Hollywood producer attacks Angelina Jolie as 'spoiled brat with rampaging ego'

In embarrassing emails leaked by Sony hackers Scott Rudin, producer of The Social Network and The Queen, claims the star's planned remake of Cleopatra will be an "ego bath" .  An Oscar-winning Hollywood producer reportedly attacked Angelina Jolie as a "spoiled brat with a rampaging ego" in leaked emails.Scott Rudin, who produced films including The Social Network, Notes on a Scandal, Moneyball, and The Queen, made the comments in what appear to be a series of angry exchanges with Amy Pascal, co-chair of Sony Pictures Entertainment. The studio has been targeted by Guardians of the Peace, a hacking group with suspected links to North Korea, which has obtained and leaked vast amounts of information from Sony's computers. The studio has not commented on whether the emails, which were dated in February and have been widely reported in the film media, were genuine.According to the messages Rudin and Pascal began swearing at each other because Jolie wanted director David Fincher to oversee her planned remake of Cleopatra instead of a Steve Jobs biopic written by Aaron Sorkin. Rudin, pushing the Jobs movie, wrote to Pascal: "There is no movie of Cleopatra to be made (and how that is a bad thing given the insanity and rampaging spoiled ego of this woman and the cost of the movie is beyond me)...I have zero appetite for the indulgence of spoiled brats and I will tell her this myself if you don't."
He predicted Cleopatra would be an "$180m ego bath and giant bomb" and "career-defining debacle for us both" which would make himself and Pascal the "laughing stock of our industry."According to the emails Rudin added that he was "not destroying my career over a minimally talented spoiled brat" and told Pascal: "You better shut Angie down before she makes it very hard for David to do Jobs."Jolie has previously hinted that Cleopatra may be her last acting role before she moves on to become a full-time director. In the email exchanges Rudin also attacked Megan Ellison, the film producer daughter of billionaire Larry Ellison, calling her a "bipolar 28-year-old lunatic."Jolie has not responded but Ellison said on Twitter: "Bipolar 28-year-old lunatic..? I always thought of myself more as eccentric."Variety, the film industry magazine, called the emails "ugly" and did not question their authenticity. It added: "With all of these explosive comments made public it’s possible that crucial relationships involved could be damaged."In the hunt for who is responsible for the hacking suspicion has centred on North Korea. The country has expressed anger over Sony's upcoming release of The Interview, a comedy starring James Franco and Seth Rogen as television journalists recruited by the CIA to assassinate Kim Jong-un.
