Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie 'had disagreements over how to raise their six children' during their brief marriage

During their brief marriage, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reportedly butted heads over the way they wanted to raise their six children. People reports the exes had different expectations for how they wanted to raise their children - Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. The disagreements that arose due to this issue reportedly played a part in their split. While they were declared legally single in 2019, they are still embroiled in an ongoing divorce fight over assets and custody. An insider told the site that Brad, 60, sought to put more rules in place for the children while Jolie, 49, wanted their kids to 'be more independent and responsible for their own schedules from a young age.' 'During their marriage, they had very different parenting styles. Brad grew up with structure and wanted more rules for the kids,' the source told the site. 'Angie had a different upbringing and wanted the kids to be more independent and responsible for their own schedules from a young age,' the insider added. The source added that while the duo 'clashed over this', they still had the same hopes for their children. 'They did always have the same vision for their kids' future. They wanted the kids to thrive by experiencing the world first-hand and not only learn from traditional schooling,' the source said. Another insider added that the duo still 'really care.' 'They both care about the children,' the second source said. The movie stars met in 2004 while filming Mr. And Mrs. Smith and eventually wed in August 2014. However, Angelina filed for divorce in 2016 and they were declared legally single in 2019. Jolie adopted Maddox in 2002, then Zahara in 2005, a year after she'd met Pitt while the pair filmed Mr and Mrs Smith. He was married to Jennifer Aniston at the time. They then adopted Pax together in 2007, and had biological kids Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne afterwards. Pitt adopted all of the kids before they got married in 2014.The latest report comes after People reported that Pitt has 'virtually no contact' with his older children.Just a month after the actor's daughter Shiloh, 18, filed to drop his last name, a source revealed to People that Pitt's relationship with his older kids remains strained.'He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule,' the insider shared.
The source noted that the couple's custody agreement allows for visitation rights with the two minor kids.'[Angelina] has the kids most of the time, but per their agreement, he has visitation with the younger kids,' the insider added. The actor is on location in Europe filming his new racing movie F1, while Jolie lives in Los Angeles with their younger children. In June it was reported that Pitt is 'upset and aware' that his daughter Shiloh filed to drop his last name from her own on her 18th birthday.A source close to the Oscar winner said his erasure from his daughter's life is just another indication that he has 'lost his children,' according to People.'He's aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name,' the source claimed. 'He’s never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.'Notably, Pitt was already in the process of legally adopting a daughter who had been a part of his life for months before he and his then-partner Angelina had announced she was pregnant with Shiloh in January 2006.Jolie had traveled to Ethiopia to adopt her first daughter Zahara in July 2005, and Pitt had come with her on the trip.He was reported to be in the process of becoming Zahara's adopted father in December 2005, a month before he and Jolie announced her pregnancy.'The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad,' the source continued. 'He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad.'They added that the distance between Pitt and his six children 'pains him.'However, they noted that 'he’s still happy with Ines [de Ramon],' his current girlfriend.Another source described as close to Pitt told the publication that the Tree Of Life star 'still loves all of his kids tremendously.''This whole process has been very hard for the whole family,' they added.
If Shiloh's request is granted — and there is no indication that it would not be — she will subsequently go simply by 'Shiloh Jolie,' rather than her original full name, 'Shiloh Jolie-Pitt.'People previously reported that Pitt's youngest daughter Vivienne — who served as her mother's assistant when she produced the Broadways musical adaptation of The Outsiders — had listed her name as 'Vivienne Jolie' in the Playbill for the show.It is unclear if Vivienne has legally changed her name, but the minor would likely need either parental consent or extenuating circumstances to be allowed to do so before turning 18.Zahara previously introduced herself as 'Zahara Marley Jolie' when she joined the Mu Pi chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College late last year.Pitt and Jolie's oldest sons, Maddox and Pax, have reportedly not publicly used their father's last name in years, and both have been openly antagonistic toward him.Pitt and Jolie began dating publicly shortly after he and his then-wife Jennifer Aniston announced their divorce in 2005.The Mr. And Mrs. Smith costars remained unmarried for years despite having multiple adopted and biological children together, but they got engaged in 2012 and finally tied the knot in 2014.However, it was only around two years later when the Maleficent actress filed for divorce in 2016. She and Pitt were declared legally single in 2019 however they remain embroiled in a fight over assets and custody.

Angelina Jolie gushes about how close she has become to 'thoughtful' daughter Vivienne... as teen has not been pictured with dad Brad Pitt in YEARS

The 49-year-old Oscar-winning actress shares the teen with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, who has not been photographed in public with Vivienne in many years, though they may be meeting in private. It has been a difficult time for Brad and the six kids he raised with Jolie, as eldest daughter Shiloh, 18, recently dropped his last name. Before she was Shiloh Jolie-Pitt now she is just Shiloh Jolie. But Angelina stills seems very close with all the kids following her split from Pitt almost eight years ago - in addition to Vivienne and Shiloh, she also has Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and Vivienne's twin brother Knox. This week Jolie told Deadline that she is closer than ever with Vivienne. She added she learned a lot about her youngest daughter through producing a Broadway show together. The Maleficent star was introduced to The Outsiders by 15-year-old Vivienne after the teenager saw its run in California last year, and she agreed to get involved with the New York production as a result of the youngster's passion. She told Deadline: 'My daughter Viv loves theatre. 'She appreciates all theater but she certainly knows what she feels close to and what she responds to.  'She went to see The Outsiders at La Jolla [in San Diego] about five times and was telling me about it, and I had read the book, and I'd seen the film years ago.' At the urging of her daughter, Angelina revisited the material. And she began 'really watching the effect it was having on my young daughter and what she was telling me about herself. 'And I was learning what about it was important to her and why it connected so deeply to her.' The Gia star then joined the production as producer, with her daughter as her assistant. And Angelina realized doing so was 'a moment to learn more about Viv.' She explained: 'It was a very different experience of understanding, of how this is having a significant effect on her as a young person right now, and she's communicating something to me. 'And that is the power of this material.'Jolie added: 'And then I had the privilege of watching everyone work over this last year to make it into what it is, and Vivienne has been there the whole way.' The Tomb Raider star previously admitted her youngest daughter reminds her of her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, because she doesn't want to be the 'centre of attention' though she works very hard. She told E! News: 'Viv reminds me of my mother, in that she isn't focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives. 'She's very thoughtful and serious about theatre and working hard to best understand how to contribute.'
