Salma Hayek recalled how she and Angelina Jolie were 'passionately screaming at each other' on the set of their new movie, Without Blood. Jolie and Hayek, who worked as director and actress, respectively, on the film, recently opened up about their unfiltered conversations and the type of dynamic they have with each other. 'I haven't had that kind of connection in my life,' Jolie, 51, told People in an interview published on Saturday. Hayek, who recently celebrated her 60th birthday by stripping down for a nude swim, said they were often 'crying,' 'cracking up' and 'passionately screaming at each other' while filming together in the summer of 2022. She also said their conversations on set were 'delicious' and 'very organic.' 'I love her mind and I get her,' she said about working with Jolie and being directed by her. 'So I think when you know somebody gets you, you feel safe and you can be whoever you are in whatever circumstances,' she added.Jolie, who previously starred alongside Hayek in the 2021 Marvel movie Eternals, also highlighted their connection because of their 'similar' life experiences. 'I think it's so nice we met at this later stage in our life,' Jolie said. 'Because we've both been through so many similar things, experienced different things, and somehow have landed as older women in a very similar place,' she explained. 'Even though I'm much older than her, by the way,' Hayek quipped.'Not that much older,' Jolie responded, laughing. 'To appreciate the friendship and that bond and that understanding, I haven't had that kind of a connection in my life.'
Hayek also concurred, adding: 'It's hard to find that connection, and I think that's what part of the movie is also about, how difficult it is to communicate, to connect.' In their new film Without Blood, which was written, coproduced and directed by Jolie, Hayek stars as Nina, opposite Demián Bechir's character Tito. The war drama is based on Alessandro Baricco's same-name novel. The plot follows a woman named Nina who survived a war and seeks revenge decades after a tragic family massacre. 'Sometimes we would start passionately screaming at each other,' Hayek recalled about her interactions with her director while filming the movie. 'Then I start crying and she hugs me, then we're laughing nonstop,' she continued. 'And from the outside, I could see people say, "What's going on?"' Hayek also said she 'can say whatever' to Jolie. 'She's never offended because it's coming from me. And we're talking about issues, and then we start crying because we're moved, not because we made each other cry... And then we say something stupid and we start cracking up.' Without Blood first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024 before receiving a theatrical release in Italy the following April. The film premiered in theaters across the United States on Friday.

Angelina Jolie made an eye-catching fashion statement as she was spotted arriving at New York City's JFK Airport on Thursday. The 51-year-old actress flashed her bra in a silky cream ensemble that featured a loose-fitting and very revealing, low-cut blouse along with a long skirt. Jolie, who is on the hunt for a new man and finally ready to move on from her split from Brad Pitt, was either unaware of the slip or paid it no mind. She proceeded through the departures terminal accompanied by a member of the airport's VIP concierge staff. The Oscar winner wore black flats and shouldered a large black tote bag while clutching a cell phone in her hand. As one of the most famous and recognizable Hollywood stars, Jolie is known for staying composed when surrounded by crowds. And she kept her cool in this scenario as well, keeping her gaze focused ahead of her behind large-framed, tinted sunglasses. Jolie encountered a different scene at the New York City premiere of her new film Without Blood on Monday.Upon arriving to the event with her daughter Zahara, she stepped in to calm the frenzied crowd of fans and autograph seekers. The A-lister appeared to mouth the word 'stop' as she maneuvered through the mass of people while trying to sign as many autographs as possible, as seen in fan footage of the scene. Jolie was also recently spotted hanging out of a studio window while in the Big Apple as part of what appeared to be a spontaneous photoshoot. It happened to be the second-story window of her own fashion house and creative collective headquarters, Atelier Jolie, located in the building that was the former home and studio of artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. In an interview with L’Officiel USA published on September 9, Jolie stated that she's ready to leave the United States and 'be a bit nomadic' now that her two youngest children, twins Vivienne and Knox, have turned 18.
Jolie, who listed her Los Feliz mansion for $29.85 million earlier this year, admitted she is experiencing 'the end of a certain time' in her life. Asked if she's going to be swapping Los Angeles for New York, she told the publication: 'Out of the States more, I think.'I don't really plan to have a base. I'd like to have a home base for my family, a place where some of the mom stuff and the family photos are. And then I’d like to be a bit nomadic for a while.' Jolie no longer needs to stay in Los Angeles to satisfy the rules of her custody agreement with Pitt, which required her minor children to remain near their father until they turned 18. All six of her children with the Heart of the Beast star are now adults and four of them, including Maddox, 25, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20 and Vivienne, have taken legal steps to change their last names from Pitt to Jolie.Knox and Pax, 22, have not filed a formal legal name-change petition. While Pitt, 62, increasingly steps out in public with girlfriend of nearly four years, Ines de Ramon, 33, the Maleficent actress is keen to continue the global expansion of her Atelier Jolie creative house.'The hope for the Atelier was always to be global; Brazil might become the first space that we open outside of the US,' she continued. 'The idea would be to visit the different locations around the world and meet local artists and makers.'
She is also planning to return to Cambodia to do 'more hands-on work' with her Maddox Foundation, which is a non-profit focused on community development and conservation. 'My home in Cambodia will also be a residency a few months out of the year for Khmer culture,' she explained.Jolie noted that her goal with traveling is finding 'connection and community,' rather than the idea of being a tourist.'I’m not somebody who vacations or shops or things like that. I envision more field work, more travel, and just being out in the world. Get my motorcycle back, get back in a plane. I don’t know.' While Jolie has been present for her children when they needed her, she knows they would support her getting to travel the world more now they've grown up.'That’s definitely what my kids want. They had Mom when Mom needed to be Mom. Now, they'd like me to call them from Tunisia having just landed a plane to meet with local artists. I agree that would be very nice.'

Angelina Jolie and her daughter Zahara put on a united front at the Without Blood screening on Monday after her son Maddox legally dropped Brad Pitt's last name. The Hollywood actress, 51 was joined by her glamorous daughter, 21, to celebrate her new movie at East Village in New York. Jolie wowed in a sophisticated black suit and gold bralette while Zahara oozed elegance in a halterneck knot dress.Without Blood, which is set to release September 18, is billed as a 'parable-like tale exploring themes of family, war, and revenge'. Stars of the movie Salma Hayek and Demian Bichir were greeted by fans as they made their arrival. 'Alessandro Baricco's Without Blood examines universal truths about trauma, memory and healing,' director Jolie shared. 'The emotional intimacy and openness that our cast and crew brought to this film was extraordinary and exciting to be around. 'I hope that Salma and Demián's brave performances will inspire the type of conversation that Baricco sought in writing the novel.' The mother and daughter outing comes just days after Maddox became the latest child out of Jolie's brood to drop Pitt's last name. Maddox, 25, has legally removed Pitt from his moniker, following in the footsteps of his younger sibling Shiloh, 20. Meanwhile, Zahara and fraternal twins Vivienne and Knox, 18, have informally stopped using their dad's surname, with plans to legalize the change. A Los Angeles judge granted the name change on Monday, officially making their son's name Maddox Chivan Jolie, per Page Six. 'There are no objections, the petition for change of name is granted,' the court order reviewed by the outlet states. 'The Decree is signed and filed. The Petitioner’s name is changed from Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt to Maddox Chivan Jolie.' Maddox attended the Stanley Mosk Courthouse hearing remotely, alongside attorney Peter Levine.Earlier this year, Maddox and Zahara published legal notices in the Los Angeles Daily Journal declaring their intent to drop their father's last name.
Zahara graduate has a scheduled name change hearing on September 28. In July 2024, Shiloh's attorney made a statement about her decision to drop her 62-year-old dad's last name. She filed for the change on her birthday in May, and it was publicly announced with a legal notice in the Los Angeles Times. Regarding the publicity of the proceeding, Shiloh's lawyer, the aforementioned Levine, shared that she 'made an independent and significant decision following painful events'. He added that she was 'merely following legal process' when publishing the information. One month after Shiloh filed to drop his last name, a source revealed to People that Pitt's relationship with his older kids remained strained. 'He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule,' the insider shared at the time. Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000-2005. He famously moved on with Jolie, now 51, his Mr and Mrs Smith co-star. They split in 2016 following a 12-year relationship and two-year marriage, with their divorce finalised eight years later in December 2024. The contentious exes are in an ongoing legal battle stemming from a disagreement regarding their shared French winery, Château Miraval. Pitt claims Jolie sold her stake to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler behind his back, breaking an agreement that they would not sell without the other's knowledge. The actor has been in a relationship with jewellery designer Ines de Ramon, 33, since 2022.

Angelina Jolie was 'not surprised' that Brad Pitt has broken his sobriety, per an insider, after the actor stunned fans worldwide by revealing he was off the wagon after seven years. The actor, 62, first went sober after splitting from Jolie, 51, amid accusations that he poured booze on her and their children during a volatile flight on board a private jet in 2016. He denied the claims. The winery owner subsequently announced he had turned his back on drink and had been working through inner demons at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings – but revealed in an Esquire UK interview on Monday that he had 'gotten back off the wagon.'The former Hollywood power couple, whose acrimonious divorce took eight years to settle, have been besieged by drama ever since, with many of Pitt's children publicly siding with Jolie and choosing to drop his last name. A source close to Jolie claimed to Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice column after Pitt's booze revelation: 'Angelina is not surprised. She tried to warn people. She knew this was always a possibility.' They claimed that Jolie had 'long believed that sobriety did not necessarily mean the underlying problems [Brad had] had disappeared.'She doesn’t believe Brad has fundamentally changed. She believes Brad is who Brad is, and no amount of sobriety or reinvention changes that,' the insider added. The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Jolie and Pitt for comment and has yet to hear back. In the wide-ranging interview with Esquire, the actor admitted he had gotten 'back off the wagon' after the interviewer noticed the star had offered him a glass of wine. When asked if the beverage was for guests, Pitt responded: 'No, I got - I was sober for seven years. And then I got back off the wagon,' he said, offering a little laugh. 'In a more restrained manner. I got overconfident a couple times, went, "Yep, nope, not good for me." Not in big quantities.' Pitt clarified he was now able to 'have a few' glasses of wine but is unable to indulge any further. 'Yeah. Well... I can have a few. But I can’t have a lot. I have to be professional about it,' Pitt said. 'He likes mornings now anyway, and you can miss a lovely morning when you drink too much the night before, and it’s just not as interesting,' the profile noted of Pitt. 'Mornings are interesting, and he doesn’t want any more of them to go by unseen.' The revelation that Pitt has started drinking again comes amid his painful family drama. The actor, who is now dating jewelry executive Ines de Ramon, has been embroiled in a bitter legal battle with his ex, Angelina Jolie, for years, and the split has seemingly exposed his fractured relationship with their children.Last month, their daughter Vivienne, 18, followed in the footsteps of her three older siblings and filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court to drop Pitt from her name. The reason behind the teenager's name change is listed as 'personal,' according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail. An official court hearing is scheduled for November 2.Their daughter Zahara and son Maddox also published notices revealing their intentions to drop Pitt from their last names.
The advertisements were both published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal throughout June and July.Last year, Shiloh, who was born Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie. Aside from Pax, Vivienne's twin brother Knox is the only other sibling who has yet to formally drop the actor's surname.Pitt has had a complicated relationship with alcohol that is alleged to have been the source of issues he has suffered with his family. His marriage with Jolie ended after a volatile plane incident in 2016 in which the actor was accused of being physically abusive towards both his wife and two of their children. In a 2022 court filing, Jolie alleged Pitt had been drinking during the flight and poured alcohol on herself and the children, according to CNN. 'At one point, he poured beer on Jolie; at another, he poured beer and red wine on the children.' Pitt denied the allegations and he was never charged in connection with the alleged incident following an FBI investigation. A source close to Pitt told CNN at the time the court filing was released: 'All parties have had this information for nearly six years and was used in previous legal proceedings. There is nothing new here and serves no purpose other than being a media stunt meant to inflict pain.' A year after his split from Jolie, self-proclaimed 'professional' drinker Pitt was sober.'I enjoy wine very, very much, but I just ran it to the ground,' he told GQ in 2017. 'I had to step away for a minute. And truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good.' For a year and a half, Pitt was in Alcoholics Anonymous, confiding in other men about the 'ugly sides' of himself. 'You had all these men sitting around being open and honest in a way I have never heard,' he told The New York Times. 'It was this safe space where there was little judgment, and therefore little judgment of yourself.''It was actually really freeing just to expose the ugly sides of yourself,' he said. 'There’s great value in that.'itt's relationship with alcohol went beyond personal and into business.
During their marriage, Pitt and Jolie bought the French winery Chateau Miraval, a property that is now at the center of their legal ordeal.Jolie sold her stake in it in part because of Pitt's 'acknowledged problem of alcohol abuse on their family.' Pitt addressed the 'family stuff' during his Esquire interview, admitting he battled suicidal thoughts amid his estrangement from his children with his ex-wife.The actor explained how the pain he felt was so 'oppressive' and, while he would never act on it, he struggled to see a way out.He told Esquire UK: 'I was never suicidal in any way. It just was not my makeup. In fact, if I have any afflictions, it’s probably being a congenital optimist. Which has helped many times, and it’s also gotten me - I’ve walked foolishly head-on into a Mack truck because of my optimism.'Or, as my forever-funny friend David Fincher will say, "Yeah, you see the glass as half full, but it’s half full of urine."'Anyway, I’ve never been suicidal except for one little period. And in that one little period, I just thought - I just couldn’t - just didn’t see a way out. The pain was so oppressive that - I wasn’t going to act on this, but I could feel - I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief.'And I thought, "Oh, okay, now I understand" - I understand suicide, in the sense that it’s just relief. It’s just looking for relief from the pain.'But I also think we have incredible survival instincts. And for me, that immediately kicked in, but it was just…Yeah. Like, listen: This s**t ain’t easy…And you’re talking to a guy who won the lottery.'When quizzed by the interviewer, Pitt confirmed he was talking about 'family stuff.'Now in his sixties, Pitt shows no signs of slowing down. His next film, Heart of the Beast, a man-and-his-dog story, will be coming out this fall, followed by David Fincher's The Adventures of Cliff Booth, in which he stars as a Hollywood stuntman. He just wrapped up the thriller The Riders a few weeks ago.But Pitt says he longs to be in his fifties again. He told Esquire: 'God, I want my fifties back…I would do more. Your fifties are just - man, anything that’s on your mind, go. Go attack it. Go attack it now.'
