Angelina Jolie was seen in the first trailer for her movie Maria. The 49-year-old star is playing famed opera singer Maria Callas. The clip starts with Maria in her older years walking onto a stage with a man seated at a piano. Jolie's Maria looks out at the empty seats as she flashes back to her earlier years. There is a quick montage of her looking younger and gorgeous. She is also seen on a yacht with Aristotle Onassis, her former lover. Then she is seen in Paris, crying, having a meltdown in a courtyard, and working on her voice. She is not heard singing, however. The film, according to a synopsis, 'follows the American-Greek soprano as she retreats to Paris after a glamorous and tumultuous life in the public eye.' Maria 'reimagines the legendary soprano in her final days as the diva reckons with her identity and life.' She died in Paris in 1977 of a heart attack at age 53. The highly anticipated movie will come out in theaters in November then stream on Netflix in December.Netflix is set to release the film in U.S. theaters on November 27 before it debuts on the streaming platform on December 11. It is a massive undertaking for the star. Speaking at a press conference for the movie at the Venice Film Festival, she said: 'I was terribly nervous; I spent almost seven months training. 'My first time singing, I remember being so nervous. My sons were there and they helped to block the door [so] that nobody else was coming in, and I was shaky. 'And [director Pablo Larraín], in his decency, started me in a small room and ended me in La Scala. So he gave me time to grow. I was frightened to live up to [Callas].'
Angelina joked that, after making the movie, she might even get involved in karaoke nights in the future. Asked if she has a favourite karaoke song, she quipped: 'I didn't sing before this [movie] so I haven't done karaoke, but now maybe I have a few!' Jolie revealed earlier this month that she loved to sing but stopped after an ex criticized her voice. She did not name the cruel ex.The actress - who was previously married to Johnny Lee Miller, Billy Bob Thornton and Brad Pitt - admitted her role as opera singer Maria in Maria was challenging because she had to overcome her fears about airing her vocals in public. She told The Hollywood Reporter: 'It was an out-of-body experience because I don't sing. 'I had somebody in my life who was not kind to me about singing. It was a relationship I was in. And so I just assumed I couldn't really sing. 'I'd been to theatre school, so it was weird that it even had an effect on me. I just kind of adapted to this person's opinion. So it took me getting past a lot of things to start singing.' She told IndieWire last week she wasn't very familiar with opera music before she began shooting Maria. The Oscar-winning actress confessed: 'I grew up in America. In other countries, they understand how essential and important it is, and it's much more a part of the culture, but not where I was raised [Los Angeles]. 'I had been introduced to [Maria] but it was a complete discovery of this new art form, to come in and transform my life and teach me all of the different operas. 'I hope that most people however they relate to the film go into a discovery and they let themselves feel it and they try to sing it. If I can do it…'
Angelina recently revealed that she spent 'months' preparing to sing in Maria. The actress said at the Telluride Film Festival: 'I had seven months of opera classes, great teachers and Italian classes, and a supportive team that were going to help me. 'When I was younger, there were certain pieces of music and certain sounds that matched what I was feeling: I was falling in love, or I was curious about this, or whatever I was going through. 'There is nothing that meets what you're feeling like opera,' added the movie star. '[Some pieces] are so beautiful, so full of hope and so full of yearning. 'Opera is bigger. It is bigger than we allow ourselves to feel in every moment.' Angelina - who has Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, with Brad - recently thanked her sons for helping ease her nerves about singing in the film. Netflix is set to release Maria in U.S. theaters on November 27 before it debuts on the streaming platform on December 11.

On Monday, Netflix announced it will start streaming Pablo Larraín's biopic Maria - starring Angelina Jolie as the legendary opera singer Maria Callas - on December 11 after hitting select US theaters on November 27.But first, the 49-year-old Oscar winner will reunite with the 48-year-old Chilean filmmaker for a post-screening Q&A at Alice Tully Hall in Manhattan during the New York Film Festival next Sunday and Monday. The 122-minute movie - which received an eight-minute standing ovation in Venice on August 29 - will then screen at film festivals in the Hamptons, London, Chicago, and Los Angeles.Maria currently has a 75% critic approval rating (out of 44 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes. It marks the third and final film in Pablo's trilogy of iconic women, succeeding Jackie (2016) and Spencer (2021), which scored both Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart Oscar nominations.Angelina has already received Academy Award buzz for her portrayal of the New York-born Greek belter, who rehearses for an imagined performance that never comes to be as a camera crew led by Stranger Things star Kodi Smit-McPhee films her.Jolie - who had never sung onscreen or in public - spent seven months training with vocal coach Eric Vetro; whose clients include Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter, John Legend, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Rosalía, and Charlie Puth. And while Maria is mostly set in the seventies, the former Hollywood wild child appears to recreate Callas' (born Kalogeropoulos) 1958 performance at a Paris gala, which was broadcast through Eurovision.
Two-time Oscar-nominated prosthetics designer Arjen Tuiten was hired to transform Angelina's face, but she still appears to have her own tiny nose rather than the characteristically large one Maria had in real life. The Maria ensemble cast also includes Valeria Golino, Haluk Bilginer, Alba Rohrwacher, Pierfrancesco Favino, and Alessandro Bressanello.Callas' powerful soprano pipes had three distinct registers and measured just short of three octaves, and she performed her final concert in 1965 following a decline blamed on everything from dermatomyositis, to early onset menopause, to her extreme 80lb weight loss in 1954.Maria - who had an affair with Aristotle Onassis while he was married to former FLOTUS Jacqueline Kennedy - spent her last 11 years living in Paris after renouncing her American citizenship, and she died at age 53, from a heart attack in 1977.It marks Jolie's first acting role since Chloé Zhao's dismally-reviewed 2021 MCU flick Eternals. The Tony-winning producer has similarly scored a 33% critic approval rating (out of 12 reviews) for her fifth feature directorial effort Without Blood following its September 8th world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Angelina Jolie was joined by her son Pax who showed off his gruesome forehead scars on their first red carpet since his horror e-bike crash just days after they were seen in public for the first time. The 49-year-old A-lister and her 20-year-old son Pax posed together as they hit the red carpet premiere for her film Without Blood at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday night.Pax, 20 - who suffered 'complex trauma' in the collision with a car on July 29 in LA - sported an arm cast under his black suit jacket. He was classically dressed as he also sported matching trousers, tie, and patent leather dress shoes with a crisp white dress shirt.Pax also accessorized with a pair of black sunglasses as he was arm-in-arm with his famous mother. Angelina oozed of old Hollywood glamour as she sported a slinky sleeveless black gown with matching gloves which went over her elbows. The mermaid skirt covered her matching heels as she sashayed down the red carpet. She wore her blonde locks straight down in a middle-part as she accentuated her porcelain skin with complementary make-up.The event for her film was star-studded as leading lady Salma Hayek stunned in a wine-colored gown at the gala event. The film starring the 58-year-old Mexican star is centered around a parable-like tale exploring themes of family, war, and revenge. This comes just days after Pax was seen for the first time since his horror e-bike crash in July as he stepped out with the actress in LA on Wednesday. On the outing he sported an arm cast and a bucket hat emblazoned with 'Miracle' as he continued his recovery with family.
It came as estranged father Brad Pitt, 60, attended the Venice Film Festival with age-gap girlfriend Ines de Ramon, 34.Pax looked in good spirits as he spent quality time with his mother at lunch in Beverly Hills weeks after the accident. Angelina wore a cream top, cardigan and slacks with tan heels for the outing. Her locks were worn in a sleek ponytail and she sported chic shades. Angelina has been by Pax's side at the hospital since he crashed into a car during rush hour in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. A source told TMZ that witnesses who lived nearby initially believed Pax had died in the crash as they discovered him lying lifeless on the ground. It was not until paramedics arrived at the scene that Pax regained consciousness. Page Six is reporting that this was not the first time the young man has been involved in incidents involving two and four wheeled vehicles. 'His friends are concerned about him,' an insider told the outlet alleging, 'He's being reckless. They're worried.' 'He has had a string of car crashes,' the source asserted. 'It's not great. Pax is a troubled kid, and Angelina is doing her best to help him.'The publication reported that LAPD sources said there was nothing new to add to the initial report of a traffic collision, when asked if charges might be pending. Responding police and paramedics opted to rush Pax to the hospital after he complained of head pain. Despite his injuries, TMZ's source claimed that Pax's bike did not show any obvious signs of damage.Pax — who like several of his other siblings is estranged from his famous father — had reportedly been driving down Los Feliz Boulevard around 5 p.m., which put him on the regularly crowded street during rush hour traffic.
According to law enforcement sources, he had been coming up to an intersection when he crashed his bike into the back of the car, which had already stopped for the red light. The car's driver reportedly did their duty by getting out and checking on the injured Pax before police and paramedics arrived.Although it's not clear exactly where he collided with the car, witnesses at the scene said he complained of pain in his hip, and they said he appeared to have injured his head in the crash. In recent months, Pax has been spotted around Los Angeles riding on a Talaria Sting R MX4 electric bike, which costs around $3,000, though it's not known if that was the same bike he crashed. He was most recently pictured on the dirt bike on July 11.Notably, he wasn't wearing a helmet when he was pictured riding the bike in public.California state laws require all bike and motorcycle riders under 18 to wear helmets, but it's unclear if the type of bike Pax was riding at the time would have required him to wear a helmet. The crash also reportedly took place on a street near Angelina's Los Angeles residence.Angelina rushed to the hospital to be by her son's beside following the crash. Pax, who was born in Vietnam, was adopted by Jolie at age three, joining siblings Maddox, 22, and Zahara, 19. He is reportedly close to them as well as siblings Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.Maddox and Zahara were adopted by Jolie's then-partner, Brad, in 2005 and he adopted Pax in 2008.
All three of the older children have been estranged from Pitt following an incident on a private airplane in 2016, when the actor allegedly hit one of his children. No charges were filed after an investigation into the alleged incident.Pax called his father a 'world class a**hole' who makes his four youngest children 'tremble in fear' in an explosive Instagram rant posted for Father's Day 2020, DailyMail.com revealed in November. The star has found it 'depressing to see this dragged up', according to sources close to him, who went on to rubbish the claims. But in a cutting post, Pax wrote: 'You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell.''You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want,' he added., 'but the truth will come to light someday. Then he sarcastically added: 'So Happy Father's Day, you f*****g awful human being.'Jolie and Pitt are legally divorced but are still fighting over the sale of Miraval, the vineyard in France.

Angelina Jolie cut a glamorous figure while attending the Telluride Film Festival in Telluride, Colorado on Sunday, after recently avoiding a run-in with her ex Brad Pitt. The Tomb Raider actress, 49, wowed in a flowing grey dress with long sleeves, which she paired with pointed-toe heels. The star — whose ex-husband, 60, made his red carpet debut with girlfriend Ines de Ramon, 34, on Sunday — shielded her eyes with a pair of black sunglasses. While at the event she mingled with a number of celebrity pals, including actress Naomi Watts, 55. The mom-of-six — who recently broke down in tears amid her divorce war — was seen adorably petting a small dog Naomi carried in a baby wrap. Naomi opted for an effortlessly chic look in a sleeveless white tank top and blue jeans. Angelina also posed with actress Embeth Davidtz, 59, who looked chic in a long-sleeve top, white pants and white sneakers. She also caught up with Pharrell Williams, Danielle Deadwyler, Malcolm Washington, and Pauletta Washington. The star is busy promoting her latest film, Maria, where she plays the legendary opera singer Maria Callas. Her appearance comes after she narrowly missed an awkward reunion with Pitt who arrived in Venice Film Festival just days after she attended her premiere in the city. The actor looked every inch the Hollywood heartthrob as he arrived alongside his co-star and friend George Clooney, 63, at the International Film Festival. The A-listers were pictured looking dapper as they arrived by water taxi ahead of the premiere of their film Wolfs which is screening at the festival on Sunday night.Angelia's film - Maria - premiered on Thursday evening after she recently hinted at the heavy emotional toll which her divorce from Brad has taken on her.
The superstar shared that she has been through 'despair' and 'pain.' The former power couple are in the midst of a battle over their French winery, Château Miraval, and custody of their six children. His arrival came after artistic director Alberto Barbera revealed he and Angelina were strategically scheduled to avoid any chance of running into one another. He told Vanity Fair: 'Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday August 29 and she will leave right after to go to Telluride Film Festival in Colorado.''So Brad will arrive only on Saturday. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido.'It has been reported that neither Brad nor Angelina made the request, but that the event were 'wise enough to realise', claimed Page Six.Meanwhile on Sunday Brad looked dapper as he made his red carpet debut with his glamorous girlfriend Ines - a jewellery designer who he has been dating for around two years - at the premiere of Wolfs at Venice Film Festival. It was a double-date night as Brad's long-time buddy George, 63, was at the event with his wife Amal, 46, an international human rights lawyer, who turned heads in a glamorous yellow dress.Ines showed off her toned figure in a white one-shoulder number that had ruched detailing and was teamed with a silver sequin handbag and statement earrings.De Ramon, who is also divorced, moved in with Brad in Los Angeles in February this year and the couple have gone from strength to strength since. It is Brad's first serious relationship since his divorce from Angelina.Brad and Ines were first linked in November 2022 after they were spotted at a Bono concert.
Angelina split from her film star husband after a disputed incident on a plane in 2016.She has said in court documents that he assaulted her and some of their six children and poured wine and beer on the family in a rage. He has always denied being violent towards her or the family. The couple's split has also affected their six children. Earlier this month their daughter Shiloh, 18, legally dropped her father's surname. They are also parents to Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16.This comes amid recent claims that Pitt and Jolie's divorce - which has now dragged on for eight years - is still ongoing as neither of the stars can 'let it go.'A source told People 'their disagreements took over' in the relationship, adding that things 'turned nasty and it was not a good situation for anyone.''All the bitterness is partly why the divorce has dragged on for so many years. Neither will let it go. You’d think they would be over it and just settle.' Another source of recent stress for the actress has been her son Pax's terrifying bike crash, which left him hospitalized.Pax was released from ICU earlier this month, after being treated for crashing his electric bike into the back of a car stopped for a red light on Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles on July 29.He now begins the long road of recovery and physical therapy - and Angelina has been there every step of the way.Meanwhile Brad reportedly feels completely helpless his son is still refusing to have any contact with him as he recovers. An insider exclusively told DailyMail.com that Brad also wishes his family dynamic wasn't divided and that he wasn't getting 'radio silence' about his son's health.
