Angelina’s Feud With Charlize EXPLODES Over ‘Bride of Frankenstein’ Role

The 'hate fest' between Jolie & Theron 'just won't stop,' says a source.Angelina Jolie is stalling on committing to a Bride of Frankenstein remake, and RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned the delay may be a ploy to purposely annoy her rival, Charlize Theron.Last month, Universal Pictures introduced its “Dark Universe,” a Marvel-type of movie crossover family, starting with Tom Cruise’s The Mummy reboot, and scheduled to include some of history’s most famous horror monsters, including The Invisible Man, starring Johnny Depp, Dr. Jekyll, with Russell Crowe, and Frankenstein’s Monster with Javier Bardem.Jolie, 42, is being courted for the Bride of Frankenstein, with Theron, 41, tapped as the runner-up. But Radar has learned Jolie is stringing Theron along, refusing to commit to the project, and denying the Mad Max: Fury Road star the opportunity to accept other roles, as she awaits a decision.“Angie hasn’t made a deal with Universal to do their next monster flick, but the offer’s still on the table. She could use the $20m paycheck,” an insider told Radar. “She seems to enjoy sticking it to Charlize, who wanted to do this film and is convinced Angie stepped in to take it off her.”The two A-listers, who often play powerful women in film roles, have been on a Hollywood turf war for years. Their beef only increased when Theron was considered for a part in the remake of Murder on the Orient Express. A part that Jolie initially turned down.“The hate fest between these two started a long time ago and just won’t stop,” the insider said. “It’s as though directors are getting a buzz out of playing them against each other, by dangling a script to both of them then leaving them to bitch and slug it out.” Theron is no stranger to Hollywood feuds. In July 2014, former child actress Tia Mowry called her out for allegedly being mean to her when she bumped into the Oscar winner at a Los Angeles SoulCycle spin class.Mowry told In Touch: “I said, ‘Hi’ and she actually rolled her eyes and said, ‘Oh my God.'”

It seems Universal is still high on getting Dwayne Johnson and Angelina Jolie on board to play The Wolfman and the Bride of Frankenstein, respectively, in their Dark Universe. More past the jump...Though we have heard whispers of this before now, a new report suggests that Universal is still high on getting a couple more massive stars added to their Dark Universe.According to THR, the studio is eager to sign Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson up as The Wolfman, and Angelina Jolie as The Bride of Frankenstein, which is to be the next film in the burgeoning classic monster franchise. No negotiations have taken place yet (as far as we know, anyway) so we'll have to take theses potential castings as rumor for the time being. At any rate, not convincing Johnson and Jolie to join the fun may be the least of Universal's worries, as a separate source indicates that Warner Bros. is "mulling over" legal action for the rights to the Dark Universe brand.More on all of this as we have it, but in the meantime be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix Targets Angelina Jolie for Mystery Role

X-Men 7, officially titled X-Men: Dark Phoenix, is going to be one of three X-Men movies Fox is releasing in 2018. With production needing to get underway relatively soon in order for the movie to hit its November 2, 2018 release date, some casting rumors are starting to surface. If this particular rumor is true, Fox is going after some A-list talent in the form of Angelina Jolie for an unspecified role in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The news comes courtesy of Jeff Sneider, who dropped the revelation very subtly on the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press. While talking about Universal's possible plans of nabbing Angelina Jolie for the lead role in The Bride of Frankenstein, Sneider also slipped in that she appears to be in contention for a part in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Here's what he had to say about it. "I think Angelina Jolie needs to reassert her commercial viability and needs to do a big movie. And if it's not Dark Phoenix, which I don't think it will be, Then I think that she should do Bride of Frankenstein."Whether it is X-Men 7 or Bride of Frankenstein, Jeff Sneider certainly doesn't seem to be wrong about Angelina Jolie being in need of reasserting her commercial viability. In recent years she has taken more to directing, but since she didn't act in the fairly successful Unbroken, which she helmed, she hasn't been in a commercially successful movie in quite a while. Something like X-Men could put her right back in the spotlight, but, according to this, it probably won't happen. Fox can look at whoever they want, but that doesn't mean they are going to sign on the dotted line. Look at what happened with Marvel when they were trying to get Joaquin Phoenix to play Doctor Strange. At this point, outside of knowing that X-Men: Dark Phoenix is going to be taking another stab at the beloved Dark Phoenix storyline from the comics, which was first attempted (very poorly) in X-Men: The Last Stand, details have been pretty scarce. We know that Sophie Turner is coming back as Jean Grey and it seems likely that Michael Fassbender will be back as Magneto, as well as James McAvoy as Professor X. It also seems more than likely that Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm) and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) will reprise their roles from X-Men: Apocalypse as well. It is also rumored that the role of Rogue may be getting recast in this movie. Even with a cast like that, a big name like Angelina Jolie couldn't hurt anything. The movie does need a director right now, so maybe they can double up and lock her down for that as well? Though, it has been reported that long time series producer and writer Simon Kinberg is possibly going to make his directorial debut on X-Men: Dark Phoenix, so Angelina Jolie directing is a huge stretch. But after what Patty Jenkins did with Wonder Woman we can't say something like that is impossible. You can check out the full bit from Meet the Movie Press for yourself below, with the Angelina Jolie talk kicking in at around the 5:00 mark.
