It will be based on Impossible Odds, the memoir Buchanan co-wrote with Erik Landemalm and Anthony Flacco.Buchanan was kidnapped in October 2011 while working in Somalia. She and her fellow humanitarian aid worker Poul Hagen Thisted, who is from Denmark, were caught by land pirates after their escort and protector sold them out.On Jan. 25, 2012, Buchanan and Thisted were freed after having been held captive for three months in Somalia. Thanks to the team of United States Navy SEALs who raided a compound 12 miles north of the Somali town of Adow and in the process killed nine Somali pirates. In 2013, the film adaptation of Impossible Odds had already been eyed for the big screen. Greg Silverman and Julia Spiro will oversee the upcoming biopic of Buchanan for Eastwood’s longtime home studio, Warner Bros.Academy Award winner Brian Helgeland will write the screenplay of the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It is a drama film about the Afghanistan war focusing on the story of Air Force Major Mary Jennings Hegar.

Angelina Jolie has bigger priorities than Halloween at the moment. Needless to say, her Maleficent costume is tempting for more than a few reasons.Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie divorce saga won’t hit the rock-bottom anytime soon obviously. Matter of fact, it’s getting nastier by the day. From child-abuse allegations to Marion Cotillard to FBI, the divorce was blown out of proportions. Their kids, however, are at the receiving end due to their parents’ misdemeanors. Their Halloween is nothing like the previous years’.People reports Angelina’s Halloween shopping from the past and in all its glory. Angie took three of her six kids to a store in California for the costume shopping. Namely, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox were seen at the store with their mother. They couldn’t possibly hold the excitement for the paparazzi. On a serious note, Disney’s Maleficent will come out as a popular choice for this year’s Halloween. The reason, however, has to do with both her divorce and the costume’s blend of beauty and intimidation. If one has to look scary and beautiful at the same time, Maleficent is the best option. It comes in black too! Angelina is trending in every circles for weeks together now. Furthermore, her ex husband is no aberration too. The trend will extend to Halloween for the obvious reasons. Apart from her, Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian are in line for a Halloween domination. Under these circumstances, Maleficent is an overt choice. The costume is readily available in the market and in a few websites even. To make matters interesting, there are DIY guidelines to make the ominous Disney character too. The guidelines cover her significant horns and the enchanted staff to its entirety. Not to mention, long nails and some make up will surely raise its stakes. Some insider sources shed light on Angelina and her kids’ celebration for the Halloween. Kids go trick-or-treating, dress up for the occasion and decorate, according to the source. Perhaps, this year’s won’t be like every other year, of course. That shouldn’t hold back the kids though. One can only hope… Happy Halloween!

Her divorce from her husband Brad Pitt is still the talk of the proverbial town, but that isn't stopping Angelina Jolie from seeking out her next movie. Most recently, she was being eyed to board Murder on the Orient Express, but she later decided to pass on the remake. Fortunately for Jolie, there isn't a shortage of opportunities coming her way, as she's now considering joining Tristan's upcoming movie Shoot Like a Girl.Deadline dropped the news that Angelina Jolie is in early talks to lead the theatrical adaptation of the book Shoot Like A Girl: One Woman's Dramatic Fight In Afghanistan and on the Home Front, which actually isn't being published until spring 2017 It's the memoir of Air Force Major Mary Jennings Hegar, the role Jolie would almost certainly be playing. Hegar served three tours in Afghanistan as a rescue helicopter pilot for search-and-rescue missions. During one of those tours, her helicopter was shot down by the Taliban, and despite being shot, she persisted and not only saved her crew, but the three soldiers they were sent to rescue, earning her a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor. The book also delves into a different kind of battle: Hegar suing the Department of Defense over the Ground Combat Exclusion Policy, which prevented women from serving in combat roles. Her efforts resulted in the policy's eventual repeal. Frank Baldwin wrote the movie's script, and once a deal with Jolie is finalized, TriStar will begin looking for a director, as they are eager to fast track the project.Even though nothing's quite set in stone yet, Shoot Like a Girl sounds like the perfect fit for Angelina Jolie. Right off the bat, you can tell the movie will be filled with action, something that the access has plenty of experience with from her roles in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Wanted and Salt, to name a few. However, it also blends in a true life story, which Jolie has dipped her toes into a little bit acting in 2007's A Mighty Heart and directing 2014's Unbroken, the biopic of World War II prisoner of war Louis Zamperini. Ideally these two elements will draw Jolie into Shoot Like a Girl, giving her the opportunity to not only play a real life hero/badass on the big screen.Angelina Jolie's most recent on-screen roles include playing Maleficent in the 2014 movie of the same name (a role she'll reprise in a sequel) and Vanessa in 2015's By the Sea, which she also directed. In the world of animation she voiced Master Tigress again in Kung Fu Panda 3 earlier this year. If adapted right, Shoot Like a Girl could be another winning tale for her resume.Stay tuned to Cinema Blend for all the relevant updates surrounding Shoot Like a Girl and Angelina Jolie's upcoming projects.

Angelina Jolie will not be boarding Murder on the Orient Express after all. Although the trade had reported last month Angelina Jolie was eyeing the lead role in 20th Century Fox‘s new Murder on the Orient Express film, Variety today reports that the Academy Award winning actress and film maker will not be booking a ticket after all for the Agatha Christie adaptation after all. With Jolie having officially passed on the film, the studio is reportedly looking at a number of other big name stars with Charlize Theron’s name being dropped in today’s article. Agatha Christie’s original Murder on the Orient Express novel was published in 1934 and is often considered one of the most ingenious stories ever devised. It revolves around a murder onboard the famous train, and Belgian detective Hercule Poirot must solve the case – but there are a number of passengers who could potentially be the murderer. Kenneth Branagh is attached to both direct and star as Poirot in addition to producing alongside Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, Mark Gordon, Michael Schaefer and Aditya Sood. Michael Green, who also worked with Scott on the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, is providing the screenplay, with Steve Asbell overseeing the production for Fox. James Prichard and Hilary Strong will both executive produce. Although several TV versions have been made, Murder on the Orient Express was previously – and most famously – adapted by director Sidney Lumet in a lavish 1974 feature starring Albert Finney as Poirot along with Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Colin Blakely, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Martin Balsam and Michael York. Angelina Jolie most recently lent her voice to the animated franchise sequel Kung Fu Panda 3. It was also recently revealed that she’ll be returning for Walt Disney Pictures‘ Maleficent sequel.
