A controversial painting of a topless Angelina Jolie after her recent double mastectomy has been unveiled. The portrait, painted by artist Johan Andersson, is expected to fetch over £15,000 after going on display in a Los Angeles art gallery.Angelina Jolie underwent the life changing surgery in February after she discovered she carried the same gene which caused her mother Marcheline Bertrand’s ovarian cancer.Mr Andersson, one of the youngest ever artists to be exhibited at the National Portrait gallery, said his own mother's struggle with breast cancer inspired the oil painting.Swedish Mr Andersson made a name for himself through highly commended portraits of singer Amy Winehouse and ex-dictator of Libya Muammar Gaddaffi. He said: ‘My mother had aggressive breast cancer when I was 15, the thought of her having to have a mastectomy really scared me and she was fortunate enough to have surgery without the mastectomy.‘The recent news about Angelina stirred an anxiety within me leading me to paint this portrait. There is an underlying awkwardness in her demeanour in juxtaposition to the natural beauty of her face.’The Oscar-winning actress underwent the surgery after learning he carried the BRCA1 gene mutation that doctors estimated gave her an 87 per cent chance of developing breast cancer.Angelina’s mother Marcheline Bertrand fought a six-year battle against ovarian cancer, which took her life aged 56.Angelina, 37, is now expected to have a hysterectomy and an oophorectomy, where the ovaries are removed, to combat her raised odds of developing ovarian cancer, which stand at 50 per cent.Angelina and Brad Pitt have six children, Maddox, 11, Pax, nine, Zahara, eight, Shiloh, six, and four-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne. The three eldest are adopted while the three youngest are the couple’s biological children.Johan Andersson is the youngest artist ever to be short-listed for the BP Portrait Award, which also makes him one of the youngest artists ever to be exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery.Proceeds from the sale of the painting will go to the Falling Whistles charity that campaigns for peace in the Congo, a cause which Angelina Jolie is passionate about.

How precious! Hilarious photos show celebrities turned in Gollums to celebrate The Hobbit's release

Andy Serkis was rightly praised for his work turning a civil Londoner into a feral version of a hobbit in the Lord of the Rings films, but was the millions of dollars spend capturing his performance really necessary? With the Hobbit just released you can decide for yourself comparing that film to these hysterical images of celebrities turned into Gollums with the magic of computer graphics as opposed to a corrupting enchanted ring. Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt and Rhianna may be sex symbols but the look of a hobbit doesn't suit them. Hollywood.com created the images of celebrities with 'Gollum Eye' in celebration of the Hobbit's release. The bizarre portraits are made using face morphing software, which can take two separate images and find the midpoint between them. Director Peter Jackson's Oscar-winning series of epic films based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien were huge critical and financial successes. The new film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, is already a smash having broken two US records at the box office to become the highest grossing Christmas movie of all time. Peter Jackson's adaption of JRR Tolkien's classic novel kicked off with takings of $37.5 million - the biggest December Friday opener in domestic history. Though so far a box office success, the new film has been given a middling reception by critics with some criticizing the film for drawing out a fairly slim story better suited for single film than an entire trilogy. The film then took $28.1 million on Saturday to claim the record of the largest December weekend at the American ticket office, even without Sunday's takings being calculated. Warner Brothers are predicting the movie could earn over $85 million in the U.S. for the whole weekend.

Halle Berry opened up about her 'rocky start' with Maude v Maude co-star Angelina Jolie, though she added it will likely help the film. It was reported in April that Warner Bros. emerged victorious in a competitive bidding situation over several studios for the action-thriller. Both Berry, 57, and Jolie, 48, were attached to both star and produce through their respective production companies.Berry spoke with Variety at the Red Sea Film Festival, where she admitted her and Jolie didn't get off to a great start, but they both bonded over divorce and exes. 'We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,' Berry said. The actress added she is, 'thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view. She is formidable.' Berry wouldn't elaborate on the initial friction between her and Jolie, adding people will have to wait to hear that story, but insisting it's a, 'good one.' 'We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that,' Berry admitted, with both actresses thrice divorced. Berry was previously married to baseball star David Justice (1993-1997), singer-songwriter Eric Benet (2001-2005) and Olivier Martinez (2013-2016).
Jolie was married to her Hackers co-star Jonny Lee Miller (1996-2000), Billy Bob Thornton (2000-2003) and Brad Pitt (2014-2019). Berry also described Maude v Maude as a mixture of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and Mission: Impossible with a comedic twist, adding she was looking forward to battling with her co-star, 'physically and intellectually.' The actress' trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia had dual purposes, to attend the film festival and to scout locations for Maude v Maude. She visited Jeddah's historical center Al-Balad before the interview, insisting that the film would truly be a globe-trotting adventure.'We plan on going all around the world. Warner Bros. bought our screenplay and, for us, it is about going places that have never been shown on screen before,' she said. Roseanne Liang (Shadow in the Cloud) is directing from a script by Scott Mosier, who started his career as a producer on director Kevin Smith's indie hit Clerks. Berry will produce with her producing partner Holly Jeter through their HalleHolly production company. Jeff Kirschenbaum and Joe Roth are also producing through their RK Films company, though it's unclear when production will begin. Berry has The Union with Mark Wahlberg and The Mothership with Omari Hardwick slated for release in the new year.

It appeared Bono and arachnids didn't mix when his "Spider-Man" musical had a rough Broadway run, but that didn't keep a biologist from naming an actual spider species after the U2 singer.Jason Bond of Alabama's Auburn University has identified 33 new species of trapdoor spider (genus Aptostichus), including three of them in the California desert at Joshua Tree National Park. The park's namesake is featured in the title and cover of U2's 1987 album, "The Joshua Tree."The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports that Bond named two of the spiders after Indian tribes and one, A. bonoi, after Bono.Bond also named other spider species after actress Angelina Jolie and civil rights activist Cesar Chavez. All but three of the new species were discovered in California.Other species have been named after naturalist John Muir, photographer and photojournalist Dorothea Lange, magician Penn Jillette, President Barack Obama, Sarlacc (a creature from the fictional desert planet Tatooine in "Star Wars"), and Bond's 9-year-old daughter, Elisabeth. The paper reports that, after complaining that he wasn't honored with a spider name, political satirist and talk show host Stephen Colbert was also honored by Bond with his own species. The trapdoor spider, found in the Southwestern U.S., is so-named because it makes a hatch to hide from prey.

Meghan Markle twins with Angelina Jolie! Duchess channels Hollywood humanitarian with similar outfits and body language during visit to Jordan

The Duchess of Sussex appeared to draw inspiration from renowned humanitarian Angelina Jolie on her quasi-royal tour of Jordan.Meghan, 44, and Prince Harry travelled to the Middle East at the invitation of the World Health Organisation for two days of engagements this week focused on mental health and support for vulnerable communities impacted by conflict and displacement. And during which time, the mother-of-two appeared to look to one of Hollywood's most respected do-gooders, not merely given the nature of the trip, but also by ditching her usual glitz and glamour for a low-key wardrobe. For Thursday morning's visit to the National Centre for Rehabilitation of Addicts, Meghan wore a £109 grey wool-blend topstitched jacket from Zara, the Spanish brand also favoured by her sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales. It marked the second time she championed the high-street brand on the trip - wearing a khaki Zara T-shirt for a game of football the day prior. She paired the coat with black suit trousers and black heels, and in keeping with the pared-back look, she left her usual stack of bangles and glittering diamonds at home. The only visible jewellery was her gold wedding band and Cartier Love bracelet. In addition to adopting a more casual style, the white shirt and T-shirt Meghan wore at the Za'atari refugee camp echoed those of Angelina's outfit when she visited the Domiz refugee camp in Iraq's Kurdistan. It wasn't just Angelina's understated clothing that Meghan understandably appeared to mirror, but also, naturally when on this sort of trip, her empathetic gestures.
Angelina, 50, who has conducted over 60 field missions to advocate for refugees, established, together with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which supports community conservation, much like the Archewell Foundation established by Meghan and Harry. The pair also concentrate much of their efforts in similar areas, such as childhood and education.Jolie, for instance, established the Jolie Legal Fellowship in Haiti before the Sussexes helped fund the tuition-free Marcy Lab School in Brooklyn, a one-year fellowship alternative to college for software engineering. At the start of the busy tour, Meghan held hands with a 14-year-old burns victim from Gaza. She was with the girl called Maria during a visit to the Specialty Hospital in Amman, where the couple also talked to doctors. The Duke and Duchess watched a music class at the QuestScope youth centre at Za'atari refugee camp near Mafraq, and took part in a football session. They also attended a roundtable discussion in Amman with people from the United Nations and many of its agencies, diplomatic representatives and donors. The couple, who stepped down as working royals in 2020 for personal and financial freedom, travelled to Jordan at the invitation of the World Health Organisation (WHO).WHO director-general Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warmly welcomed the couple on the steps of the organisation's office in Amman. He kissed and hugged Meghan, who wore a white jacket and matching trousers, and also embraced Harry.
Yesterday, Harry and Meghan wrote messages of support to recovering addicts at a rehabilitation centre during the second day of their quasi-royal tour of Jordan. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined a WHO team as they spoke to patients at Amman's National Centre for Rehabilitation of Addicts. Promoting mental health support is one of the themes of their visit, and the couple both wrote notes on a wall in an attempt to encourage those receiving treatment. Meghan's note written on orange paper said: 'Congratulations on your dedication to your care. Wishing you continued healing and happiness.' And Harry wrote on a yellow note: 'It's OK to not be OK. Trust each other. Congratulations on your recovery. Now share your courage and experience.' The centre, operating under Jordan's ministry of health's national centre for mental health, has a 40-bed capacity and was inaugurated in 2001.It has served as a short-term residential and outpatient treatment centre, offering medical withdrawal services, psychological support and social counselling.Earlier that day, the couple visited a worldwide organisation feeding people in moments of crisis. The Sussexes travelled to the World Central Kitchen's regional headquarters where it coordinates and deploys a million hot meals across Gaza daily. The organisation was founded by celebrity chef Jose Andres, a staunch supporter of the couple who appeared on the second season of Meghan's Netflix cookery show.World Central Kitchen, established in 2010, uses a network of field and community kitchens, bakeries and partners to enable almost half of Gaza's population to be fed.Harry and Meghan chatted via video call with a distribution leader at one of the organisation's six field kitchens in Gaza.Wadhah Hubaishi, the organisation's response director for the Middle East and North Africa, told the couple that ochre and rice was the meal for today. He said: 'This is one of our most delicious meals for the Gaza people. Within two hours, we will start distributing the food.''We need 20 trucks (of supplies) every day from Egypt. Not enough trucks are coming in, that really affects us more than any other actor.'

Gwen Stefani wanted to take a stab at acting almost 20 years ago.So the No Doubt singer went in for auditions, she told Ellen on Wednesday, and one of them was for the starring role opposite Brad Pitt in the 2005 action movie Mr And Mrs Smith. But the blonde beauty - who is now 52-years-old - lost out to Angelina Jolie, who landed the role after Nicole Kidman dropped out. When Ellen asked Gwen what movie role she did not get, the siren said: 'Mr And Mrs Smith, Angelina beat me.'This is not the first time Gwen has talked about losing Mr And Mrs Smith to Jolie. In 2016 she told Howard Stern: 'I feel like I almost got it. I went to a bunch [of auditions]. [It was] very competitive and I wanted to do it, but I wanted to do music more.'And in 2008 she told Vogue magazine: 'It was between me and Angelina Jolie, and I'm like, "Oh, great. I got a shot here." The whole acting thing really feels like something I could do. Whenever I've done it, whenever I had moments where it works, it's just like performing. You hit a moment. And that's what movies are: a series of moments.'Brad and Angelina co-starred in the movie Mr And Mrs Smith and started dating after the film wrapped. They ended up raising six kids together, Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and 13-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. They got married in 2014 and she filed for divorce in 2016. Their divorce was finalized in 2019. Stefani has done some acting in the past: she popped up on Dawson's Creek in 2002, played Jean Harlow in the 2004 film The Aviator, was on Gossip Girl in 2009, and voiced DJ Suki in the 2016 film Trolls. The singer was promoting her new makeup line on Wednesday's episode of Ellen.Stefani said she was thinking about Ellen lately, because she's, 'ending a chapter' of her life, with her long-running talk show coming to a close this year.'I know that feeling. I ended Vegas after two years and I know the feeling of you love something so much but you're ready for the next chapter,' Stefani said.
Ellen brought up one of her past appearance, before she got married to Blake, where she told the host she would be her maid of honor, with Ellen simply asking, 'What happened?' 'COVID,' Stefani explained. 'It got really small. I had this fantasy of building like bleachers, but it got smaller and smaller, and as you know, the Lord works in mysterious ways.''It was the perfect amount of people. It was so intimate. It was so exactly what it needed to be,' she said, adding that the, 'marriage itself is just so fun.'She added that she is, 'so into it,' and she, 'feels very blessed,' as Ellen added that they could tell, 'you two just clicked.''He's my best friend. We just have so much fun,' Stefani enthused, as Ellen mentioned that Blake is back home on the ranch, 'literally tilling the soil.''He literally texted me an hour ago. He flew home today. We are doing a major - when we do things, we go big. We're doing major gardening,' she said.'We're talking about daffodils, we're talking about like tulips. We did all the bulbs, now we're doing wildflower seeds, now we're doing xenias. So I sent him home to figure out how to till all the land and dig a well,' she added. When Ellen asked if Blake is doing this all himself, Gwen said he has, 'one guy' but that Blake is, 'literally on the tractor turning the dirt for me when I get there.' She admitted, 'I personally like it when people do things for me... a lot. I'm from Anaheim, California and I'm lazy like that, but he actually likes to do it himself.'Stefani was struck by the fact that she was there to talk about her makeup line and she was talking about planting seeds because, 'it's such a huge thing in my life.''I think about all the different seeds that were planted in my life, these seeds of faith, the seeds of these wild ideas I had that actually came true, and even the one to fall in love with Blake. It's crazy because now I'm gonna go back there and plant so many flowers and they're gonna bloom, it's so exciting,' she admitted. She also played Burning Questions with Ellen, revealing that 'everything' she does embarrasses her kids, the weirdest rumor about her was that she was actually a man, that Blake's nickname for her is Pretty Girl and her nickname for him is Blakey.
