Angelina Jolie looked every bit the movie star on Tuesday as she stepped out in New York City - just days after it was revealed that another one of her kids dropped her ex Brad Pitt's surname. The Oscar-winner, 51, was greeted by a sea of fans and photographers outside the five-star Whitby Hotel ahead of a screening of her latest film Couture. She modeled a strapless black gown with a plunging neckline and elegant draping. Her dyed blonde hair was styled in voluminous waves and she concealed her blue eyes behind a pair of aviator sunglasses. The mother-of-six accessorized with dangly gold earrings and a sleek gold wrist watch. Jolie was accompanied by several buff bodyguards as she arrived at the screening venue in a chauffeured SUV.Couture sees Jolie play an American filmmaker who ventures to Paris Fashion Week where she learns she has breast cancer. The film is deeply personal to Jolie, who underwent a preventative double mastectomy back in 2013.She did so after discovering she carries a genetic mutation that dramatically increases the chance of being diagnosed with potentially fatal breast cancer. The mutation in her BRCA1 gene left Jolie with an estimated 87 per cent risk of breast cancer and 50 per cent risk of ovarian cancer. She lost her mother Marcheline Bertrand to ovarian and breast cancer in 2007. Her grandmother and aunt also passed away from cancer. Jolie mentioned her late mother while speaking to PEOPLE on Tuesday, with the star admitting that she 'would have given anything to have [her] mother alive to be there for her grandchildren.' She also gave rare insight on her emotional well-being as she revealed how Couture 'resonates' with her. 'The film is not about an end for my character but rather about a renewed desire to live life until your last breath which particularly resonates with me at this time in my life. 'I am not sure I was strong enough even five years ago to do this. To be open and trusting to share and be vulnerable again,' Jolie said. 'Things happen in life that take us off path. We lose ourselves and we feel isolated.' Jolie praised Couture as a 'beautifully written piece about women from different countries' and that she believes the film 'has something to say that [she] thought could be useful to people.' She said it shows 'how everyone is dealing with things that make us very human, and that if we can figure out how to live through challenges by leaning on each other and having more empathy towards one another, the better and less alone we will be.' Jolie also made sure to applaud director Alice Winocour for approaching 'the stories of the women in Couture with sensitivity and hope.' Couture is set to hit theaters on June 26, less than a year after it made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. Jolie's NYC outing comes shortly after it was revealed that her and Pitt's youngest son Knox dropped the actor's last name from his high school diploma. The 17-year-old removed the last name of Pitt as he graduated from Fusion Academy in Los Angeles earlier this month, per Page Six. Instead, the teen's name was simply listed as Knox Jolie on the official certificate.
Knox was cheered on by his mother Angelina Jolie at the graduation ceremony as well as brother Pax, twin sister Vivienne and sister Zahara. Pitt and Jolie were previously married from 2014 until their divorce became legal in 2019. And in late 2024, it was revealed that the former couple had reached a divorce settlement following a lengthy, eight-year battle. The two stars share three biological children Shiloh, 20, as well as twins Knox and Vivienne. They also share Maddox, 24, Pax, 22 and Zahara, 21. It was also recently revealed by InTouch that Pitt and Jolie's daughter Zahara was making legal moves to remove Pitt from her last name. The next day, TMZ obtained a petition Zahara filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, where she asked for her new legal name to be Zahara Marley Jolie. She has not been using Pitt's last name for many years. Pitt was notably absent from her name when she joined a sorority at Spelman College three years ago. And in May, Zahara did not use the name Pitt when graduating from Spelman College. Jolie had also been in attendance at the ceremony. Another source told TMZ that Pitt thinks Jolie is keeping their children from seeing him. Jolie and Pitt were raising six children together before she filed for divorce in 2016. Their kids Shiloh, Maddox, and Vivienne have also stopped using Pitt's last name. It is not known if Pax has stopped using the name as well. It was confirmed by the Daily Mail back in May that Maddox requested to legally remove 'Pitt' from his surname. He is changing his full name to Maddox Chivan Jolie and listed the reasoning as 'personal.' Back in 2024, Vivienne also dropped her dad's last name in a Playbill credit for The Outsiders. That same year, Shiloh dropped Pitt from her name shortly after her 18th birthday. At the time, a source told the Daily Mail: 'He knew this was coming and there is nothing he can do about it right now.'It's sad but Brad's strained relationship with his kids and Angelina is just a way of life for him now.' However, the insider further explained that the actor has always left the door open if his estranged children wanted to reconnect. 'He respects Shiloh's decision. He loves her and no matter what happens, he is always only a phone call away. 'He will be there for Shiloh and any of his kids whenever they need, no questions asked. But it's up to them to make the next move.'A separate source stated that Pitt 'knows that, with some of the other kids who are not biologically his children, they do not understand and may never allow him back into their lives.' Back in 2016, Pitt and Jolie's relationship came to an explosive end after the pair got into an alleged physical altercation while on a private flight with their six kids. Jolie later claimed that Pitt 'choked' one of the children during the horrifying dispute and 'struck' another in the face, leaving her and the kids feeling like 'hostages' and cowering in fear under a blanket for hours until they landed. She also alleged that he grabbed her by the head, slammed her against a wall, and violently shook her at one point during the flight - which resulted in her injuring her back and elbow. Pitt's rep called Jolie's account 'completely untrue' to CNN at first, but then released an amended statement to the publication that read, 'Angelina's story continues to evolve each time she tells it.'Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did but will not for things he didn't do. He has been on the receiving end of every type of personal attack and misrepresentation. 'Thankfully, the various public authorities she has tried to use against him over the past six years have made their own independent decisions.' The statement at the time also read, 'Brad will continue to respond in court as he has consistently done.' The F1 actor has been romantically linked to Ines de Ramon since 2022.

Angelina Jolie's son Knox delivered a graduation speech his classmates won't soon forget. The 17-year-old dropped a jubilant F-bomb as he discussed his upcoming martial arts showdown - where he predicted a knock-out fight. Video posted online shows Knox taking to the podium in his blue cap and gown, along with Tibetan prayer flags and a lei draped over his shoulders and around his neck.Proud mom Angelina, 51, sat in the crowd, recording the speech on her phone. 'Tonight, I'm gonna be fighting at Total Sonic Knockout 5 at 12:45 AM, so catch me,' Knox told classmates during Friday's ceremony. 'I'm gonna knock 'em the f**k out!' True to his word, Knox battled it out in the ring in a brutal martial arts fight that resembled a scene from his estranged father Brad Pitt's film Fight Club. A Muay Thai enthusiast, Knox has recently been spotted training and competing in tournaments, and on Friday he showed off his battle-ready physique, channeling Tyler Durden from the 1999 classic. As he squared off against his opponent in the packed club, Knox took a few hits but stayed composed, landing his own blows with precision in the sweaty, chaotic bout. For someone so young, he moved like a seasoned fighter, ducking, weaving, and delivering kicks and punches with the confidence of a veteran. The outing comes just days after Knox joined Jolie and his older siblings - Pax, 22, Maddox, 24, and Zahara, 21, celebrating her graduation at Spelman College - though there was no sign of Pitt himself. At the ceremony, Knox seemed to channel his father again, sporting dark hair with frosted blond tips reminiscent of Pitt's signature 90s style.
In an apparent dig at Pitt, Zahara's name was read at the ceremony as Zahara Marley Jolie, rather than as the hyphenated Jolie-Pitt.She appeared to publicly remove Pitt's last name for the first time in her Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority initiation ceremony in late 2023.Pitt and Jolie were together for about a decade before they married in 2014 but filed for divorce two years later in 2016.Jolie cited irreconcilable differences and later accused Pitt of abusing both her and their children, which he has denied. Their lengthy, contentious divorce battle was finalized in late 2024, and since then, many of their kids have dropped Pitt's surname amid their ongoing estrangement. Shiloh also now goes by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie as she filed paperwork to legally remove her estranged dad's surname from her own when she turned 18 in the summer of 2024. Then, in February, Maddox dropped Pitt from his professional credits as he appeared as Maddox Jolie in the production notes for the film Couture and screenings of the movie Maria. In May 2024, Vivienne was credited as Vivienne Jolie, not Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, on the playbill for The Outsiders, the Broadway musical. Pitt made a shocking remark about his family after his bitter divorce with Jolie officially came to an end, but his fractured relationship with their six children remains unresolved. Pitt, who believes his relationship with two of his children is 'unfixable,' opened up about how important family is to him, amid his ongoing and escalating estrangement from his kids. Speaking at the F1 premiere in Mexico City, he said: 'No matter the mistake, you just learn from [it] and move on,' he told ET. 'It'll lead to the next success.' The Oscar winner continued, 'When you get to my age, you realize how important it is to surround yourself with the people you love, the people that love you back.' 'Friends, family, and that's it,' he added. 'From there, we get to go make things. It's a pretty simple, I think, equation.'

'He has zero concern with what Pax does or doesn't do. [Pax's] actions reflect who he is,' the insider said. 'Brad honestly considers his relationship with Pax unfixable,' they added. The source went on to say that the actor doesn't appear to be planning any outreach to either of his adopted sons: 'Pax and Maddox have made it abundantly clear how they feel, and Brad has nothing to say about either of them.' As for his other children, the source said that Pitt 'holds out hope that the others will one day come around. Time heals wounds.' A source close to Jolie also hit back at her ex-husband at the time and said: 'Brad continues to play the victim. His fractured relationship with his children is a direct result of how he has treated them. 'He should stop blaming others. If he wants to rebuild a relationship with the kids, he should acknowledge his own actions and make amends.'

Angelina Jolie marked her 51st birthday with her children by her side on Thursday - after son Maddox became the latest of her brood to officially drop estranged dad Brad Pitt's surname. The actress opted for a casual look in a grey sweater, trousers and spectacles as she stepped out with sons Knox, 17, and Pax, 22, in Los Angeles.Knox flashed his bold new orange and red hair paired with a cream shirt and white joggers as he helped his mom unload items from the car.Pax was seen chatting with Jolie as the family prepared to celebrate her special day.The outing comes after the Daily Mail confirmed that Jolie's eldest son Maddox, 24, requested to legally remove 'Pitt' from his surname last month, changing his full name to Maddox Chivan Jolie, and listed his reason as 'personal.' Maddox informally dropped the surname in February, when he was listed in the end credits of his mother's movie, Couture, as Maddox Jolie, rather than Maddox Jolie-Pitt. In a heartbreaking blow to the Oscar winner, who has been estranged from his children, Maddox has joined several of his siblings in distancing themselves from the Pitt name, following his sister Shiloh's legal name change last year. His other sisters, Zahara, 21, and Vivienne, 17, have also informally dropped the name. Pitt, 62, and Jolie were married from 2014 to 2019, but their relationship came to a tumultuous end years before their divorce was finalized. The Daily Mail reached out to Pitt's representatives for comment at the time. The sighting comes after Knox, Pax, and Maddox were seen at sister Zahara's graduation from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia - but there was no sign of Pitt, whose last name Zahara ditched again at the ceremony.Knox, his twin Vivienne and Shiloh, 20, were welcomed during Jolie's relationship with Pitt, which ended in divorce in 2016.
