My Hero Academia’s Lady Nagant Was Inspired by Angelina Jolie

My Hero Academia's new villain Lady Nagant was inspired by Angelina Jolie's Wanted character "Fox" and her ability to bend bullets in fights. It seems that My Hero Academia's Lady Nagant was inspired by Angelina Jolie's character "Fox" from the movie Wanted. As revealed in Weekly Shonen Jump's author's comments, creator Kohei Horikoshi hinted at the inspiration behind the assassin. Leaving many fans more obsessed with the formally renowned hero's past and quirk abilities.
My Hero Academia Volume 32 cover features Lady Nagant, an ex hero assassin contracted by All For One to capture Deku. Volume 32 is set to release in Japan on October 4th, 2021 and the cover quickly glimpses at the deadly assassins' quirk, from her right arm resembling a gun barrel to her two-toned purple/pink hair. The character is striking a fierce pose while a yellow curved bullet outline separates the young hero, Deku from the nightly assassin on the cover. Lady Nagant's combat skills stem from her past as an assassin hired and trained by the Hero Public Safety Commission (the same organization that trained Hawks). However, after witnessing the HPSC's true intentions for maintaining peace, Lady Nagant began to question her purpose as a vigilante hero. She was then sent to Tartarus prison after assassinating the head of the HPSC and later freed with other resident villains Muscular, Stain, Overhaul, and All For One by Shigaraki. In Weekly Shonen Jump #24's author comments, Kohei Horikoshi gave a fun quote revealing the inspiration behind Lady Nagant and her quirk ability "Rifle". The mangaka exclaimed that "I learned you could bend bullets from the movie Wanted. Thank you, Angie!", which had fans excited to spot the comparisons between Lady Nagant and Fox from the 2008 film Wanted. Much like Lady Nagant's profession, Fox is also an assassin with special abilities much similar to a quirk.
Lady Nagant's quirk "Rifle" works as her right arm can turn into a sniper rifle and she's able to create bullets of any size by rubbing together pieces of her hair. She can snipe targets 3 kilometers out (roughly over a mile) and with the quirk "Air Walk" gifted to her by All For One, she's able to enhance her mobility by moving freely in the sky. Fox is also an assassin with rare abilities that allow her to curve or bend bullets at will. She's a master weapons specialist and can increase her heart rate granting her superhuman speed that plays an important role in her ability to curve bullets. Just like Lady Nagant's custom bullets, Fox also uses specially engraved bullets that are lethal to targets and untraceable. Although Lady Nagant and Fox are assassins they aren't inherently bad people.Lady Nagant is still originally a hero and that showed in her escape from Tartarus when she noticed Overhaul needed help escaping from his cell. She could have left the previous head Shie Hassaikai alone but her hero instincts took over and she chose to stay with him when he needed help the most. Angelina Jolie's character Fox was never a hero and betrayed Wesley but still chose to help him after finding out the truth behind the assassin group's leader. Kohei Horikoshi's love for western comics is clear in My Hero Academia but this latest movie reference to the film Wanted left fans excited for future western influences in the popular manga.

Tunisia’s Angelina Jolie-lookalike Covid-19 vaccine prank show angers WHO

World Health Organisation says programme will spread vaccine scepticism. It is a Ramadan tradition: each night after iftar, millions of Tunisians tune in to their favourite Ramadan shows – limited-run series filled with intrigue, romance, or comedy. But this week, one popular production, a candid camera prank show called Angelina 19, had the World Health Organisation demanding it be removed from the airwaves. Each night the show invites a local sports star, musician or politician to a panel discussion about Covid-19, before a surprise guest arrives: an Angelina Jolie lookalike in her role as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations. The fake Jolie tells the audience she is donating thousands of doses of a vaccine "approved by the WHO" to Tunisia, and persuades them to get vaccinated on camera.A "renowned Tunisian cardiologist" vouches for the vaccine, and the group retires to a room offstage to line up for the jab.But events take a turn when two of the actors in the show fall to the floor, convulsing and screaming in pain, shortly after receiving the fake vaccine. Chaos ensues and one of them is "pronounced dead".The candid camera captures the shock and horror of the celebrities as they try to navigate the situation. While the show’s producers claim this is all for comic effect, the WHO is not laughing. In addition to the misappropriation of the WHO logo and name, the organisation is worried about the show’s effect on vaccine hesitancy. In a letter to the Minister of Health, the WHO’s representative in Tunisia, Yves Souteyrand, called for the show to be removed from the airwaves.“It is known that part of the population is reluctant to be vaccinated and that major efforts must be made to build trust in the vaccine,” the letter, obtained by The National, reads.“The media have a role to play in this area. But, we fear that this kind of programme, broadcast on a popular channel with a broad audience, will promote scepticism, hesitation to get vaccinated and conspiracies, by associating the vaccine with death or serious side effects.” Uptake of the vaccine slowed in recent weeks after an initial surge when the first doses arrived in the country. A little more than 271,000 Tunisians have received at least one dose of the vaccine, although millions of doses are available. Of the more than 11 million people living in Tunisia, just 1.3 million are registered in the online system for obtaining a vaccine. Many Tunisians already question whether the vaccine is effective, safe or necessary.Aymen Tarhouni, 28, said he was not planning on getting vaccinated.“My mother got it a few months ago,” he said while out enjoying a warm day in Tunis’s bustling downtown. “Thankfully she made it, so for me I think I’ll leave it in God’s hands.” He said that he does not like to check the daily number of new infections, “because it adds anxiety to my life that I don’t need”. But the number of new infections continues to climb steadily, with nearly 2,000 new cases reported each day. Hospital ICU units are nearing capacity and deaths have climbed past 10,000. Last week a government scientific adviser warned that the healthcare system could collapse if the caseload did not come down. Some of Tunisia’s most vulnerable, the elderly, are still sceptical whether the vaccine is safe. Abdelaziz, 71, said he had registered with the online system, but was worried about the possible ill effects of the jab. “There's not enough information about some vaccine types,” he said, “especially the one that causes blood clots.” For Nadia, 36, Angelina 19 is just another hurdle in her quest to persuade her ageing mother to get vaccinated. “We young people know the show’s a candid camera, a prank,” she said. “But old people don’t necessarily get that, and it scares them. My mother still won’t get her vaccine.”

Loki Star Reveals How Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie's Mr. And Mrs Smith Inspired The Finale, And It Makes So Much Sense

The first season of Marvel Studios’ Loki has come and gone, and it ultimately delivered on its promise of action, adventure and of course, mischief with the titular character. The show also includes a number of references to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe (or multiverse). It seems, though, that the show was not solely inspired by what’s come before in the world of Marvel. One star has actually revealed that the season finale also took inspiration from the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and it now makes so much more sense.Loki was filled to the brim with action sequences, yet the most emotionally-charged moment is arguably the fight between Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie in the season finale. During the scene, the two had just met with Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains, who offered them the chance to succeed him as the managers of the multiverse and warned them of his devious variants. Unfortunately, the two protagonists couldn’t agree on whether to trust the eccentric TVA founder, and this ultimately prompted their duel.Sophia Di Martino recently caught up with Vanity Fair to chat about the season’s game-changing final episode and the series as a whole. It was during her chat that she revealed that Loki and Sylvie’s final fight was partially inspired by the house-damaging brawl that occurs between Angelina Jolie (who Di Martino taps herself as) and Brad Pitt’s characters in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. That fight occured after the lead characters realized they worked for rival organizations and had been ordered to eliminate each other. It’s completely understandable that the creatives behind Loki would want to channel Mr. and Mrs. Smith when it comes to that final fight. Although the circumstances are incredibly different in the MCU series, the brawl is similar in that it focuses on two characters who are fighting out of obligation despite the fact that they both care about each other.Of course, Loki’s sequence doesn’t culminate in passionate sex, which nearly played a large role on the show. Still, the kiss at the end of the battle is a bittersweet way to close things out for would-be lovers Sylvie and Loki. You can revisit the heartbreaking moment by streaming the finale on Disney+, which you can sign up for using this link. The Loki season finale has certainly left fans wondering whether Sylvie and the Asgardian trickster will get their happy ending like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s John and Jane. And with Sylvie seemingly having regret about her decision to kill Kang’s variant and push Loki out of the citadel, one has to wonder if she’ll ever want to face him again.Nevertheless, the two are bound to meet up again in Season 2 and could eventually find their way to a lasting romance. But if that is to be the case, it’s a pretty safe bet that their journey to true love will continue to be even wilder than that of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

An Instagram star who used makeup and editing to make her face look like a “Zombie Angelina Jolie” was sentenced to a decade in an Iranian prison a year after she was arrested for her social media activities.Sahar Tabar, 19, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand, gained nearly 500,000 followers after posting images of her eerily gaunt face.Tabar’s lawyer confirmed his client was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the past few days, the Daily Mail reported. She was charged with corruption of young people and disrespect for the Islamic Republic, according to the Guardian. She was also charged with blasphemy and inciting violence when she was arrested in October 2019 along with three other Instagram influencers. She was cleared of those charges. Iranian state TV broadcast her confession in late October last year. Her attorneys tried to get her released in April after she caught COVID-19 in jail. Her Instagram account was deactivated.“Her joke landed her in jail,” tweeted Iranian journalist and activist Masih Alinejad. “Her mother cries every day to get her innocent daughter freed.” Medical records showed she had a mental illness, with a history of visits to psychiatric hospitals, making her lengthy sentence less understandable, The Guardian reported. Alinejad even appealed to Jolie, asking the actress and humanitarian activist to help Tabar. “Islamic Republic has a history of tormenting women. We need to be united against this gender apartheid.”

Instagram star ‘Zombie Angelina Jolie’ catches coronavirus in Iranian jail

A human rights organization says that a jailed Iranian Instagram star — known for her transformation into a “zombie Angelina Jolie” — is currently on a ventilator after contracting the coronavirus in custody.Lawyers for Fatemeh Khishvand, known on Instagram as “Sahar Tabar,” had asked for her to be released amid the country’s COVID-19 outbreak, but a judge refused to grant bail, according to the US-based Center for Human Rights in Iran.“We find it unacceptable that this young woman has now caught the coronavirus in these circumstances while her detention order has been extended during all this time in jail,” human rights lawyer Payam Derafshan told the organization on Wednesday.Khishvand, 22, was arrested in October amid a nationwide crackdown on Instagram celebrities. She faces a slew of charges including blasphemy, inciting violence and encouraging the corruptin of young people, for expressing herself on her widely followed Instagram account.Instagram is the only social media app available in Iran, with Facebook and Twitter banned. Khishvand shot to fame in 2017 after claiming that she’d had “50 surgeries” to look like her favorite Hollywood star — and posting selfies showing her hollow cheeks, inflated lips and cartoonish upturned nose. The shocking, emaciated look was actually created with the help of makeup and digital editing. Last year, she shared images with her tens of thousands of followers showing what she actually looks like.Judge Mohammad Moghiseh repeatedly declined to release her on bail as the coronavirus spread across the country — and is now nowhere to be found, Khishvand’s lawyer said.Jail officials in Tehran denied that the Instagram star had caught the illness — a claim her lawyer scoffed at.“It seems like it has become a habit for the authorities to deny everything,” Derafshan told CHRI.“It makes no sense to deny this. The prison director should acknowledge the infection and admit she has been hospitalized.”The attorney called on authorities to release Khishvand and other inmates detained on non-violent charges amid the outbreak.“Many women in Shahr-e Rey Prison have contacted my colleague and me about the terrible situation inside the prison and the fear that exists among the inmates [due to the coronavirus],” he said.“We want the authorities to issue a general order to allow these prisoners to be temporarily released. In the absence of judges who are sick or not coming to work, this is the only solution.” There have been at least 77,995 reported cases of the virus in Iran, with 4,869 deaths.
