Angelina Jolie and her kids have reportedly moved into a rental home, which she allegedly rushed to secure after deciding to file for divorce earlier this month.A staff member for the 41-year-old actress found the home in the second week of September and it is being rented on a month-to-month basis at a rate of $95,000 a month, according to People.“You could tell Angelina was in a rush to find a new house,” a source told the mag. “Her people signed a lease very quickly. They only seemed concerned about if it was an appropriate house for kids.”The home features five bedrooms and is a “very peaceful property and very kid-friendly.” Angelina and her estranged husband Brad Pitt are the parents of six kids – Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

IS Angelina Jolie pushing so hard for sole custody against Brad Pitt so she can emigrate to the UK with their six children and become a member of the House of Lords? Yeah, we realise this theory sounds completely crazy — even among all the unfounded gossip and speculation swirling around the celebrity split. But is there at least something to the idea? Investigative reporter — or muckraker depending on who you speak to — Ian Halperin raised the idea yesterday on Sunrise and Today Extra. “Brad Pitt is not to blame in this relationship,” declared the author of Brangelina: The Untold Story. “It’s Angie Jolie, she’s a woman with an agenda. She wants to leave the United States. She wants to work in the UK, she wants to get into the House of Lords.” This isn’t the first time the rumour has appeared. Us Weekly has been saying for months Jolie has been eyeing a spot in the House of Lords and that her political ambitions were putting a strain on her marriage to Pitt.
Us Weekly sort-of predicted the break up in June, reporting there was “tension” between the couple over whether to see their Chateau Miraval property in the South of France. Jolie apparently wanted to get rid of it to move to the UK to further her political ambitions while Pitt wanted to keep it.Jolie and Pitt have lived in England on a number of occasions including earlier this year at a 15,000 pound a month rental in Surrey. Jolie of course has been doing humanitarian work for some time and is a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. She has openly talked about a move into politics in the past.“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered. Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility,” she told Vanity Fair in 2014.She’s also had a long association with former Conservative Party Leader Baron William Hague who is a Member of the House of Lords — they have chaired summits together, visited war zones and are even due to teach together at the London School of Economics. And she’s “struck up a close friendship” with another member of the House of Lords, Baroness Arminka Helic, Hague’s former adviser who Vanity Fair even claimed in May was Jolie’s political mentor”.And in 2014 Jolie was made an honorary Dame by the Queen and was awarded a Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George — an unusual honour for non-Brits with Kofi Annan and Israeli President Shimon Peres being among other recipients.Of course the current turmoil with Pitt probably has nothing to do with any of this, and no one knows if the rumours about her wanting to join the House of Lords have any basis. If she does want to, she’ll have to become a British citizen. But as Lords are appointed rather than elected and she already moves in the right circles it’s not entirely inconceivable ...

Angelina Jolie Retains Laura Wasser for Divorce: Why You've Heard of Her

Angelina Jolie has retained attorney Laura Wasser to shepherd her split from Brad Pitt. That was a good move. Wasser, colloquially known as the "Disso Queen" (for dissolution … of marriage) around Hollywood, has been on one side of some of the most famous divorces in the industry (including Jolie's from Billy Bob Thornton – she repped Jolie). Most recently, Johnny Depp retained her in his proceedings with Amber Heard. But that's hardly the only split Wasser, 48, has guided: She also represented Jennifer Garner (in her divorce from Ben Affleck), Maria Shriver (in her divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger), Denise Richards (in her divorce from Charlie Sheen), Kim Kardashian (in her divorce from Kris Humphries) and Nick Lachey (in his divorce from Jessica Simpson). Interestingly, she also helped Ashlee Simpson split from Pete Wentz, which means she's been on different Simpson sisters' sides of different divorces.
Wasser joined her father Dennis' firm – Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles – in 1995, fresh from Loyola Law School. The elder Wasser has repped Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood and Jennifer Lopez, among many other members of Hollywood's elite."For a minute, I worked at the Western Law Center for disability rights, writing up briefs to put safety things in public bathrooms," she told Dame Magazine in 2012. "But then I split up with my husband, and I needed to make a living. So I told my dad, 'I don't think it's going to work out.' And he said, 'Great, take care of it.' That was my first case."That might sound like a cold way to get into the divorce game, but Wasser is actually well known for her professionalism. "She has a very cool and calm demeanor," L.A. family law attorney Atousa Saei told PEOPLE in 2015. She operates from a grounded perspective – "I have a reputation for being a pit bull, but really, I'm results oriented," she told Dame – and will turn down a case that gets too emotional for her liking. "I don't feel comfortable when the desire to ruin the other person is so great."
"You can call Laura and say, 'I'm so angry, blah blah blah blah,' but Laura does not operate in that space," producer Brian Grazer told Bloomberg Businessweek. "She will be calm and logical, and she'll tell you to think about what you're saying."Wasser often employs a few tried-and-true strategies in divorces. For instance, settle the terms before filing, because a divorce filing will go public quickly. (Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith's divorce was worked on for a year-and-a-half before it was filed.) Also, file at the same time as another one of her dozens-long list of clients – that way, press coverage will be divided among the parties instead of more tightly focused. Finally, if you can afford it, hire a private judge to oversee a settlement outside of a public courtroom, though it's pricey – a good judge can cost up to $1,000 an hour, on top of Wasser's $25,000 retainer and $850 per hour fees.
