She’s got dad’s support. Jon Voight spoke exclusively with Us Weekly, saying that he is “rooting” for his daughter, Angelina Jolie, her estranged husband, Brad Pitt, and their six children even though the pair split last year.“It’s a difficult time, and I don't like to talk about it, but of course, I'm thankful for everybody's good wishes and prayers,” the 78-year-old actor told Us at the Hallmark party at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California, on Saturday, January 14. “And I hope things work out.” Asked about Jolie, 41, and Pitt’s custody agreement, Voight told Us that he is remaining hopeful about the future of the former couple’s relationship for the sake of his grandchildren, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.“I’m rooting for them. I don't want this thing to dissolve. I'm rooting for the kids,” the Ray Donovan star told Us. “My heart is with everybody, and my daughter, certainly, and the children.” Voight and Jolie were formerly estranged, but have since repaired their once-volatile father-daughter dynamic.Pitt, 53, sought to make custody details relating to their kids private, after Jolie’s lawyer filed paperwork outlining the pair’s temporary, voluntary arrangement with the court back in December. The Allied actor's request was denied by a judge at a hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court on December 7. As Us Weekly reported on January 9, Jolie and Pitt reached an agreement to keep their divorce and custody battle out of the public eye, which they revealed in a joint statement."The parties and their counsel have signed agreements to preserve the privacy rights of their children and family by keeping all court documents confidential and engaging a private judge to make any necessary legal decisions and to facilitate the expeditious resolution of any remaining issues,” the actors’ reps told Us. “The parents are committed to act as a united front to effectuate recovery and reunification."Despite his fight over custody with Jolie, a source previously told Us that the Fight Club hunk is focusing on his health in the new year. “He lost a bunch of weight,” an insider said. “He’s focusing on himself again, watching what he eats and has a chef making him healthy meals.” Back in November, Pitt was cleared of child abuse allegations by the FBI — just months after Jolie filed for divorce on September 19, citing irreconcilable differences. She requested full custody of their children, and Pitt temporarily agreed to abide by a therapist's decision on whether to grant permission for visits.

Jon Voight was in a jolly mood at the 22nd Critics' Choice Awards. After posing for photographers on the red carpet, the 77-year-old Ray Donovan actor—nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category—spoke to E! News about his holiday plans and gave an update on how Angelina Jolie is doing in the wake of her divorce from Brad Pitt."Christmas is family, and I have lots of family. I'm hoping to see my grandchildren. I'm hoping to see my grandnieces and nephews and be with them. I'm making the plans now," he told E!'s Marc Malkin. "By the way, I'm supposed to be making these plane flights right as we speak."But, like many actors who've been on the awards circuit, Voight admitted, "I'm a little behind." Though he still has to finalize his travel arrangements, Voight isn't entirely behind schedule this year. In fact, he already has his grandchildren's Christmas presents picked out. "I have a couple of things that I do for the grandkids. They look forward to the same things every year," he said. "The kids in New York, we get to see a show. So, I get them all tickets to a show that they like." This will be Jolie's first Christmas since filing for divorce from Pitt in September. The breakup has been hard on everyone in the family, and as a result, the actors and their six children are undergoing individual and group counseling. "She's OK," Voight said of Jolie. "She's holding on." When E! News caught up with Voight at the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them premiere last month, he politely declined to discuss the details of his daughter's divorce. "I appreciate everybody's concern and their prayers," he said. "Hopefully things will work out." Shortly after Jolie, 41, filed for divorce, she and Pitt reached a temporary custody agreement. Weeks later, the FBI closed its investigation into Pitt regarding an alleged incident between him and a child aboard a private plane on Sept. 15. The Allied actor, 52, later asked a judge to make all matters related to their divorce private; the judge will decide on the matter next year.

Daddy knows best? Brad Pitt is speaking with Angelina Jolie's estranged father, Jon Voight, about their divorce, Us Weekly exclusively reveals.A source tells Us that the Oscar-winning actor, 77, and Pitt, 52, have remained close over the years since the couple got together in 2005."[Pitt] told her dad that what he loves about her is how passionate and extreme she is," the source says. "He's been drawn to that." The Ray Donovan star has had some choice words to his son-in-law about his world-famous daughter, however. In their discussions, Voight has told Pitt that Jolie, 41, is "erratic" like her mother, the late Marcheline Bertrand, the insider says. Jolie was always close to Bertrand, who died at age 56 from ovarian cancer in 2007. (Voight and Bertrand were married from 1971 to 1980.) The Maleficent actress and Voight, meanwhile, have had a well-known bumpy relationship punctuated by long periods of estrangement. In fact, Jolie isn't happy that he's been giving Pitt advice."She is really pissed at her dad," the insider tells Us. "She is really bothered that he is talking to Brad. … Angelina is speaking to [Voight] but not a lot and not telling him hardly anything because she doesn’t trust him." As previously reported, Jolie filed for divorce on September 19, after two years of marriage. Jolie was given temporary physically custody of their children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — although the pair continue to share legal custody.Pitt reunited with their kids October 8 for the first time since the divorce filing. However, as Us exclusively revealed, Maddox was not in attendance."He chose not to go and stayed with Angie," a Jolie confidant told Us. A source added: "It wasn't full of joy and happiness."

Hollywood actor Jon Voight has hailed Donald Trump as a 'visionary' as he voiced support for the billionaire's bid to become the next US president. The Oscar-winner said Mr Trump was a 'wonderful character' and he was not aware his daughter, Angelina Jolie Pitt, had raised concerns about the Republican candidate's remarks about Muslims earlier this year.Voight, 77, told the Press Association: '(Mr Trump's) outside the system and he's an interesting character, he's a real character, but he's a wonderful character.'Look at what he's produced in terms of the extraordinary buildings that he has helped design, putting together these teams of people to do this extraordinary stuff.'He's a visionary. The children that he's raised give you an example of his moral character and his loving kindness. He's a loving man.'He's a great guy and he's just the perfect guy to come from outside the system to do a lot of the work that needs to be done.' Speaking at the premiere of Ben Hur in Los Angeles, Voight said he had not 'heard anything from Angie' after he was asked about his daughter's criticism of Mr Trump's call for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US.The actress told an audience in London in May: 'To me, America is built on people from around the world coming together for freedoms, especially freedom of religion. So it's hard to hear this is coming from someone who is pressing to be an American president.' Voight said: 'I haven't heard anything from Angie so I don't know what she has said but the concerns that we have now in terms of security, we have to have those concerns. Unfortunately we have to have them at this time.'I think people all over the world are coming to an understanding of that. We can't be naive. We're talking about human life here.'Voight, who won a Best Actor Oscar in 1979 for Coming Home, first endorsed Mr Trump in March, calling the entrepreneur 'funny, playful' and 'honest'.

Why Angelina Jolie Pushed Back At Jon Voight’s Efforts To Help During Brad Pitt Split

While Angelina Jolie deals with her devastating divorce from Brad Pitt, she’s pushing away her own father, Jon Voight. HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY learned that Jon ‘wants to help with his grandchildren,’ but Angie isn’t letting that happen. See why there’s a ‘divide’ between the two.Angelina Jolie, 47, has always had a tumultuous relationship with her father, Jon Voight, 77, but now the two seem to be further apart than ever. After Angie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, 52, back in Sept. 2016, Jon has been trying to be there for her, but it’s backfiring terribly. “Angelina‘s father is doing his best to be caring and supportive of his daughter and wants to help with his grandchildren during her divorce from Brad Pitt,” a source EXCLUSIVELY told HollywoodLife.com.However, Jon’s offers to help his family aren’t being taken the way he would like. “The delicate situation has only increased the divide between Angie and Jon. Not only has Angie told her dad very little about the divorce from Brad, but she has given her father strict instructions to not discuss the family issues regarding the split and the kids with anyone,” the source told us. This could be due to that fact that Jon has reportedly leaked private information about his daughter in the past. Although it was years ago, the trust they once had may still be broken.
Aside from any reported motives, we hear “Jon wants to be a loving father, but it is challenging when Angie does not give him the room to help out.” This is so sad. It’s hard to believe things went south, because, Jon played coy when asked about his daughter’s divorce at the end of Sept. 2016. He told FOX News Channel’s Your World With Neil Cavuto, “I certainly am concerned about the children and my love is with my daughter and I hope things work out well.” He seemed to be following Angie’s rules then, so we’re not sure what could have happened.Angie’s rejecting behavior toward her father could just be a result of her frustrations from her drug out divorce to Brad. Not to mention, the family is reportedly being investigated by the Department of Family and Child Services, for alleged verbal and physical on Brad’s part. Ugh.Not to mention, this whole ordeal is coming down pretty hard on the couples’ six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Shiloh, 10, Zahara, 11, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8. There are multiple reports that the children are dividing and lashing out. Maddox reportedly laid into Brad during their first reported meeting and claimed the actor was “not” his father. If that wasn’t bad enough, Pax and Shiloh reportedly told Angie, “they’d prefer to live with their father.” Wow.As the investigation into whether Brad was reportedly verbally or physically abusive toward his children or the actress continues, it looks the actor’s visits could be monitored for a lot longer. The investigation has reportedly extended, causing speculation that it can’t be good for Brad’s future.

Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight has held several critically acclaimed roles through the years, but none would compare to working alongside daughter Angelina Jolie Pitt – with the star doing what she does best behind the camera."I love my daughter, and I'm very impressed by her directing," Voight tells Cigar Aficionado in its December cover story, out Oct. 27. "I thought Unbroken was brilliant … now I'd like to be directed by her." Jolie Pitt made her directorial debut with 2011's In the Land of Blood and Honey, which preceded last year's release of Unbroken, a biographical account of Olympian Louis Zamperini's life after a near-fatal plane crash. While she is still spending time in front of the camera – including in the upcoming drama By the Sea, which she also directed and stars in alongside real-life husband Brad Pitt – Jolie has repeatedly voiced her passion of directing."I've loved being an actor, but I'm happier shining a light on actors," she previously told PEOPLE.
