The singer, a longtime friend of Pitt‘s (she sang at his wedding to Jennifer Aniston), told Andy Cohen that she’s heartbroken over all the news surrounding the divorce during her visit to Cohen’s Sirius XM radio show Andy Cohen Live Monday.“It breaks my heart that anyone would take something as personal as your marriage and your relationship and your rights to your children and do it as purposefully as I see it’s being done,” she said. Etheridge, who went through her own custody battle with ex Tammy Lynn Michaels in 2010, criticized Jolie and her legal team for how they’re handling the news surrounding the divorce.“There’s a way to be. I’ve gone through family courts,” Etheridge said. “I’ve been twice around this block, and I know it really well, and I know when there’s some forethought to just how mean [you can be] and just how you’re going to put disinformation out there first.” When asked by Cohen about allegations Pitt got verbally abusive and physical with his son, Etheridge, who also admitted to not having contact with Pitt for “years,” called them “completely unfounded” and “heartbreaking.”A source close to Jolie previously told PEOPLE that she was acting in the best interests of her family. “Angelina did what she felt she needed to do,” said the source.
