children. The 45-year-old Maleficent actresses made a rare reference to the former power couple's split in an interview with Vogue on Friday. 'It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their healing. Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds,' she told the magazine. The Oscar winner went on to describe her children as 'six very brave, very strong young people.' Before giving birth to her three youngest children Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11, Jolie became a mom to Maddox, 18, Pax, 16 and Zahara, 15, through adoption.'With my adopted children, I can't speak of pregnancy, but I speak with much detail and love about the journey to find them and what it was like to look in their eyes for the first time,' she explained. She also stressed her belief that non-biological children should never 'lose touch with where they came from.' 'They have roots that you do not. Honor them. Learn from them. It's the most amazing journey to share,' the humanitarian noted. The movie stars met in 2004 while filming Mr. And Mrs. Smith. They married in August 2014 after 10 years together; Angelina filed for divorce in September 2016.In 2016, Brad and Maddox allegedly got into an argument on a private jet while on the way to Los Angeles, which led to Angelina filing for divorce that year. Brad was later cleared of any wrongdoing in November 2016.Soon after, the judge granted Angelina physical custody of all six kids with Brad continue to have agreed-upon therapeutic visitations with the kids. However, Brad wanted more time with the kids and continued to request it; by December 2016, he requested an emergency hearing to seal all documents surrounding the case, which was denied.By January 2017, they agreed to keep their court documents private in a joint statement but by June 2018, they headed back to court after Angelina was ordered by a judge to help repair Brad's relationship with the kids.He was given more time with the kids, according to Entertainment Tonight.By August, Angelina accused him of not paying 'meaningful' child support in 1.5 years, which he denied and claimed he paid over $9 million to her since their split, reported the outlet.By September, Angelina reportedly reached out to him to improve their co-parenting relationship. A judge granted them both legal single status on April 12, 2019 while finalizing their divorce.
The former lovebirds have agreed on a custody agreement for their kids and are sorting out property and finances, specifically who gets Miraval, their French winery and the place they tied the knot.According to The Blast, Brad filed documents to the court asking to appoint a private judge to enable their discussions to continue, a request the star agreed with. The LA County Court agreed, as long as the pair paid for the judge's time themselves, and a stipulation order was put in place to 'Extend Appointment of Privately Compensated Temporary Judge.' It was revealed in April 2020 that Brad filed paperwork for a stipulation and order about their 'education and transitional support' for their kids on March 16, according to Entertainment Tonight. The Blast revealed that the stipulation said that the former couple agreed on a 'traditional' approach for their children's education. Brad's children have been spending the majority of their time during the pandemic with their mom Angelina, 44, whose $25million home is mere minutes from Brad's mansion. Last month, he threw a party for Shiloh, attended by all of her siblings, even Maddox, who had up until recently been estranged from his father. Pitt has been working hard at mending the rifts in his family, ever since his very public divorce proceedings against Angelina began in 2016. But more recently, sources claim the exes have been 'getting on better' since agreeing on a custody schedule for their children.'Brad's kids are the most important thing to him. He tells his friends he learns so much about life from his own children,' a source told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday.'He and Angie have been getting along so much better since the custody rules have been worked out. They have come so far.'

In a new essay penned for TIME magazine on Thursday, Angelina Jolie urged Americans to view the ongoing fight for 'human rights and equality' as 'one fight' taking place across the world. 'As the burning injustice of discrimination and racism in America bursts to the forefront, we must also address persecution and oppression rising globally, depriving millions of their rights, their liberty and their physical safety,' began the 45-year-old actress.Jolie - who is special envoy for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees - revealed that 'nearly 80million' people globally 'have been forced from their homes by extreme persecution and violence, and are living as refugees.' The data, which was published by the U.N. Refugee Agency, is considered 'the highest number since records began, according to available data.''For the first time, forced displacement is affecting more than one percent of humanity, or 1 in every 97 people.'These are people fleeing attacks on schools and hospitals, mass sexual violence, the siege and starvation of whole cities, the murderous oppression of terrorist groups, and decades of institutionalized persecution based on religion, gender or sexuality,' wrote the Mr. And Mrs. Smith star. Jolie marveled at the fact that 'global displacement has almost doubled since 2010' and that 'more people are being forced to leave their homes on a larger scale in more places and at one of the fastest rates in living memory.' As to why the numbers have increased so rapidly, Angelina believes that the economic crash in 2008 'fueled hardship and anger and discontent' globally, which has led to a warped view of refugees. '...Refugees are often regarded as a burden, greeted with xenophobia and racism, and denigrated and dehumanized in politics and the media,' explained Angelina.
She went on to slam nations for not 'regarding human displacement as a temporary, man-made phenomenon we have the power to influence.''But from my personal experience the vast majority of refugees want to return home, and would do so, if their home countries were stable.'Working to solve the conflict in any one of the top five refugee producing countries, from Syria to Myanmar, would bring the overall number of displaced people down by millions.'She called out the United States for being 'quick to criticize the human rights records of adversaries' while staying silent 'when conflicts creating displacement and misery involve our allies.' 'When we start to pick and choose which countries or peoples we help, from our humanitarian assistance to our asylum policies, we ourselves are discriminating: assigning different levels of importance to different peoples, races, religions and ethnicities, violating the fundamental principle that we are all born equal.' Angelina believes that 'Americans are not taught enough to respect and admire the cultures and contributions of countries with histories far longer than our own.'And that without this 'deep understanding' of global cultures, Americans cannot 'have a truly deep understanding of [their] own history, and the acts [their] country was built upon.' 'What has become clear to me through my work is that the fight for human rights and equality is universal. It is one fight, wherever we live, and however different our circumstances might be.'There is a dividing line running across our world between those who have rights and freedom and those who do not. Who we choose to stand with, and how much we are prepared to change and to fight, should not stop at our borders,' she concluded.

The Maleficent star shares six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt.Angelina Jolie has opened up about her family's experience during lockdown in a new interview with Harper's Bazaar, revealing that during their quarantine, her youngest daughter Vivienne's beloved pet bunny had died. The mother-of-six said: "Like most parents, I focus on staying calm so my children don't feel anxiety from me on top of all they are worrying about. I put all my energy into them. During the lockdown, Vivienne's bunny passed away during a surgery, and we adopted two sweet little ones who are disabled." Discussing how the new additions to the family have helped, she continued: "They need to be in pairs. They are so gentle and it has helped to focus on their care with her at this time and on the dogs, and snakes and lizard." The Maleficent actress is isolating at home in Los Angeles with her six children, Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and just like every other parent, she's been struggling with homeschooling. Opening up about the experience in her column for Time magazine in April, she wrote: "We're all locked in, we're doing all right… Well, the two things that affect children from my view the most being out of school is of course, education, and the challenges of education." The Girl, Interrupted actress continued: "I know parents across the country are challenged with homeschool and maybe that's more a challenge for the parents than the children." The Hollywood star also opened up about her close relationship with her children and how she has learnt that it's okay not to be perfect. "Now, in the midst of this pandemic, I think of all the mothers and fathers with children at home. All hoping they can do everything right, answer all needs, and stay calm and positive. One thing that has helped me is to know that's impossible," she penned. The award-winning actress shares her six children with ex-husband Brad Pitt, who lives nearby. During the lockdown, the kids have been spending their time between their mum and dad's houses. There is no doubt that the Jolie-Pitt children are keeping themselves occupied while staying at home too. Angelina has previously opened up about her children's interests and revealed that they all enjoy learning languages. During an interview on BBC Radio 4's Women's Hour, she said: "All the kids are learning different languages. I asked them what languages they wanted to learn and Shi is learning Khmai, which is a Cambodian language, Pax is focusing on Vietnamese, Mad has taken to German and Russian, Z is speaking French, Vivienne really wanted to learn Arabic, and Knox is learning sign language."

"You don't need to bend bullets anymore. You need to bend ideas." Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov has revealed he has a unique idea in mind if he were to ever make a sequel to the 2008 action-thriller.Loosely based on J. G. Jones and Mark Millar's comic book series of the same name, the original sees Common, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie play three weaponry whizzes who train James McAvoy's meek Wesley Gibson to be an expert assassin.Rumours of a follow-up have been around since its release and now, Bekmambetov has stated that he'd be keen to do one in Screenlife, an innovative format that sees stories told entirely from the POV of a character's laptop or smartphone screens. Think Searching, or Bekmambetov's horror outing Unfriended."I cannot imagine an assassin in today's world would run with a gun. Why? He will use drones, he will use computer technology, probably," the filmmaker explained to Deadline recently. "You don't need to bend bullets anymore. You need to bend ideas."During the chat, Bekmambetov also went on to say that applying the Screenlife method has made making movies much easier during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, as actors can continue to self-isolate at home while they produce new content."During this crazy time, we have been living in Screenlife mode, and it is very organic to produce movies because they can be done while people are home in their safe place," he explained. "We are all in different cities, and we can record screens without meeting each other. It's the nature of this language, this Screenlife format, to work like this." According to the publication, Bekmambetov has just signed a 5-picture deal with Universal, off the back of the success of Unfriended, which cost around $1 million to make and made $65 million worldwide. Might Wanted 2 wind up being one of them?
