Angelina Jolie may be one of the biggest stars in the world, but that doesn’t make her a diva. The 40-year-old happily wheeled her own suitcase as she arrived into LAX airport on Tuesday, with the four eldest of her six children.Angelina was joined by Maddox, 14, Pax, 11, Zahara, 10, and nine-year-old Shiloh, and the kids all wore their own backpacks. Not seen were the actress’s husband Brad Pitt and their seven-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. While the famous family own a private jet, they decided to fly on a commercial airline and were seen strolling out of the terminal with all their luggage, alongside everybody else.Angelina picked one of her go-to looks – a simple but stylish all-black ensemble. The Oscar winner sported a long-sleeved top tucked into tapered trousers, and had kept her feet comfortable for the long journey in loafers.Angelina tied her long, chestnut brown locks into a ponytail and appeared to be make-up free under her oversized glasses. The star’s children were all dressed in comfortable, casual clothing.Angelina, Brad and their youngsters were in Cambodia earlier this month, which is Maddox’s birth place. The family were spotted in Siem Reap, researching locations for Angelina’s upcoming Netflix movie First They Killed My Father, which she co-wrote and will direct. Maddox himself will be heavily involved in the production of the film - a deliberate attempt by his mother to ensure he connects with the country of his birth.'As Maddox and I prepare the film we will be side by side learning about his country,' Jolie explained earlier this year.'He is 14 and this is a very important time for him to understand who he is. He is my son but he is also a son of Cambodia.'This is the time for our family to understand all that that means to him and to us.'
The mother-of-six chose as her subject for the new movie a harrowing memoir by Cambodian human rights activist Loung Ung First.Shot through the eyes of a war-scarred child, the film throws the spotlight on Cambodia's devastating 1970s holocaust under the communist Khmer Rouge - which is blamed for the deaths of 1.7 million people.Angelina hopes working on the film will give Maddox a greater understanding of his identity as he reaches adulthood. The devoted humanitarian has travelled to Cambodia on numerous occasions to do research for the film, which will begin filming on location next month.'My desire to tell this story in the most truthful and accurate way possible will be my tribute to the strength and dignity of all Cambodian people,' she said. The actress has been fascinated with the country ever since she filmed 2001 hit action movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider at Cambodia's famous Angkor Wat temple complex. In 2002 she adopted Maddox, then aged just seven months, from an orphanage in western Cambodia. Her now husband Brad jointly adopted Maddox in 2006, changing his surname to Jolie-Pitt.In 2005, Angelia was granted Cambodian citizenship by royal decree in recognition of her environmental work in the Southeast Asian nation. She has set up the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which focuses on poverty and environmental programs, and recently revealed Maddox, now 14, would be taking over her duties when he's old enough. The actress has tried her hand at directing before, starting in 2011 with Bosnian war drama In The Land of Blood and Honey and then when she tackled the Louis Zamperini biopic Unbroken last year. Her most recent directorial effort, By The Sea, is to be released this year and stars both her and Brad Pitt for the first time since they fell in love on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith.

A 2014 movie depicting the life of a former American prisoner of war tortured by the Japanese imperial army will finally open in Japan after online campaigns failed to stop it.“Unbroken,” directed by Angelina Jolie and released in the U.S. in December 2014, will open in Japanese theaters in February next year. Conservative netizens had criticized the film, saying it is “anti-Japanese” and wrongfully focuses on the imperial army’s brutality. The film tells the story of Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, who endured torture during his two years at a Japanese prison camp during World War II. Japanese actor and musician Takamasa Ishihara, known as Miyavi, plays a sadistic guard. An employee at Bitters End Inc., which will be distributing the film, said the backlash caused the delay in the film’s release in Japan. The movie is currently scheduled to play at a theater in Shibuya, but will expand to other locations, she said. The film is based on the book “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption,” by author Laura Hillenbrand. The movie’s title in Japan will be “Fukutsu-no Otoko Unbroken,” which can be translated as “The Indomitable Man: Unbroken.” The film is a true story of a man “who survived hell for two years at a prisoner camp,” the promotional poster says.“Unbroken” was nominated in three categories, including best cinematography, at the Academy Awards in February, but didn’t win any awards.
