Not done with Hollywood just yet. Angelina Jolie may reprise her role as the titular character in Maleficent 2 and has numerous directorial projects in the works amid her nasty and very public divorce from Brad Pitt, according to The Hollywood Reporter.The site reports that Jolie, 41, will not be taking a step back from Hollywood, as has been previously speculated; instead, the By the Sea actor-director will be tackling a number of different projects in the coming year.Her most recent directorial endeavor, First They Killed My Father, screened in Cambodia on Saturday, February 18, and Jolie made headlines when she brought all six kids — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8 — with her to meet Cambodian royalty and taste-test the local cuisine, including spiders.The Oscar winner’s next projects will keep her closer to home, however, with two large-scale projects in development for Universal: an adaptation of Simon Sebag Montefiore’s Catherine the Great and Potemkin: The Imperial Love Affair and The Spy Who Loved, a World War II espionage drama based on Clare Mulley’s 2012 book.Jolie is also looking to develop what might be her next directing project, an adaptation of Alessandro Baricco’s 2004 novel Without Blood, which tells the story of an unnamed war. On the other end of the genre spectrum, the U.N. special envoy is also a producer on the Disney kid’s film The One and Only Ivan.Jolie’s last appearance in front of the camera was in By the Sea, which she also wrote and directed. Costarring her now ex-husband, Brad Pitt, the film bombed at the box office. In 2016, she lent her voice to Kung Fu Panda 3, as the character Tigress.She is also considering starring in Universal’s remake of The Bride of Frankenstein and Sony’s Shoot Like a Girl, based on the true story of American Air Force major and helicopter pilot Mary Jennings Hegar.As previously reported, while in Cambodia with her kids, Jolie opened up about her headline-making split from Pitt, 53, calling it a “difficult time.” “My family, we’ve all been through a difficult time,” Jolie said during a BBC interview when asked about how she's been dealing with the stress of the divorce. “My focus is my children, our children, and it is — and my focus is finding this way through. And as I said, we are and forever will be a family. And so that is how I’m coping. I’m coping with finding a way through to make sure this somehow makes us stronger and closer.”

As such, fans are clamoring for a sequel to the movie, and it looks like the main character herself is considering her return.Many are hoping that Angelina Jolie reprises her role as Maleficent once more in the sequel.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Angelina Jolie is pondering on many acting roles this year, and one of them is reliving her role as the powerful yet kind fairy turned bad and then turned good again for "Maleficent 2." Although she has not officially confirmed this yet, it is obviously going to be met with jubilation from a huge crowd of fans.This was not the first time that Jolie was rumored to accept the role for the sequel. The Wrap has also mentioned that Linda Woolverton, who created the script for the first film, is going to write the second movie's script with the expectation that Jolie will be there again. Maleficent 2 Sets Spring Filming Start Date

Maleficent 2 has set an April filming start date, with Angelina Jolie returning as the movie’s namesake. It was previously reported that the Maleficent sequel could begin production by the first quarter of the new year, so the project appears to be moving along as expected.It wasn’t previously clear when (and, to a degree, if) Jolie would be reprising her role as the Disney ex-villain Maleficent on the big screen. Jolie reportedly spent a significant chunk of last year debating whether or not to work on the Dark Universe’s Bride of Frankenstein reboot before or after returning for Maleficent 2. However, following the troubled production and lukewarm reception of Tom Cruise’s The Mummy, the Dark Universe has seemingly fallen apart and Jolie is now free to start filming the Maleficent sequel in London in a few months.Omega Underground is reporting that Maleficent 2 has already entered pre-production and is scheduled to start filming April 16th. Production will take place in London, with Marco Polo and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales co-director Joachim Rønning at the helm. Patrick Tatopoulous (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) has been added to the crew as production designer. The project is expected to complete principal photography in about four months, around the time that August rolls around.Jolie initially credited her return to the film, and acting in general, was due to her newfound role as the “breadwinner” of the family after her separation from husband, Brad Pitt. The unique spin on of Disney’s most well-known villains garnered a mixed to positive critical reception, and the film grossed $758 million worldwide.

There's still no production schedule for this film so far, which might mean that the young star will be free to join "Maleficent 2."Is Princess Aurora, however, still part of the story in the sequel? Details to the plot of "Maleficent 2" are scare but Jolie said that the script is still in the works.It was Maleficent's kiss that woke up Aurora at the end of the first movie as they forged a strong motherly bond against Aurora's father, the evil Stephan (Sharlto Copley).
