Angelina Jolie makes glamorous appearance at film screening in NYC after another one of her kids dropped ex Brad Pitt's surname

Angelina Jolie looked every bit the movie star on Tuesday as she stepped out in New York City - just days after it was revealed that another one of her kids dropped her ex Brad Pitt's surname. The Oscar-winner, 51, was greeted by a sea of fans and photographers outside the five-star Whitby Hotel ahead of a screening of her latest film Couture. She modeled a strapless black gown with a plunging neckline and elegant draping. Her dyed blonde hair was styled in voluminous waves and she concealed her blue eyes behind a pair of aviator sunglasses. The mother-of-six accessorized with dangly gold earrings and a sleek gold wrist watch. Jolie was accompanied by several buff bodyguards as she arrived at the screening venue in a chauffeured SUV.Couture sees Jolie play an American filmmaker who ventures to Paris Fashion Week where she learns she has breast cancer. The film is deeply personal to Jolie, who underwent a preventative double mastectomy back in 2013.She did so after discovering she carries a genetic mutation that dramatically increases the chance of being diagnosed with potentially fatal breast cancer. The mutation in her BRCA1 gene left Jolie with an estimated 87 per cent risk of breast cancer and 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer. She lost her mother Marcheline Bertrand to ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. Her grandmother and aunt also passed away from cancer. Jolie mentioned her late mother while speaking to PEOPLE on Tuesday, with the star admitting that she 'would have given anything to have [her] mother alive to be there for her grandchildren.' She also gave rare insight on her emotional well-being as she revealed how Couture 'resonates' with her. 'The film is not about an end for my character but rather about a renewed desire to live life until your last breath which particularly resonates with me at this time in my life. 'I am not sure I was strong enough even five years ago to do this. To be open and trusting to share and be vulnerable again,' Jolie said. 'Things happen in life that take us off path. We lose ourselves and we feel isolated.' Jolie praised Couture as a 'beautifully written piece about women from different countries' and that she believes the film 'has something to say that [she] thought could be useful to people.' She said it shows 'how everyone is dealing with things that make us very human, and that if we can figure out how to live through challenges by leaning on each other and having more empathy towards one another, the better and less alone we will be.' Jolie also made sure to applaud director Alice Winocour for approaching 'the stories of the women in Couture with sensitivity and hope.' Couture is set to hit theaters on June 26, less than a year after it made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. Jolie's NYC outing comes shortly after it was revealed that her and Pitt's youngest son Knox dropped the actor's last name from his high school diploma. The 17-year-old removed the last name of Pitt as he graduated from Fusion Academy in Los Angeles earlier this month, per Page Six. Instead, the teen's name was simply listed as Knox Jolie on the official certificate.
Knox was cheered on by his mother Angelina Jolie at the graduation ceremony as well as brother Pax, twin sister Vivienne and sister Zahara. Pitt and Jolie were previously married from 2014 until their divorce became legal in 2019. And in late 2024, it was revealed that the former couple had reached a divorce settlement following a lengthy, eight-year battle. The two stars share three biological children Shiloh, 20, as well as twins Knox and Vivienne. They also share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22 and Zahara, 21. It was also recently revealed by InTouch that Pitt and Jolie's daughter Zahara was making legal moves to remove Pitt from her last name. The next day, TMZ obtained a petition Zahara filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, where she asked for her new legal name to be Zahara Marley Jolie. She has not been using Pitt's last name for many years. Pitt was notably absent from her name when she joined a sorority at Spelman College three years ago. And in May, Zahara did not use the name Pitt when graduating from Spelman College. Jolie had also been in attendance at the ceremony. Another source told TMZ that Pitt thinks Jolie is keeping their children from seeing him. Jolie and Pitt were raising six children together before she filed for divorce in 2016. Their kids Shiloh, Maddox, and Vivienne have also stopped using Pitt's last name. It is not known if Pax has stopped using the name as well. It was confirmed by the Daily Mail back in May that Maddox requested to legally remove 'Pitt' from his surname. He is changing his full name to Maddox Chivan Jolie and listed the reasoning as 'personal.' Back in 2024, Vivienne also dropped her dad's last name in a Playbill credit for The Outsiders. That same year, Shiloh dropped Pitt from her name shortly after her 18th birthday. At the time, a source told the Daily Mail: 'He knew this was coming and there is nothing he can do about it right now.'It's sad but Brad's strained relationship with his kids and Angelina is just a way of life for him now.' However, the insider further explained that the actor has always left the door open if his estranged children wanted to reconnect. 'He respects Shiloh's decision. He loves her and no matter what happens, he is always only a phone call away. 'He will be there for Shiloh and any of his kids whenever they need, no questions asked. But it's up to them to make the next move.'A separate source stated that Pitt 'knows that, with some of the other kids who are not biologically his children, they do not understand and may never allow him back into their lives.' Back in 2016, Pitt and Jolie's relationship came to an explosive end after the pair got into an alleged physical altercation while on a private flight with their six kids. Jolie later claimed that Pitt 'choked' one of the children during the horrifying dispute and 'struck' another in the face, leaving her and the kids feeling like 'hostages' and cowering in fear under a blanket for hours until they landed. She also alleged that he grabbed her by the head, slammed her against a wall, and violently shook her at one point during the flight - which resulted in her injuring her back and elbow. Pitt's rep called Jolie's account 'completely untrue' to CNN at first, but then released an amended statement to the publication that read, 'Angelina's story continues to evolve each time she tells it.'Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did but will not for things he didn't do. He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation. 'Thankfully, the various public authorities she has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions.' The statement at the time also read, 'Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done.' The F1 actor has been romantically linked to Ines de Ramon since 2022.

Angelina Jolie is seen portraying an American filmmaker diagnosed with breast cancer in a trailer for her heartbreaking new French-speaking film Couture. The actress, 50, plays Maxine Walker, who arrives in Paris to make a video for a fashion event - but despite being uninterested in the industry she needs the money as she is going through a divorce, has a teenage daughter, and is preparing to make her next film. Shortly after her arrival, Maxine receives a heartwrenching breast cancer diagnosis and throughout the film her relationship with her body and identity plays out. Angelina recently revealed she was drawn to play the role as Maxine's battle to make her breast cancer diagnosis not become her entire personality reminded her of her own mother's feelings during her illness. It was this luminous perspective that touched me and made me want to play this role.'
In May 2013, Angelina had both breasts surgically removed, and then underwent a reconstructive surgery, after discovering she carries a genetic mutation that dramatically increases the chance of being diagnosed with potentially fatal breast cancer. The mutation in her BRCA1 gene, left the mother-of-six with an estimated 87 per cent risk of breast cancer and 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer. In March 2015, she also had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed as a preventive measure against developing ovarian cancer. The Unbroken director lost her mother, Marcheline in 2007. Her grandmother and aunt also passed away from cancer. In an interview last month, Angelina called for making BRCA screenings available to every woman. 'Every woman should always be able to determine her own healthcare journey and have the information she needs to make informed choices: genetic testing and screening should be accessible and affordable for women with clear risk factors or a significant family history.''When I shared my experience in 2013, it was to encourage informed choices,' she added.'Healthcare decisions must be personal, and women must have the information and support they need to make those choices. Access to screening and care should not depend on financial resources or where someone lives.'The Maleficent star published a lengthy opinion piece, titled Angelina Jolie Pitt: Diary Of A Surgery in the New York Times explaining her decision to have her fallopian tubes removed.According to Angelina, she had been planning to undergo surgery to remove her ovaries and Fallopian tubes for a while at the time, but a call from her doctor made the procedure more urgent.A blood test detected potential anomalies linked to the protein CA-125, which is used to monitor ovarian cancer, Angelina's doctor told her, urging the actress to see her surgeon, who also had treated her late mother.'I went through what I imagine thousands of other women have felt,' she wrote. 'I told myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I wouldn't live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren.'She noted that she chose to keep her uterus because there is no history of uterine cancer in her family.Angelina has previously spoken of the void in her life that her mother's death had left - a pain that led her to taking the brave decision to have a double mastectomy, so her children may not have to experience the pain she did.The actress's aunt, Debbie Martin, then died of breast cancer at the age of 61 less than two weeks after Angelina revealed she had undergone her mastectomy.

Angelina Jolie, 50, getting back to her action roots by starring as a GANGSTER in 'violent' film... after shock trip to Ukraine

Angelina Jolie is set to star in Sunny. The Maria actress has begun production on the dark thriller, which follows a female gangster who fights to protect her sons from an abusive drug lord, but is left with just hours to plan a permanent escape following a traumatic event.Eva Sørhaug is directing the film for Gramercy Park Media, A Higher Standard, and Nickel City Pictures, from a script written by William Day Frank based on a story they conceived together.Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures hailed Angelina a 'tour-de-force'.The producer added to Deadline: 'People are going to be shocked by what she brings with this riveting character. 'This violent world that Eva and Angelina have crafted is grounded in survival and family led by a mother doing anything and everything within her power to protect her two boys.'Gramercy Park's Nathan Klingher agreed: 'Angelina has made this role uniquely her own. Strong, character-driven thrillers like this are rare, and the attention to detail that she and Eva have brought to the film is impressive to watch.'Angelina won praise and a string of award nominations earlier this year for her role as opera legend Maria Callas in Maria, but she previously admitted she 'lied' about her singing skills to director Pablo Larrain in order to land the role. She told Variety: 'I had never sung. I had somebody once tell me I couldn't sing or be a little dismissive when I was singing once, and it really shut me down.'I never told anybody, but it was part of my life that I just blocked. And then when Pablo asked me to do this and asked me if I could sing, I lied.'Can you ride a horse?' 'Yes.' Obviously, nobody can sing like Maria. No one. But I'll do my best.'
Angelina previously admitted she was convinced she could bluff her way through Maria's singing scenes until she had her first lesson with a music teacher.According to Best magazine, she said: 'I made the mistake in the beginning of thinking, when he asked me to sing a little, I like movie singing.' This comes after her early November trip to the Ukraine where she got near the front lines with the country's war with Russia. According to the Legacy of War Foundation, Jolie was shown how medical and educational institutions in Ukraine's frontline regions have been relocated into reinforced underground spaces to continue their operations. The Kherson region is partially occupied by Russian forces on the left bank of the Dnipro River. Kherson city — on the opposite bank of the river — is constantly targeted by Russian forces due to its proximity to the occupied area and therefore limitations of Ukrainian air defences.'The people of Mykolaiv and Kherson live with danger every day, but they refuse to give in. At a time when governments around the world are turning their backs on the protection of civilians, their strength, and their support for each other is humbling,' Jolie said in a statement released by the foundation.
