DARK UNIVERSE Reportedly Wants The Rock For THE WOLFMAN & Angelina Jolie For BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN

It seems Universal is still high on getting Dwayne Johnson and Angelina Jolie on board to play The Wolfman and the Bride of Frankenstein, respectively, in their Dark Universe. More past the jump...Though we have heard whispers of this before now, a new report suggests that Universal is still high on getting a couple more massive stars added to their Dark Universe.According to THR, the studio is eager to sign Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson up as The Wolfman, and Angelina Jolie as The Bride of Frankenstein, which is to be the next film in the burgeoning classic monster franchise. No negotiations have taken place yet (as far as we know, anyway) so we'll have to take theses potential castings as rumor for the time being. At any rate, not convincing Johnson and Jolie to join the fun may be the least of Universal's worries, as a separate source indicates that Warner Bros. is "mulling over" legal action for the rights to the Dark Universe brand.More on all of this as we have it, but in the meantime be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

Angelina Jolie took drug tests in order to get cast in ‘Tomb Raider’

Angelina Jolie’s rebellious past almost affected her legendary career. The former bad girl had to agree to drug tests during the filming of the 2001 film “Tomb Raider” before she got the role, director Simon West revealed in Stephen Galloway’s new biography of former Paramount executive Sherry Lansing. At the time, 24-year-old Jolie was in her wild child phase, including her relationship with Billy Bob Thornton, and executives worried about her “baggage.” “She said: ‘Look, I want to do it, but I know what my reputation is, and I'll do anything you want to prove that I'm worthy. I'll be reliable, and I'll turn up, and I'll work hard,’” West said in the excerpt of "Leading Lady" acquired by the Hollywood Reporter. “She said, ‘I don't care if the studio wants to drug test me every day.’” And that’s what they did: Then-Paramount president John Goldwyn required random drug tests — urine and blood — which Jolie continually passed.“Tomb Raider,” based off the wildly popular video game series, eventually went on to make $275 million worldwide and launched two sequels, including an upcoming spinoff starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.

'Maleficent 2' Release Date, Rumors: How Likely Will Angelina Jolie Reprise Her Role?

It has been a long time since Disney's "Maleficent" hit the theaters, yet it remains to be one of the most memorable films yet, probably because it shifted the focus from the supposed protagonist to the initially thought villain, showing a deeper side to her. As such, fans are clamoring for a sequel to the movie, and it looks like the main character herself is considering her return. Many are hoping that Angelina Jolie reprises her role as Maleficent once more in the sequel.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Angelina Jolie is pondering on many acting roles this year, and one of them is reliving her role as the powerful yet kind fairy turned bad and then turned good again for "Maleficent 2." Although she has not officially confirmed this yet, it is obviously going to be met with jubilation from a huge crowd of fans. This was not the first time that Jolie was rumored to accept the role for the sequel. The Wrap has also mentioned that Linda Woolverton, who created the script for the first film, is going to write the second movie's script with the expectation that Jolie will be there again. There is no deal in place yet, however. The question on everyone's mind is this — how likely is Jolie to reprise her role? It can be recalled that she is very nitpicky when it comes to doing sequels, declining the offer for both "Salt" and "Wanted," which is probably because of what happened to the Tomb Raider franchise. If she accepts, however, then this will be a first after a very long time. She did, however, tease in the past that she could take up her staff once more, although she admits it is going to be difficult. "It's kind of hard to top her. She was pretty fun. Maybe I'll get the chance to play her again.""Maleficent" was a phenomenal success at the box office. With a $180-million budget, it was able to hit $758,536,735 worldwide, The Numbers has learned. One can expect that the sequel can, more or less, match that or even exceed it.If the rumors are true, "Maleficent 2" could possibly come between 2017 to 2019, although this year might be pushing it.

Angelina Jolie Considers ‘Maleficent 2’ and Directorial Projects Galore Amid Divorce From Brad Pitt

Not done with Hollywood just yet. Angelina Jolie may reprise her role as the titular character in Maleficent 2 and has numerous directorial projects in the works amid her nasty and very public divorce from Brad Pitt, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The site reports that Jolie, 41, will not be taking a step back from Hollywood, as has been previously speculated; instead, the By the Sea actor-director will be tackling a number of different projects in the coming year. Her most recent directorial endeavor, First They Killed My Father, screened in Cambodia on Saturday, February 18, and Jolie made headlines when she brought all six kids — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8 — with her to meet Cambodian royalty and taste-test the local cuisine, including spiders. The Oscar winner’s next projects will keep her closer to home, however, with two large-scale projects in development for Universal: an adaptation of Simon Sebag Montefiore’s Catherine the Great and Potemkin: The Imperial Love Affair and The Spy Who Loved, a World War II espionage drama based on Clare Mulley’s 2012 book.Jolie is also looking to develop what might be her next directing project, an adaptation of Alessandro Baricco’s 2004 novel Without Blood, which tells the story of an unnamed war. On the other end of the genre spectrum, the U.N. special envoy is also a producer on the Disney kid’s film The One and Only Ivan.Jolie’s last appearance in front of the camera was in By the Sea, which she also wrote and directed. Costarring her now ex-husband, Brad Pitt, the film bombed at the box office. In 2016, she lent her voice to Kung Fu Panda 3, as the character Tigress. She is also considering starring in Universal’s remake of The Bride of Frankenstein and Sony’s Shoot Like a Girl, based on the true story of American Air Force major and helicopter pilot Mary Jennings Hegar. As previously reported, while in Cambodia with her kids, Jolie opened up about her headline-making split from Pitt, 53, calling it a “difficult time.” “My family, we’ve all been through a difficult time,Jolie said during a BBC interview when asked about how she's been dealing with the stress of the divorce. “My focus is my children, our children, and it is — and my focus is finding this way through. And as I said, we are and forever will be a family. And so that is how I’m coping. I’m coping with finding a way through to make sure this somehow makes us stronger and closer.
