The event will focus on harnessing the power of film 'to help fight the discrimination and social stigma faced by survivors of warzone rape and other forms of sexual violence in conflict', according to a press release from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in the UK.The mother-of-six, who is the co-founder of Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict, will lead a Q&A session with Dr. Denis Mukege, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and City of Joy Centre Director Christine Schuler Deschryver.
'Artists and human rights defenders often take significant risks to tell the truth about crimes committed against defenceless women, children and men during war,' Jolie - who was awarded an honorary dame hood in 2014 - said in a press release.'The perpetrators of war crimes often go to extreme lengths to keep the truth from being told. So I am proud to support the filmmakers taking part in the festival.' She added: 'Stigma compounds the suffering of survivors of warzone rape. It is an unbearable injustice on a human level, and it is a major obstacle to achieving justice for victims of these sickening acts of violence. We need to examine and change the entrenched social attitudes that treat sexual violence as an inevitable consequence of war or lesser crime – including harmful attitudes to women.'
In 2014, Jolie and UK Foreign Secretary William Hague travelled to Sarajevo to meet victims of the conflict in their on-going campaign to end sexual violence against women in war.Films to be screened at the festival include The Prosecutors, a kickstarter backed film about a Congolese and Bosnian lawyer’s fight to get justice for survivors of sexual violence, and Silent War, which accounts by women and children systematically abused by members of the Assad regime.

Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the made-up story. We’re told it’s completely untrue.According to NW, the actress has been messaging the former soccer star about collaborating on a charity project together, but it’s really a scheme to get to know him better. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Ange and David came very close to working with each other several years ago for an ad campaign, and she’s never been able to get him out of her mind since. She’s always had a crush on him.” The outlet’s supposed source goes on to say Jolie “got his contact details from one of their mutual pals and is trying to set up a get-together.” A second ulterior motive for teaming up with Beckham, according to the tipster, is to repair her image amid her custody battle with Brad Pitt. “Everyone loves David. He’s very popular with the fans and she would look good standing next to him,” adds the suspicious source. “He can do no wrong, so hitching her wagon to him would be a smart PR move.” The seemingly nonexistent “insider” also maintains that Jolie “thinks they have lots in common – besides beauty and brains,” and hopes he’ll “teach some of his soccer moves” to her daughter Shiloh, “who’s a keen player.” From there, the outlet speculates that Beckham’s wife Victoria won’t be happy about the actress reaching out to her husband, “given Ange’s ‘man-eater’ reputation.” The “source” adds, “Victoria pouts and kicks up a stink whenever David is seen getting friendly with other women, so there’s little doubt she is telling him not to sign up for any projects with Angelina.” Despite what the magazine’s anonymous and untraceable “insider” claims, Gossip Cop checked in with Beckham’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the story is untrue. We’re assured that Jolie hasn’t reached out to the soccer star about teaming up on a charity project.Meanwhile, it’s been reported by several reputable outlets that Jolie “has no interest in dating” and is only focused on her six children. That remains especially true now that the actress’s custody battle is expected to go to trial. It certainly wouldn’t bode well for Jolie’s “image” or legal case if she were to try and steal a married man who shares four kids with his wife of nearly 20 years. The outlet’s premise is both flawed and absurd.It’s worth noting, NW is the same unreliable tabloid that Gossip Cop busted last month for falsely claiming that Jolie was dating Keanu Reeves. This latest phony article makes no mention of what happened to that supposed romance. And earlier this year, the outlet made up a story about Jolie “crushing on” Chris Hemsworth. It’s clear the tabloid just enjoys arbitrarily linking the actress to random famous men.

The American actress and estranged husband Brad Pitt had intended to rescue a refugee child together before announcing their split two years ago.But now the Maleficent star, 43, intends to go it alone - even though the couple are still battling over custody of the six children they already have.A source close to Angelina confirmed: "She has always wanted to help an infant from that region and saw no reason why she shouldn't start the adoption ball rolling by herself."Brad admires the fact that divorce is not deterring her from completing the plan they had together. He thinks it's a bold move - and he's promised to support her every step of the way."Earlier this month, child psychologist Stan Katz told Los Angeles Superior Court that an official custody evaluation has already begun over their children: biological Shiloh, 12, 10-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne and adopted Maddox, 17, Pax, 14 and Zahara, 13.They will all be individually interviewed by social workers and attorney Jim Fedalen, an expert in California family law, declared: "They are having their say and what they say could have enormous sway over the court's decision."
