Angelina Jolie was reduced to tears when a caller phoned her on French radio to commend her for speaking about her double mastectomy. The actress underwent the preventative surgery in February 2013 after learning had an 87 per cent chance of getting breast cancer.Jolie went public with the news via an emotive self-penned piece in the New York Times called “My Medical Choice”.During an appearance on RTL radio, the caller said: ''I want to thank Angelina Jolie for having found the courage to say it. And to support this fight with all those we have lost, those who fought and who are real heroines facing the disease.''By this act of courage and bravery, by announcing her choice by assuming, she helps to demystify and popularise a subject that was taboo in France.''She is not only an extraordinary woman, but also an extraordinary mom.''''Oh my god," Jolie responded as she audibly became emotional."Thank you for this wonderful message. We are all together in this fight. Not only women, but the fathers, the sons who support us in this fight. I was myself inspired by so many women in my life that if I can in any way contribute to help others, I will.''I hope we can continue this discussion. Not only ovarian cancer or breast cancer, but all the health problems that women face. As the young woman said, talking about it removes the taboo. I think we should be proud to talk about it.''

Tell Us how to get on that list! Ethan Hawke revealed to USA Today on Tuesday, Jan. 6, that he and his Taking Lives costar Angelina Jolie still keep in touch -- via holiday cards! "Every now and then, I get a Christmas card," the Boyhood actor, 44, told the paper. He then reflected on what it was like to work alongside Jolie over ten years ago, before she had even started her romance with now-husband Brad Pitt. In 2003 (when Taking Lives was filmed), Jolie had recently filed for divorce from Billy Bob Thornton and was raising her eldest son Maddox, then 2, on her own. A year later, the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider actress would meet the love of her life Pitt, with whom she would eventually share six children. "I worked with her at a very interesting moment in her life," Hawke, 44, recalled. "It’s pretty awesome what she’s doing. People wanted her to be Marilyn Monroe. They wanted her to burn out. She was about as punk rock as a movie star could be. I loved her for it." Hawke praised the Unbroken director for her work as a humanitarian. "She’s taken all that energy and turned that into being a substantive human being," the Before Sunrise star noted. "The fact that Angelina has transcended the way the world objectified her and is making serious films, she deserves all the positive things that are happening."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's eight-yer-old daughter dresses as a boy and wants to be called as ‘John.’ Back in 2008, Pitt in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on her show revealed that even when she was just 2½ years old, their daughter Shiloh already chose to identify herself as a boy. Said he then: “She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it's a Peter Pan thing. So we've got to call her John. ‘Shi, do you want...’ – ‘John. I'm John.’ And then I'll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’ And she goes, ‘No!’ So, you know, it's just that kind of stuff that's cute to parents, and it's probably really obnoxious to other people.”Wife Jolie back in 2010 also told Daily Mail: "I don't think it's for the world to interpret anything. She likes to dress like a boy and wants her hair cut like a boy and she wanted to be called 'John' for a while. Some kids wear capes and want to be Superman and she wants to be like her brothers. It's who she is. It's been a surprise to us and it's really interesting, but she's so much more than that - she's funny and sweet and pretty. But she does love a tie..."
Now, after four years, the whole Jolie-Pitt family still addresses Shiloh as 'John.' At the premier showing of her mother's Unbroken film, her being seen and photographed sporting a short haircut and wearing a suit and tie much like those of her older brothers Pax and Maddox did serve to provoke media attention. As Pitt noted years before, their decision to support their child's choice of gender identity will have some social media users opposing and criticizing them on the issue. However, many more did agree with them. Lisa Suhay at Christian Monitor is one of those who sides with the couple. She wrote: "Jolie and Pitt are doing something very wise and brave by setting an example for other parents to get past the idea that boys will be boys and girls will be princesses, by allowing their child to explore who she is and trust they will recognize her, not by her dress, but by who she is day-to-day - their child."
