This special "Legacy Of Faith" edition that will put greater focus on Louis Zamperini’s life once he returned to America. In the years after surviving his plane crashing into the ocean, then being adrift at sea for 47 days, and ultimately being held in a prisoner-of-war camp, Zamperini went through many personal struggles. Eventually he had a religious epiphany, which is what helped him cope with his repeated trauma.Rather than focusing on Louis Zamperini’s religious renaissance, Angelina Jolie actually left this plotline out of the theatrical version of Unbroken. It’s been suggested that the movie’s relatively successful haul at the box office - which saw the biopic gross $161 million worldwide from a $65 million budget - could have been increased if Angelina Jolie had decided to include this facet to the finished film.Universal Pictures looks as though they’re trying to correct this matter with the release of Unbroken's "Legacy Of Faith" DVD, which they hope will convince and entice faith-based viewers to purchase the film. He explained: "The biggest criticism we got was from people in the faith-based community who read the book and said, ‘Well, it left out the whole Billy Graham scene.’" Because of the trauma he suffered as a POW, Zamperini suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder after he returned to America. In order to try and combat his fears he turned to drinking and fighting. As you can imagine, this put a great strain on his marriage and his wife was set to divorce him. However after he attended a sermon by Billy Graham in a tent, Zamperini recognized the error of his ways and set about changing his life.Unbroken’s "Legacy Of Faith Edition" includes footage of Billy Graham and Louis Zameperini together during the 1950s as their friendship grew, and there is also a vivid description of what occurred the day that they originally met. Luke Zamperini hopes that the release of the special DVD will allow both Christians and "people who don’t shop at Christian stores" to learn more about how religion impacted his father’s life.
