Angelina Jolie emerged victorious in court last year when a judge ruled she had not copied another author's work for her film In The Land Of Blood And Honey. But journalist James Braddock is now appealing against the decision. In papers filed in March 11 this year, the Croatian author claims the original judge in the case 'used a poor system to determine if Jolie had infringed on his copyright,' for his book The Soul Shattering reports Radar Online.Claiming his book was not translated accurately, Braddock says in the appeal papers: 'The Court’s decision noted a number of material errors, starting with clear descriptions that are interpreted or translated incorrectly, to the downgrading of a complex of the work.'The court did not compare the whole scene at all elements, but he pulled the individual parts! In this way, the bit violated all the rights of the Appellant’s, violated the law and the tests that were performed were not executed in the right way.'Braddock published The Soul Shattering (Croatian name Slamanje Duse) in 2007, a love story between a Muslim and a Croatian in a Bosnian village in 1992, who are torn apart by the war. Jolie's movie also depicts a love story during the Bosnian War.
Radar reports that Braddock claimed in the original 2011 filing that one of Jolie's producers said they discussed his book before making the movie, adding: 'They all decided they wanted to adapt it into a film' - this was all denied by Jolie. In last year's case, Judge Dolly Gee wrote that 'although Blood and Honey is also a story of love, it highlights the complications of romantic love during wartime.'In her ruling, she noted that Braddock could not have 'invented the concept of rape as a war crime' and says the similarities are not strong enough 'particularly in light of the fact that those overlapping concepts are commonplace in books and films depicting war.''Blood and Honey is primarily a story of betrayal, revenge and tragedy with little or no hope, while Slamanje Duse focuses on family, love and strength.'Following Jolie's victory, one of her attorneys Harrison Dossick said: 'The Court’s tentative ruling was thorough and well reasoned. We are hopeful the court will adopt it in full when the final order is issued.'Jolie said of the film back in 2011: 'I was thinking and meditating on these international themes of violence against women, lack of intervention and how human beings are changed and warped by war and how some people come out stronger and some people are truly broken.'The website reports that the actress has yet to respond to the new appeal.

It's the kind of movie we love but aren't often cast in. It's a very experimental, independent type film where we get to be actors together and be really raw, open, try things." It is the couple's first film together since Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005 which led to their off-screen romance. They now have six children together but have not married. Pitt has said they would not do so until same-sex marriage is legalised throughout the US and "everyone in this county had the right to get married." Jolie has said she intends to do less acting in future an focus on work behind the camera and her role with the United Nations.Donna Langley, co-chairman of Universal Pictures, said: "Angelina continues to showcase her extraordinary storytelling abilities in front of and behind the camera and we are thrilled to extend our relationship with her on By the Sea."Angelina and Brad represent two of Hollywood's brightest talents and we are excited to be a part of their collaboration on this powerful piece."

Disney’s ‘Maleficent’ Crosses $700 Million In Global Box OfficeThe Not-Very-Nice Little Witch That Could keeps enchanting audiences around the globe, as Disney’s ‘Maleficent‘ crossed the $700 million mark in global box office, Disney distribution execs said. It’s the studio’s second 2014 release to cross that high mark (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, box office champ for the first half of 2014, is the other).Since its U.S. release on May 30, the film has tallied $228.8M domestically. Overseas, it has been extremely strong, no doubt helped by star Angelina Jolie‘s global visibility and appeal. The overall international gross has hit $471.8M so far, with big numbers out of China, Mexico, Russia and Brazil. Japan, which has a habit of keeping late-arriving Disney films in theaters for many lucrative weeks (see what happened with Frozen earlier in the year before Maleficent dethroned it), just debuted the film on July 5. Since then, it’s been No. 1 for three straight weekends, pulling in $32.7M already. The studio said Maleficent is the year’s highest-grossing film based on an original story, (though some may quibble, given the film’s roots in Disney animated classic Sleeping Beauty). It’s also Jolie’s highest-grossing live-action film ever, whether measured by domestic, international and global box office.

Angelina Jolie has landed roles for all six of her children in Cleopatra. The actress and her fiancé Brad Pitt have previously said they didn't want their brood - Maddox, 13, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, eight, and five-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox - to follow them into acting, but it appears they may have changed their mind after they all appeared on set together ready to film.Cleopatra is also rumoured to star Brad Pitt, which would make it the first film he and Angelina had appeared in together since 2005's Mr and Mrs Smith, where they first met.A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Their whole family life is rooted in films but Brad and Ange didn't want the children to follow in their footsteps. However, acting is in their genes, and it could turn out to be the start of something big for the next generation." Vivienne has previously appeared alongside her mother in Maleficent, but Angelina said she only let that happen after a long discussion with Brad. She said: "I only put Vivienne in the film because the other children her age would be scared of me because I looked quite scary as Maleficent."Neither one of us want our children to be actors, Brad and I, but it was just I really couldn't ask another four or five-year-old to do it because kids on set did actually get scared and they would cry when they would see me."
