Angelina Jolie is back as Maleficent and she has morphed into one intimidating mama bear as she tries to protect her adopted daughter Aurora, played by Elle Fanning.The new trailer for the October film Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil, which was released on Monday, sees the innocent blonde princess get a proposal from the love of her life, the dashing Prince Phillip.But all is not as it seems as Maleficent warns Aurora that love is not to be trusted. She is also seen going head-to-head with Michelle Pfeiffer's duplicitous Queen Ingrit.According to the press release, 'The years have been kind to Maleficent and Aurora. Their relationship, born of heartbreak, revenge and ultimately love, has flourished. 'Yet the hatred between man and the fairies still exists. 'Aurora’s impending marriage to Prince Phillip is cause for celebration in the kingdom of Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, as the wedding serves to unite the two worlds.'When an unexpected encounter introduces a powerful new alliance, Maleficent and Aurora are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.'The trailer opens with the sweet proposal from Prince Phillip, played by Harris Dickinson.The prince tells Aurora, 'Five years go I thought I lost you forever. There is no curse that could turn you away from me. Will you marry me?' Aurora is ecstatic but not everyone shares her joy.Maleficent is told of the engagement and is far from thrilled.'Phillip asked me to marry him,' says Elle's Aurora, clearing nervous about sharing the news with Maleficent. She plays with her aquamarine and gold ring on her wedding finger.'No,' says Maleficent as she seems unwavering.'I wasn't really asking,' says Aurora, now stronger.'Nor was I,' bites back Maleficent. 'Love doesn't always end well.''Trust me, let us prove you wrong,' replies Aurora who is full of hope for a bright future.Next Pfeiffer's Queen tells Maleficent that she will now become Aurora's mother. Maleficent goes wild, saying there will be no union, no wedding and Aurora needs to go home with her. The queen tells Aurora that Maleficent is a threat and she will protect her. It's made obvious that the queen's intentions are not good.War breaks out.Aurora tells Maleficent that she is being too evil and the mistress shoots back, 'You do not know me.'
It's clear that there is not enough in common between human and beast.Then we learn that are more winged creatures like Maleficent and they want her back, telling her she has spent years looking after a human and now it is time for her to 'take care of her own.' Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will be released in UK and US cinemas on October 18, 2019.The trailer comes weeks after new posters were released.And in one of them Jolie looks menacing with a white face, ruby red lips and a black outfit with her wings and horns in place.There were two other posters released as well showing Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith and Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora.Jolie looks different this time around from the 2014 original live-action film.She has her wings, which she did not have on during most of the first movie. And she is decorated in what appears to be claws or bird beaks.There is also one on her forehead.And the estranged wife of Brad Pitt is seen holding a green crystal ball wizard staff which looks to hold much power.The beauty has rings on her long, manicured fingers as well.Pfeiffer is regal in her stand alone poster. She has on a pearl crown with matching earrings and necklace in an opulent display of wealth.The blonde beauty, best known for Scarface and for playing Catwoman, has her hair twisted and worn up in a Swedish style.And she is clad in a gold and black gown with beige gloves.Then there is Fanning as Aurora in a blue lace dress with blue flowers in her braided and curled hair.She looks still innocent but also a bit worn her down from seeing much quarreling in her short lifetime. A light blue ribbon around her neck make her look like she's from another era. The trailer opens with a group of faeries flying around the huge castle, while Ingrith narrates, revealing she 'remembers the story of an evil witch,' as we get a look at Maleficent's horns.'And the princess she cursed to sleep forever,' Ingrith continues, as we get a new look at Fanning's Aurora, about to prick her finger on the spindle.Ingrith adds that the story, 'became legend,' while the prince proposed to Aurora, giving her a ring, as the faeries all fly away from the trees as Aurora and the prince embrace.Ingrith then goes on to say that, 'this is no fairy tale,' before Maleficent says, 'There are many others who prey on the innocent' as Maleficent is seen entering a grand hall, before she addresses Ingrith directly.'I'm sure your kind would agree,' Maleficent says, as a nervous King John (Robert Lindsay) looks on.'If I didn't know better, I would say you're making a threat,' Ingrith says, which Maleficent turns back on her.
