Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga never fought over the starring role in a Cleopatra biopic, but this time last year, a tabloid came up with that premise. Gossip Cop debunked the story when it first emerged. Time has proven it even more false. On January 3, 2019, Gossip Cop busted OK! for falsely claiming Jolie and Gaga were battling for the lead role in a movie about the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. The story was based in a degree of truth, as Jolie had been developing a Cleopatra movie for several years. The fiction came as soon as the magazine threw Gaga’s name into the mix.An alleged insider told the outlet that following the success of A Star Is Born, Gaga was being offered a ton of film projects, but she wanted to star in Cleopatra “more than anything.” According to the supposed source, Jolie became furious after learning that the singer was trying to steal her role. “Both ladies are prepared to try to outdo each other by any means possible,” said the anonymous tipster.Gossip Cop reached out to Gaga’s spokesperson when the tabloid’s article was first published. Despite what the unknown “source” claimed, the singer’s rep assured us she wasn’t circling a Cleopatra biopic. Instead, Gaga launched a Las Vegas residency, which runs through May 2020. As for her film career, it was announced in November that Gaga will be starring in a movie about the Gucci family dynasty, which will be directed by Ridley Scott. There’s not a single Hollywood trade that has attached the singer to any Cleopatra biopic. It should be noted, there haven’t been any updates on the proposed Cleopatra movie for more than two years. Shortly after we debunked OK!’s article, Jolie signed on to star in the upcoming Marvel movie, Eternals. Although it’s possible the Cleopatra biopic will go into production at some point in the future, Gaga was never involved in any capacity, nor was she battling Jolie for the role.Despite Gossip Cop setting the record straight back in January 2019, OK!’s sister outlet, Star, decided to get in on the action as well. In late January of last year, the magazine made up a story about Bradley Cooper co-starring in the Cleopatra movie alongside Gaga. The A Star Is Born co-stars weren’t reuniting for a project that’s basically nonexistent at this point in time. We look back at stories from a year ago to show how fictional tabloid reports don’t age well. This one involving a casting showdown between Jolie and Gaga is a perfect example.

'She stole my ideas to paint herself like she's helping the world.' Angelina Jolie's deaf sign language teacher claims the actress ripped off her pitch for the first deaf superhero for film Eternals - after star picked her brain 'like a lab rat'

Angelina Jolie's deaf former employee claims that the A-list actress stole a movie idea from her, and that she was treated 'like a second class citizen' during her three years of employment.Jolie, 44, employed Antoinette Abbamonte to teach American Sign Language (ASL) to two of her six children between 2016 and 2019 in California.Abbamonte, 53, who also works as a film producer/actress, tells DailyMailTV that the Maleficent star 'looked down on her' and stole her idea of creating the first ever deaf superhero for the upcoming movie Eternals, set to release November 2020. 'I thought that [Jolie] was stealing my ideas to paint herself like she is helping the world,' Abbamonte said. On September 13, 2019, Abbamonte's attorney Michael Ahmadshahi, PhD, sent an official demand letter to Jolie's legal team, claiming intellectual property theft. The demand letter states: 'It appears that you expressly solicited the idea of the Deaf Superhero from Antoinette and commercialized it together with Marvel Studios and Disney without compensating Antoinette.'The letter also calls for Abbamonte to be given credit as well as be compensated for her idea, which she submitted to Jolie, seen in emails obtained by DailyMailTV. In a telephone conversation conducted through an ASL translator, Abbamonte, who now resides in California, said: 'She [Jolie] treated me like a second class citizen.'Eternals features the first ever deaf superhero, named Makkari, played by The Walking Dead actress Lauren Ridloff.'That's how I feel [and I want to] announce to the world that you can't treat deaf people like that.'She completely wrote me off,' she said. Abbamonte, who has been deaf since birth, claims that during one of their interactions Jolie repeatedly asked her if she could hear music playing and if she could dance.'This was offensive and ignorant,' she said.'You can't treat deaf people like they're worthless and look down on them.'Abbamonte, a mother-of-four, says that Jolie became increasingly interested in her personal life story as a deaf person, which led to the two women discussing film ideas.'She started asking all of these questions that she never seemed interested in before, and started acting funny,' claims Abbamonte.
She said she is now experiencing 'emotional distress due to the negligence on the job site'. Abbamonte said the the family tested her 'like a lab rat', and both Jolie and her children 'always asked me which movies I like and discuss them. 'Again, I felt like they were picking part out of me to aide their upcoming film with deaf character.' She said that Jolie would even roleplay with her in order to gauge Abbamonte's reactions and get ideas for the deaf character's scenes. 'I would tense every time [Jolie] tried to get more information from me'. Abbamonte claims that in May of 2018 she emailed Jolie the idea of a deaf superhero. In July 2019, at San Diego Comic-Con, the cast for the latest superhero movie The Eternals was officially announced by Marvel Studios and Disney. It features the first ever deaf superhero, named Makkari, played by The Walking Dead actress Lauren Ridloff.'I asked Angelina straight up, how did this happen?' Abbamonte claims.'[I asked] did you take my idea?''She responded by saying ''the universe works in mysterious ways.'''I felt like she was totally hypocritical and I asked her twice ''did you have this idea before or after I started with you and the kids?'' And she never answered.'It's not that I want personal credit, I just hate how deaf people across the board are being treated.' The demand later, addressed to Jolie, states: 'From early on, you and your kids were not only interested in her sign language but also her own personal life story as a deaf person. 'At least on one occasion, Antoinette brought her own son to your home to meet you and your kids during her lessons. You also requested of Antoinette to keep all communications confidential.' The letter says that Jolie 'sought to receive as much information from Antoinette about her deafness as you could.''It appears that you wanted to endear yourself to the deaf community and sought to learn as much as you could from Antoinette. More importantly, it appears that you were expressly seeking ideas from Antoinette about a potential movie role for a deaf character for compensation,' it adds. Jolie's team has not responded to DailyMailTV's request for comment.

They star in an upcoming superhero film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And Salma Hayek took a moment to sing praises of her co-stars with a sweet, behind-the-scenes snap shared to Instagram Wednesday morning. The 53-year-old actress admitted she was 'lucky' to work alongside Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani in The Eternals, which isn't scheduled for a release until November 2020.Salma stood in the middle of Angelina and Kumal for the quick, star-studded selfie for her 12million followers.'Gosh am I so lucky... I thought I was just going to be working with great actors playing aliens,' she wrote. 'Little did I know, I was going to befriend amazing human beings.' She also relayed the message in another language for her Spanish-speaking followers: 'Que suertuda soy, pensé que iba estar trabajando con buenísimos actores interpretando extraterrestres, y resultó que también me hice amiga de maravillosos seres humanos.' The trio join Kit Harrington, Richard Madden and Bryan Tyree Henry (to name just a few) in the upcoming flick from the MCU.But first, Salma works alongside Tiffany Haddish and Rose Bryne in the female-led comedy Like a Boss.Haddish and Byrne play best friends who sell their beauty line to a conglomerate with Hayek playing an over-the-top beauty CEO. To get in character, Hayek told InStyle that she wanted to try something she'd never tried before — Botox and fillers. 'At first, the part was a very straightforward, ambitious businesswoman,' she said. 'It was fun to work with Miguel and the writers to create an actually crazy character.' The Mexican-American bombshell explained that she wanted to look fake and over-the-top as CEO Claire Luna. 'First, I wanted to do Botox and inject my lips, which I've never done,' she revealed.Since Botox can't be reversed she put the kibosh on that plan and decided to ask her friend and dermatologist Dr. Maurice Dray for lip injections.'He put the first needle in my mouth, and I immediately said, "No! Forget it! I'm done!" Like a Boss hits theaters on Jan. 10 and InStyle magazine's January issue will be on sale Dec. 20.
