Maleficent fans got a big treat on Wednesday. Disney not only released a poster from the fantasy film, but they also named the release date for the sequel and revealed the title.'Angelina Jolie returns in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Coming to theaters October 18, 2019,' a caption for the new post revealed. The UK release has no specific release date as the studio only said it would come out in the 'autumn.'Originally, the movie was supposed to be released on May 29, 2020. Angelina can be seen all dressed up as the villain in a poster that is mostly black in color. This comes after a new image of Michelle Pfeiffer from the movie was released in late January.Production began on the sequel to smash hit Maleficent in May 2018. Jolie reprises her role as did Maleficent with Elle Fanning as Sleeping Beauty. The movie was filmed at Pinewood Studios, near London and in locations around Britain, the world's largest movie studio said in statement.'It's bring your mom to work day on the Maleficent 2 set,' Fanning joked in an Instagram post that had been shared last year.Alongside the message, she posted a picture of her in front of a laughing Jolie, who was in the famous Maleficent horns, as well as a pair of sunglasses and a toweling bathrobe.Maleficent, a modern retelling of the life of Sleeping Beauty's arch-nemesis, cast an instant spell on audiences in 2014, debuting at the top of the North American box office and going on to gross more than $750 million worldwide.Joining Fanning and Jolie for the latest adventure are Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Doctor Strange).Disney also confirmed that acclaimed British stage and screen actor Robert Lindsay (Wimbledon) would be among the newcomers, while Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville return from the original movie. In the sequel, directed by Joachim Ronning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales), Disney's most notorious villain continues to explore her complex relationship with Princess Aurora, the soon to be queen, as they form alliances against new adversaries.Fan reaction on social media was mostly positive, with much of the excitement being generated over the addition of screen legend Pfeiffer, 60, to the cast.Disney began scouring its back catalog in the 1990s for animated classics that it could turn into live-action remakes - a strategy that has so far netted several billion dollars.Tim Burton's Dumbo, Guy Ritchie's Aladdin and Jon Favreau's The Lion King are all examples. The Little Mermaid will see Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame collaborating with legendary Disney composer Alan Menken. Two remakes of Peter Pan are in the works along with new versions of Fantasia, Pinocchio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and The Sword in the Stone.Meanwhile, Jolie is still working out the terms of her divorce from Brad Pitt. The two split in September 2016 after a heated argument on a flight. The actress and humanitarian, 43, has Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10.

Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga Battling For ‘Cleopatra’ Movie?
- Details

Are Angelina Jolie and Lady Gaga battling for the lead role in the Cleopatra biopic? That’s the claim in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we’ve learned the truth.Jolie has been attached to star in a movie about the famous Egyptian queen for several years, but according to OK!, Gaga may swoop in and steal the role. An alleged insider tells the magazine, “Angie has wanted to work on the film for a very long time, but it looks like she’s going to have to go up against Lady Gaga for the lead.” The supposed source goes on to say that following the success of A Star Is Born, the singer is being offered tons of film projects, but she wants Cleopatra “more than anything.”“Gaga feels like she’s at the perfect point in her career to tackle a role like this,” adds the questionable tipster, who goes on to say that the singer has a better chance than Jolie of nabbing the part, but the actress won’t back down without a fight. “Both ladies are prepared to try to outdo each other by any means possible,” adds the seemingly phony source.
The outlet’s story is based on claims from a so-called “industry insider,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Gaga’s spokesperson, who had no knowledge of the singer being in the running for the Cleopatra movie. It’s safe to say that Gaga’s own rep knows more about her career plans than a tabloid’s anonymous and untraceable “source.”It’s also worth noting, Cleopatra has been in development for nearly a decade, and it’s unclear if filming will get underway anytime soon. Jolie has been trying to get the project off the ground for several years, but there have been many hiccups along the way. The last update on the Cleopatra movie came more than a year ago when screenwriter David Scarpa spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his take on the story. There hasn’t been any news about the project since.Additionally, the Hollywood trade publications almost always break major casting news, but not a single industry outlet has reported that Gaga is circling the biopic. The singer is certainly a hot commodity in Hollywood following A Star Is Born, but there’s no indication she’s pursuing a full-time movie career. Last week, Gaga kicked off her Las Vegas residency, which runs through November. It’s hard to imagine the singer is actively campaigning for Cleopatra when her schedule is booked throughout 2019. Regardless, Gaga’s rep confirms the story is made-up.

Ang Lee Considering Directing Angelina Jolie's Cleopatra Movie

Ang Lee is very likely to get his third Best Director Oscar nomination tomorrow, and Life of Pi will probably scoop up a Best Picture nomination as well-- a nice comeback for the director who last made the little-seen comedy Taking Woodstock. And now that Lee is mulling his next project, he seems to be leaning toward making another project that's huge and high-profile, and that has lost several even huger directors along the way.Producer Scott Rudin has been shepherding a Cleopatra since 2006, and the likes of David Fincher, James Cameron and Paul Greengrass have all considered it before departing. Now Lee tells The Hollywood Reporter that "I'm about to read the script," and that after all the other films he's done, "It just feels right." Lee continues, "What does it have in common with any of them? They’re all totally different! That’s what makes this perfect.”Lee's right that his filmography is hugely varied, and he's probably feeling pretty good after the giant creative risk of LIfe of Pi paid off so well. With Jolie still attached to Cleopatra it should have no problem getting made as soon as a director commits, and Lee's recent buzz could probably make him just the director to do it. Can he finally help Cleopatra get off the ground and put Jolie in the role she was born for?.

Most of the upcoming fantasy film Come Away was filmed in the UK.But on Saturday star Angelina Jolie was spotted before she shot one of the last scenes of the movie in Los Angeles, dressed in a full length Victorian-style black dress and a blonde bouffant hairdo. It turned out, Saturday was the last day of filming. Two other photos show the former Mrs. Brad Pitt in her street cloths as she hurried along with her new blonde tresses still intact.A third picture shows co-star David Oyelowo arriving on the set.'Our film COME AWAY is now in the can! Can’t wait to share this magical reimagining of Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan with you all,' Oyelowo said afterwards in the caption of an Instagram photo that showed him with cast and crew members. In the selfie, Oyelowo flashed a big grin as he tried to fit as many faces as he could into the frame. While everyone seemed to be dressed in modern 2018 garb, Jolie stood out like someone from the 1800s with her voluminous blond locks and dress that covered her from head to toe.Stylists had her tresses parted off her chiseled face but added some little tendrils of curls to flow down both sides of her face. Last week, the actress was spotted in another regal costume while on set in Los Angeles. Her character Rose's signature blonde bouffant was adorned with a rust color flower and her burnt orange gown flowed behind her as she headed to shoot a scene. The fantasy drama is a retooling of two classic children's tales, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland.Angelina and Oyelowo play Rose and Jack, respectively, who are the parents of Peter and Alice.
Come Away has a darker overtone than the cartoon versions of the stories where Peter and Alice work to help their parents overcome the death of one of their children. However, the fantasy drama will still take viewers through the looking glass and to Neverland .The Maleficent star has been busy juggling several projects as she and ex-husband Brad Pitt, 54, continue their ongoing custody battle over their children. Last month the couple reportedly met for a secret meeting after a particularly tense few months in their divorce proceedings.'Brad and Angelina actually set up a secret meeting at her house. It’s the first time they have truly gotten together to make things work since their group therapy with the children,' a source told ET in September.'Brad and Angie’s meeting was a success. They are going to stay with the plan set forth through the courts,' the insider continued.'Angelina decided it was time to try to make things work and Brad was relieved and very ready for the offer. The former mega-star couple - who split in 2016 after a decade together - share six children: Maddox, 17, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 10.
