Angelina Jolie enjoys a relaxed chat with daughter Shiloh, 15, as star goes for scenic stroll with her children in Rome

Angelina Jolie looked typically chic as she stepped out with five of her six children in Rome while enjoying some downtime from the film festival on Sunday. The actress, 46, donned a black and white chevron print coat on top of a black dress as she walked along the historic streets with daughters Shiloh, 15, Zahara, 16, and Vivienne, 13, and sons Knox, 13, and Maddox, 20.Shiloh, 15, opted for a black sweatshirt and denim shorts which she paired with neon yellow patterned trainers. Shiloh was back in her comfort zone with the casual ensemble after wearing a dress for the first time on the red carpet earlier this week at the Eternals premiere in Los Angeles. Angelina was taking five of her six children for a day of sight seeing in the Italian capital which saw them meandering down the Spanish Steps. Knox, 13, meanwhile, wore a black hoodie and cargo trousers and 20-year-old Maddox wore a grey beanie with matching black sweats. Angelina's youngest daughter Vivienne wore black shorts and a baggy white T-shirt as she walked with her family. The family all protected themselves from Covid-19 by wearing disposable face masks.  The only child missing from the family's outing was 17-year-old Pax. Last year, Shiloh's father Brad Pitt was said to be 'so proud of Shiloh and who she had become' as he celebrated the teenager's 14th birthday.'Brad is so proud of Shiloh and who she has become,' a source told Entertainment Tonight. 'He loves that she always stays true to herself and is so good to her brothers and sisters.'  Meanwhile, Angelina spoke out about Shiloh's androgynous dress sense, saying her daughter considered herself to be 'one of the brothers'.'She wants to be a boy,' she told Vanity Fair in 2011. 'So we had to cut her hair. She likes to wear boys' everything. She thinks she's one of the brothers.'Apparently coining a new fashion term, she said: 'Shiloh, we feel, has Montenegro style. She dresses like a little dude. It's how people dress there. She likes tracksuits, she likes [regular] suits.' Back in 2008 it was revealed that Shiloh had requested she be addressed as John since the age of two.Brad told Oprah Winfrey: 'She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it’s a Peter Pan thing. So we’ve got to call her John. "Shi, do you want…" "John. I’m John." And then I’ll say, "John, would you like some orange juice?" And she goes, "No!"'So, you know, it’s just that kind of stuff that’s cute to parents and it’s probably really obnoxious to other people.'  Addressing the name change at the time, Angelina said that there was no need to 'interpret' anything from the request. In an interview with The Daily Mail, Angelina said: 'I don’t think it’s for the world to interpret anything. She likes to dress like a boy and wants her hair cut like a boy and she wanted to be called John for a while.'Some kids wear capes and want to be Superman and she wants to be like her brothers. It’s who she is. It’s been a surprise to us and it’s really interesting, but she’s so much more than that – she’s funny and sweet and pretty. But she does love a tie…’Angelina has been promoting the new film Eternals at the film festival in the Italian city.  Eternals is a 2021 Marvel film based on the fictional race of humanoids of the same name which appears in the American comic books. The film sees the Eternals, an immortal alien race, come out of hiding for thousands of years to protect Earth from their evil counterparts, the Deviants. The movie, which premiered in Los Angeles earlier this month, stars Angelina as elite warrior Thena and Gemma as the character Sersi.

Angelina Jolie shares rare snaps of daughters Zahara, 16, and Shiloh, 15, doing their 'summer reading'...after admitting she feared for her children's 'safety' during marriage to Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie has continued to ramp up her social media presence after joining Instagram on August 20. On Friday, the 46-year-old actress shared rare photos of daughters Zahara, 16, and Shiloh, 15, doing their summer reading with her 10.2million followers.  Angelina — who shares all six of her children with ex Brad Pitt — recently confessed that she feared for the 'safety' of her kids throughout the course of their marriage. The Maleficent actress posted a snap of adopted daughter Zahara reading The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, and another of Shiloh reading The Dark Lady by Akala. 'End of #summerreading. These are some of the favorites in our house. Would love to know yours,' she wrote. She had spoken to HELLO! about the challenges of homeschooling amid the Coronavirus pandemic. 'I have four different schools going on with six different kids, so it's all different. I'm also terrible with math and I question history, so I'm a really challenged parent when it comes to a lot of this stuff.'Fortunately, I have very capable, smart children. They are getting through, but it's hard,' she added.   Us Weekly reported in April 2020, that amid her ongoing custody battle with Pitt, the pair had come to an agreement on 'traditional schooling' for the kids. 'Brad wants the kids to be in a school setting, and not isolated being homeschooled,' the insider said adding that the children's therapist had also recommended it. Eldest son Maddox, 19, is a student at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea but had returned home to take virtual classes amid the pandemic. Angelina's post comes shortly after she spoke out publicly about her marriage to Pitt, while promoting her new book Know Your Rights and Claim Them: A Guide for Youth. Fiercely protective over her brood which includes Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, 17, and 12-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox, amid a ruthless custody battle, she told The Guardian that she 'feared' for the safety of her kids during the marriage.'Yes, for my family. My whole family,' she said. When the outlet asked her to explain what caused her to fear for their safety she said that she 'can't speak about' it because of her legal situation. It was added that she 'confirmed by nodding that she was alluding to her divorce and the allegations of domestic abuse she made against Pitt.'One particular report of abuse was that Pitt  had gotten into an alcohol-fueled violent screaming match with Jolie, prompting Maddox, 19, to defend his mother. In the interview she called the situation 'horrific' but said: 'It doesn't start with the violation [the plane incident]. It's so much more complicated than that.' The Girl Interrupted star added: 'It took a lot for me to be in a position where I felt I had to separate from the father of my children,' adding: 'There's a lot I can't say.'Angelina filed to absolve their marriage in 2016 after two years, and said in a June 2020 interview with Vogue India that it was for 'the well-being of my family,' adding 'it was the right decision.'  Jolie was granted temporary custody over all six children and Brad was granted visitation rights with a court-appointed therapist present. In 2018, a court ruled in favor of Brad after he alleged that Angelina was preventing the children from having a consistent relationship with him. He was given a temporary summer custody that allowed him to spend time with the kids without Jolie present. She then alleged that summer that he had not been paying 'meaningful' child support for over a year, with Pitt retorting that he had loaned Angelina $8M and given an additional $1.8M to help with bills. The custody trial was supposed to begin in November 2018 but the two reached an agreement instead, as it was in the best interest of the children and eliminated the need for a trial. The pair were ruled 'legally single' in April 2020 but the status did not finalize the custody battle, as Brad continued to seek joint custody — which he finally got in May 2021. However, in July, Judge John W. Ouderkirk — the private judge overseeing both the divorce and custody case independently — was disqualified after it was said he had not sufficiently disclosed financial relationships with Pitt's attorneys. The ruling vacated all of Ouderkirk's decisions — including the joint custody ruling — which means Angelina retains full-time custody at this time. As Maddox is not a minor the decision does not apply to him. Pitt is now going to the California Supreme Court to request a review of the California appellate court's ruling to disqualify the private judge.  Jolie's attorney Robert Olson told ET on September 1, that the petition to the California Supreme Court 'displays how they are clinging to this private judge who exhibited bias and refused statutorily required evidence.'Her camp called it 'disturbing' that he would 'seek to reinstate the private judge' who exhibited 'unethical behavior' and said: 'Ms. Jolie hopes Mr. Pitt will instead join with her in focusing on the children's needs, voices, and healing.' Brad's attorney Theodore J. Boutrous stated that their decision to go to the Supreme Court was due to the fact that the judge was 'improperly disqualified after providing a detailed, fact-based custodial decision, following a lengthy legal process with multiple witnesses and experts.' His camp added that the ruling caused 'irreparable harm to both the children and families' involved in the case and said that 'allowing this kind of crafty litigation' deprives parents of 'irreplaceable time with their children as judges are disqualified for minor reasons in the midst of their cases.'

How baby Maddox Jolie-Pitt won Angelina Jolie's heart with his big smile in an orphanage in Cambodia and escaped a life on the streets, reveals his adopted father who helped the desperate actress get custody

Angelina Jolie's former right-hand man in Cambodia - who helped the desperate Hollywood star push through Maddox's adoption by becoming his adopted father - reveals why she chose her son out of the hundreds of orphaned babies in the country. Maddox turned 20 on August 5, and the actress' friend and former business associate, Sarath Mounh, tells DailyMail.com he couldn't be more proud of the way he's turned out.Angie faced a red-tape headache with the adoption back in 2002 and asked Sarath to help her out by acting as Maddox's dad on his adoption court documents.Maddox was also added to Sarath's family records, which shows that Maddox was his third child.Having a Cambodian father cut through many of the legal problems Angie faced as a foreigner especially as there was a government crackdown on international adoptions due to baby trafficking.Sarath says he then signed a document for Angie to adopt Maddox from him.Now he reveals why the 46-year-old wanted to adopt from Cambodia after falling in love with the place when she filmed Tomb Raider there in 2000.Sarath tells DailyMail.com why Angie specifically chose Maddox when there were hundreds of babies up for adoption in the developing country.'There are a lot of children in the world that need good care, need a better life. By that time, she wanted to be a mother, but thought it was better to be a mother to some baby who desperately needs good care,' says Sarath.'That's why she decided on Maddox rather than a biological baby. That's what I heard from her, we talked about everything.'He was clever, sharp, smart, a lovely kid, who smiled at people more than any of the other babies. I always remember his smiley face.'As far as I understand from her, when she visited the place [orphanage] and saw Maddox, he smiled at her and got up, instead of crying like all the other babies.'He was smiling right at her, it touched her heart, that's why she chose Maddox.' Sarath has no regrets with personally helping out Angie by becoming Maddox's father. They had become pals after Sarath's non-profit worked alongside the Maddox Jolie Pitt Foundation on conservation issues.'Baby trafficking was very bad at that time in Cambodia, a lot of legal issues needed to be covered and she didn't want it to go wrong,' says Sarath.'My role as a friend and colleague, I was there to help with the legal issues and register Maddox as my adopted son, then I signed a legal document for her to adopt Maddox from me. I don't know why they wanted me to help, or how they got into that position.'
Now Sarath hopes that Maddox and Angie can stay true to her word that Cambodia will always be a part of Maddox's identity. The whole family visited Cambodia for the premiere of her directorial debut First They Killed My Father in 2017, with Angie saying: 'We've been coming back and forth for 17 years, it feels like a second home to me. The children have close ties to the children here, many of them are their best friends. Maddox is happy to be back in his country.' Sarath adds: 'Cambodian people, we were proud and happy for him growing up in such a high class life. Many others in the population don't get that chance. We'd love him to go back and understand his culture.'She was planning to return as much as possible, it was going to be the second home for Maddox.'He grew up in a modern life, if he could make a contribution back to his own people, that would be very nice. If he could learn about his heritage and culture, how he came to be in the orphanage - a horrifying part to his early life.'He could have turned out to be a street kid, a lot of them fall through the net and go out into drug addiction, glue sniffing. The orphanage system in Cambodia is not well managed, a lot of the kids are not protected, donor money only goes so far, and the government doesn't do anything.'He is a lucky boy compared to many, many in Cambodia. It would be nice for him to come back and help the community.' Recently, Maddox's adoption has received widespread publicity after The Sun revealed that fellow Cambodian adoptee Elizabeth Jacobs was making a documentary to find out the truth about adoptions at that time in the late 90s/early 2000s, entitled The Stolen Children.'People ask me if I know if Maddox's parents are still alive and I have no clue,' adds Sarath, a father-of-three, who now lives in Toronto. His family was forced to flee the south East Asian country when the current prime minister Hun Sen banned the opposition party Cambodia National Rescue Party in 2017 and threatened to put its high-ranking members, such as Sarath, in jail.'Society is not much different since Maddox was adopted,' he says.'But the political and diplomatic issues have got worse. I can never go back, unless the government changes. If they are still in a dictatorship, I can't go back at all. That's not just me, a lot of opposition members are exiled right now.'
