Angelina Jolie looked incredibly stylish as she stepped out in New York on Thursday. The Hollywood star wore a long plush black coat over a full-length black dress with towering black heels.Angelina, 42, was in a great mood and greeted fans gathered to catch a glimpse of her with a big smile.Angie wore her shoulder-length brunette hair in loose waves and added a touch of mascara and some glossy red lip color. She carried a black handbag with a long chain and went bare-legged in her stilettos despite the chilly evening air. It's been a good week for the mother-of-six who received two Golden Globe nominations for films she produced. Angelina received nods from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for First They Killed My Father, which she also directed, in the Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language category, and for The Breadwinner in the Best Motion Picture – Animated category. First They Killed My Father is about the atrocities in Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge and stars Sareum Srey Moch and Phoeung Kompheak. Her movie The Breadwinner is about a young girl who lives under Taliban rule in Afghanistan who cuts off her hair to go to work so she can support her family. While she's no doubt pleased with the kudos her films received this week, she also took time out of her schedule to concentrate on her activism. The Oscar-winner stopped in at the Light After Darkness: Memory, Resilience and Renewal in Cambodia discussion at the Asia Society on Thursday.Opting to keep her velvet coat on for the event, Angelina took a seat on stage to participate in the roundtable, which was set to discuss the role of art in recalling historical events. She was joined by Cambodian film-director Rithy Panh, Executive Director of Cambodian Living Arts Phloeun Prim, and author of the memoir and screenplay Loung Ung.The conversation was moderated by President of the Ford Foundation Darren Walker.Joining the actress in the Big Apple are her children with ex-husband Brad Pitt.,She was seen earlier in the day on Thursday running errands with sons Pax, 14, and Knox, nine, along with daughters Vivienne, nine, and Shiloh, 11.Not on the outing were son Maddox, 16, and daughter Zahara, 12.Angelina and Brad split in September 2016, two years after tying the knot. They had been together since 2005.

You might think that Angelina Jolie really didn’t like herself if she had to resort to hiring a hitman to kill herself. This happened quite a few years ago when she’d married Billy Bob Thornton and was still known as one of the oddities of Hollywood. She was in a dark place back then apparently and had contemplated suicide for a while, but she didn’t want the stress of such a thing to wreak havoc on her family. So she contacted a hitman and asked to take out a contract on herself. Don’t ask where she found the hitman since it’s likely that this is another secret within Hollywood that many people would like to remain on the down low. But surprisingly, or not, the hitman decided to talk her out of it and eventually Jolie came to her senses. Just when you think you’ve heard it all.You might think that Angelina Jolie really didn’t like herself if she had to resort to hiring a hitman to kill herself. Her reasoning seems kind of sound in a way but not entirely well thought since suicide does in fact do a lot of damage to a family, but a murder can do just the same. It’s especially brutal with murder when you have to think about who did it, why haven’t they been caught yet, and of course the most important question of why. Jolie even stated that the hitman spoke very sweetly to her and convinced her to take a month to think about things and then think about it. Jolie took the month and when things started to go better for her the planned suicide became less of a thought. It doesn’t seem like many hitmen would talk themselves out of a job, but apparently they do have heart. But it took all of a month for her to figure out that she had something worth living for, which is something that doesn’t entirely gel to be honest. People that live with depression don’t just snap out of it, but a month is a fairly long process when you’re living with depression. Each day can feel like a month, and a month can feel like a year or more. But really this almost sounds like she wasn’t truly thinking things over but was instead trying to find the easy way out. Getting someone to kill you might be easier than taking your own live but the collateral damage is just as bad. I kind of wonder if she looks back on that now and wonders about what might have happened.Jolie’s stardom has kind of waxed and waned over the years depending on what kind of movie she’s starring in, what’s in the tabloids, and of course what fans want to think about her. Personally I thought she was gorgeous when I was younger and on her good days I still do. But it really seems like she got played out early on in her career, meaning that she did too much too soon and didn’t spread her roles out for a prolonged period of time that would have allowed her to pace herself.I’m not even sure if you could call ordering a hit on yourself as a cry for help or just a wordless, meaningless cry.

"Jon and I have gotten to know each other — through grandchildren now — [and] we're finding a new relationship," says Jolie on THR's Awards Chatter podcast.Angelina Jolie's off-again,on-again relationship with her father, actor Jon Voight, is on again."Jon and I have gotten to know each other — through grandchildren now — [and] we're finding a new relationship," the 42-year-old actress, who is promoting her fourth directorial effort, First They Killed My Father, tells Scott Feinberg on THR's Awards Chatter podcast (which can be downloaded via THR.com/TheRace). "We've had some difficulties, [but] through art we've been able to talk. It's the common language." Their difficulties reached a nadir in 2002, shortly after Voight and Jolie starred together as father and daughter in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, when Voight gave an interview to Access Hollywood and claimed that Jolie had "serious mental problems." Jolie responded by legally dropping "Voight" from her name, though she had never used it professionally ("I wanted to have my own identity — I didn't want to walk into a room as 'Jon's daughter,'" she explains). For now, though, Jolie and her famously conservative dad seem to have figured out the secret of keeping filial peace. "We don't really talk politics well," she says. "We talk art very well."

Angelina Jolie spent part of her Sunday browsing for bargains at the Rose Bowl Flea Market in Pasadena. The actress, 42, tried to hide her identity under a very large floppy black hat as she took three of her six children shopping. The star wore a long gray jersey coat over a black dress with lace at the bust.Angelina stepped out in slipper-style black flats and carried a large black leather tote over one shoulder. With their famous mom were Shiloh, 11, and twins Knox and Vivienne, nine.Shiloh wore a gray hoodie with the hood up over her short blonde hair. She added tan cargo pants and black flipflops and snaked on tortilla chips as she walked along.Knox was dressed in a black t-shirt and black sweatpants with black trainers. He carried a toy wooden crossbow that he'd found at one of the hundreds of stalls of merchandise.Vivienne had on camouflage pants and black shoes along with a baggy white cotton shirt that she left untucked. She also carried a purchase - a blue and green blanket dotted with dinosaurs.Their mom also carried purchases in a white plastic bag.Meanwhile, Angelina co-wrote an Op-Ed published in a British newspaper on Sunday calling for more to be done to protect women in war zones. She co-authored the article for The Guardian with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg for The Guardian.'In our different roles we have seen how conflicts in which women’s bodies and rights are systematically abused last longer, cause deeper wounds and are much harder to resolve and overcome. Ending gender-based violence is therefore a vital issue of peace and security as well as of social justice,' the two wrote.'Despite being prohibited by international law, sexual violence continues to be employed as a tactic of war in numerous conflicts from Myanmar to Ukraine and Syria to Somalia. It includes mass rape, gang rape, sexual slavery, and rape as a form of torture, ethnic cleansing and terrorism. It accounts in large part for why it is often more dangerous to be a woman in a warzone today than it is to be a soldier.' They concluded: 'It is humanity’s shame that violence against women, whether in peaceful societies or during times of war, has been universally regarded as a lesser crime. There is finally hope that we can change this. We owe it to ourselves – men and women alike – and to future generations.'
