One week after Angelina Jolie opened up about her "difficult" marriage to the actor, the father-of-six is refusing to respond to her remarks — but he's not pretending they didn't have an affect him.Brad, 53, felt Angie was “saying that the kids are trying to heal from him. He was really wounded by the way she phrased that," a source tells Life & Style exclusively. The 42-year-old actress' exact words were: "[Our children have been] very brave... in times they needed to be. We're all just healing from the events that led to the filing... They're not healing from the divorce. They're healing from some… from life, from things in life." Despite feeling as though his ex is "making him out to be the villain," the source says "he's rising above it... Although Angie took some strong shots at him in the interview, he knows he’s finally in a good place with the kids and that one day, he’ll have the custody arrangement that he wants." As Life & Style previously reported, Brad recently told his estranged wife that he'd like to raise their kids — Maddox, 16, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 11, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9 — full-time instead of seeing them just once a week. The proposal did not sit well with Angelina. As they approach the one-year anniversary of the divorce filing in September, the duo has still not finalized a custody agreement.Brad spoke out about the split for the first time in May, telling GQ Style, "It was too sad to be [home] at first, so I went and stayed on a friend's floor, a little bungalow in Santa Monica... Brad Pitt has revealed he’s stopped drinking and is in therapy in his first interview since his split from Angelina Jolie last September.In the extensive talk for GQ Style‘s summer issue, the 53-year-old actor mentioned his estranged wife’s name just once, recommending the interviewer check out her new movie First They Killed My Father: “You should see Angie’s film.”Speaking with the magazine, Pitt gets candid about a sprawling range of intimate topics, opening up about his six children with Jolie and the public custody fight over them — while admitting that his personal turbulence has been “self-inflicted.”Pitt also says that and he Jolie are “both doing our best” to work through the divorce — he concedes that the situation has been like a death — even as he reveals that the split has been “jarring” to their children to “suddenly have their family ripped apart.” After the bitter end of his 12-year relationship with Jolie, Pitt initially agreed to weekly supervised visits with their six kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8. The Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services and the FBI launched an investigation after Pitt allegedly got “verbally abusive” and “physical” with Maddox, his and Jolie‘s oldest child, after drinking on the couple’s private plane on Sept. 14, five days before she filed for divorce. They concluded that there were no findings of abuse and the former couple released a joint statement saying they were working with a private judge to resolve their divorce and would “act as a united front” moving forward. The FBI closed the criminal case with no charges.The actor traveled to three national parks with GQ Style, resulting in three new covers.Pitt spent much of the interview talking about his transformation since the split – including his healthy lifestyle changes.“I was boozing too much,” he shared. “It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again.”He added, “Truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good.”When asked how he simply stopped drinking, the Allied star said, “Don’t want to live that way anymore.”While he sticks to cranberry juice and “fizzy water” nowadays, Pitt admitted that he tends to take things too far.
Because it was “too sad” to be at the Hollywood Hills home where his six children spent much of their time, the actor said he crashed on a friend’s floor in Santa Monica following his split with Jolie.Despite his attempt to stay out of the spotlight in recent months, he fears for his kids after the details of his bitter custody battle were splashed across the media.“I worry about it more for my kids, being subjected to it, and their friends getting ideas from it,” he said. “And of course it’s not done with any kind of delicacy or insight—it’s done to sell. And so you know the most sensational sells, and that’s what they’ll be subjected to, and that pains me.” “I was really on my back and chained to a system when Child Services was called. And you know, after that, we’ve been able to work together to sort this out,” Pitt told GQ Style. “We’re both doing our best. I heard one lawyer say, ‘No one wins in court—it’s just a matter of who gets hurt worse.’ And it seems to be true, you spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you’re right and why they’re wrong, and it’s just an investment in vitriolic hatred. I just refuse. And fortunately my partner in this agrees. It’s just very, very jarring for the kids, to suddenly have their family ripped apart.”Pitt has been spending much of his time working with clay, plaster, rebar and wood to make things. The solitude allows him to reflect and “try to make sense of where we are at this time.”“I remember literally having this thought a year, a year and a half ago; someone was going through some scandal,” he said. “Something crossed my path that was a big scandal—and I went, ‘Thank God I’m never going to have to be a part of one of those again.’ I live my life, I have my family, I do my thing, I don’t do anything illegal, I don’t cross anyone’s path. What’s the David Foster Wallace quote? ‘Truth will set you free, but not until it’s done with you first.'” Pitt says the past six months have taught him to put family first.“People on their deathbeds don’t talk about what they obtained or were awarded. They talk about their loved ones or their regrets—that seems to be the menu,” he said. “I say that as someone who’s let the work take me away. Kids are so delicate. They absorb everything. They need to have their hand held and things explained. They need to be listened to. When I get in that busy work mode, I’m not hearing. I want to be better at that.” Pitt also said that he’s learning to face his feelings despite his upbringing, where he was taught to “just deal with it.”
“I’m personally very retarded when it comes to taking inventory of my emotions. I’m much better at covering up,” he said. “I grew up with a Father-knows-best/war mentality—the father is all-powerful, super strong—instead of really knowing the man and his own self-doubt and struggles. And it’s hit me smack in the face with our divorce: I gotta be more. I gotta be more for them. I have to show them. And I haven’t been great at it.” The actor’s blue eyes take center stage in the series of photos, each of which he looks directly into the camera unsmiling.One cover shows Pitt in a pink sweater and silver chain, with white sand dusted across his face. Brad Pitt had the “worst” Christmas ever following his September 2016 split from Angelina Jolie.According to a new report, the 53-year-old actor had a miserable holiday season after his request to have more time with his kids, Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 8, was allegedly denied at the end of last year.“[Brad Pitt] desperately misses having his kids with him for Christmas and New Year,” an insider explained to the Mail, according to a report by The Mirror on January 1. “He’s broken down in tears so many times – he’s not ashamed to cry anymore. Brad is like a broken man.” Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been separated since September of this year and in the months that followed Jolie’s divorce filing, which included a request for full physical custody, the children have been living with her full-time.According to the report, a hearing was held in regard to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s custody case last Wednesday and while neither attended, attorneys reportedly submitted information to their judge via email that shed more light on the ongoing situation with their children.In one email, the attorney of Brad Pitt, Lance Spiegel, said that although his client has complied with the child therapy process, “the therapy team has ignored or disregarded issues that [Brad] has raised.” Brad Pitt and his family have been in therapy since after his split from Jolie, which was followed by outrageous allegations of child abuse and two child abuse investigation, one by the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services and another by the FBI.
Once the investigations against Brad Pitt were dropped with no charges being filed, the actor’s lawyers asked his estranged wife’s legal team if she would agree to allow him more time with their children during the month of December. As the outlet explained, Brad Pitt requested his visitation take place during 30 to 60 minute monitored sessions. A short while later, Jolie reportedly rejected his request and her attorney allegedly accused Pitt and his team of ignoring the best interests of their children, which was decided by their therapists on a prior date.At the end of last month, a therapist allegedly agreed to allow Brad Pitt to see his kids on Christmas, but Jolie wasn’t happy about it.“[She’s] furious about this. She’s having a meltdown,” a source revealed to In Touch Weekly magazine before the holiday. “After being told that the kids were cleared to visit [Brad Pitt] at his house she tried to change the terms and have the visit at her home. But she was firmly told no. And that made her furious.”Following Jolie’s divorce filing, in which the actress requested full physical custody, it was revealed that Brad Pitt had filed his response to the documents and requested joint custody of their kids.“[Brad Pitt] filed papers this week wanting everything sealed and attacking Angelina for making details of their battle public, claiming it would hurt the children. One of those details was Angelina naming the therapists who are treating the children. But this is a big victory for Brad as Angelina didn’t even want the kids to see him on Christmas,” the insider added.After Brad Pitt visited with his children on Christmas, Jolie and the kids traveled to Colorado for the New Year and on Sunday, they were seen grabbing an ice cream in Crested Butte. In photos shared by the Daily Mail on January 2, Angelina Jolie was seen holding the hand of Vivienne, her youngest biological daughter with Brad Pitt, as her other biological children, Knox and Shiloh, walked beside her.

The 53-year-old actor has been locking himself away in an art studio following his breakup with Angelina Jolie, an eyewitness tells ET.According to the eyewitness, Pitt has taken up sculpting as a hobby under the direction of his friend, British artist Thomas Houseago, spending up to 15 hours a day in the studio, until the early hours of the morning.The father of six reportedly arrives in the late morning hours on a motorcycle, sporting a new look to go with his new hobby.Earlier this month, Pitt arrived at the studio via motorcycle in skinny jeans and a yellow flannel.
