Angelina Jolie pleaded with the world Friday to come together and stop acting selfishly amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Academy Award winning actress spoke virtually in her capacity as a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) during an international forum hosted by Yonsei University, a school in Seoul attended by her eldest son, Maddox. She said the virus had exposed the world's vulnerabilities and areas where more work needed to be done, including climate change and the issue of displaced persons."And if we see, for example, in the pandemic that a few countries have taken the majority of the vaccines and other countries and peoples will be vulnerable without this. And we're going to act selfishly. It is not just unkind or unfair. It is ignorant," the 45-year-old said in a conversation with former U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon."It is not a way to balance and make a stable world, especially when we're talking about a global pandemic and a virus," she added.Ban weighed in, saying he believes the problem lies in a lack of compassion and the human instinct to care for oneself before paying attention to others."That is what global leaders have been doing, unfortunately," he said. "There has been almost a war to get more vaccines for their own countries." Jolie called it a privilege to have worked with the UNHCR for 20 years and noted there was no place she would rather be than to be sitting with displaced families. "We are not only doing what is the right thing to do. We are also building a future," the mother of six said, referring to the importance of reaching out to people across the world and helping them in their hour of need. Jolie explained that displaced people should not be regarded as a "burden" and that many of them are professionals who can be taught further using modern technologies and sent home to build stronger countries."We have to invest in people more than weapons," she stressed. "We have to come together and value people." Jolie made no reference to her son Maddox, who has reportedly been taking online classes from home since the pandemic struck. The actress visited the college campus in Seoul in November 2018 together with Maddox and her second child, Pax.

Meanwhile, Zahara forged her own way in a pair of denim skinny jeans and a black top. After making their way through the desolate shopping center, Angelina, Shiloh, and Zahara exited the building with various shopping bags in their hands.Zahara, aged 16, was the third child adopted by the actress and her former husband Brad Pitt. The former couple also adopted sons Maddox, aged 19, and Pax, aged 17, during their time together.Shiloh, aged 14, was the couple's first biological child; Jolie and Pitt also share twins Knox and Vivienne, both aged 12. Angelina Jolie says she wanted to join Chloé Zhao's Eternals as Thena because Marvel Studios wants to change how superheroes are perceived.Marvel Studios wants to change how superheroes are seen in Eternals, and that's why Angelina Jolie decided to join the project. Directed by Chloé Zhao, the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 film will introduce a new superhero team to the franchise. It will potentially shake up its power structure, and perhaps even its known history, since the Eternals are supposedly in existence for centuries already. Eternals boasts a talented ensemble cast including Jolie who's playing Thena. Not much is known about specific plot details for the movie at this point. Marvel Studios has yet to release any additional information beyond what was revealed in 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con and D23 Expo, where the company officially talked about the film. Created by the Celestials, the Eternals are powerful beings who are essentially immortals, which is why their stories span many years. The main narrative, however, will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Joining Jolie are Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Gemma Chan as Sersi, and Kit Harington as Black Knight, along with several others.Opening up to British Vogue about her decision to join the MCU through Eternals, Jolie reveals Marvel Studios and Zhao want to change how audiences view superheroes. While she didn't get into more detail about what this means, the actress sounds like she had a blast working on the movie despite this unexpected career turn.
I love this cast, and that we all came together. I signed up to support Chloé [Zhao]’s vision and Marvel’s commitment to expand the way we see "superheroes." Running around in a gold bodysuit was not how I imagined my forties. But it’s good crazy, I think.
Jolie joining the MCU has long been one of the most surprising parts of Eternals. These latest comments, however, lend some clarity to her decision. It seems Jolie found a common goal with Marvel Studios and Zhao in signing on for Eternals. It's hard to know for sure what the actress means by Marvel wanting to change how audiences see superheroes. However, she's most likely referencing the company's ongoing push for diversity and inclusion, which is an especially important aspect of Eternals. After a few scheduling changes brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, Eternals is now slated to release in November 2021. Still, Marvel Studios has yet to begin properly promoting the film, so there hasn't been an official close-up look at Jolie as Thena or any other characters from the movie. This is understandable considering how things easily change now due to the uncertain times. It's still possible the MCU's whole Phase 4 will shift again as Black Widow is once again threatened to be delayed. Nevertheless, based on what's been said about Eternals thus far, it sounds like it's going to be worth the wait.

Angelina Jolie joined four of her six children as they watched the US Election results in a captivating image from her new British Vogue shoot.Taken at her $25 million Los Angeles home last November, the actress, 45, looked radiant as she witnessed the event unfold alongside Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 14, and 12-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. The screen star - who also shares sons Maddox, 19, and Pax, 17, with ex Brad Pitt - shared her positive outlook towards the next few years as she said: 'Well, I put a lot of my hopes for the future on the younger generation. 'Maybe that’s because I live with six kids, aged 12 to 19, so I see that particular group – and I certainly see how much more pressure they are under than we were at their age. They’re overwhelmed with a lot of information that we were sheltered from.'But I see Mad online speaking in Russian to someone or talking to Korea, or Shi saying hi to her friends in Namibia, I see there’s this new way young people can connect and know each other in this global way. It’s how they’ll start to solve our problems.' Democratic Party's Joe Biden and Kamala Harris defeated the Republican Party ticket of then-president Donald Trump and vice president Mike Pence following an epic four-day election. Opting for a sophisticated appearance, the filmmaker wore a plain grey jumper and a maxi skirt, while her kids were dressed in casual outfits. Elsewhere in the interview for the publication's March edition, the thespian declared she is focused on 'healing our family' after struggling through a 'pretty hard few years' amid her bitter divorce from Brad, 57.The Tom Raider icon admitted she is still dealing with the fallout from her 2016 split from the actor, but said she finally feels as though her happiness is 'slowly coming back'.
Angelina gave a rare insight into how her life has changed since the end of their romance as she featured in cosy images at her mansion - which she says she bought as it is just five minutes away from the Ocean's Eleven star's house. 'I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away,' the TV and film star said of the sprawling property, which was once owned by late director Cecil B DeMille. The humanitarian has been single ever since they separated in September 2016, following two years of marriage and a 12-year relationship. The exes are said to be 'in a better place' after battling over finances and the custody of their children. The Girl, Interrupted star shared: 'The past few years have been pretty hard. I've been focusing on healing our family. It's slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body.'I'm looking forward to my fifties - I feel that I'm gonna hit my stride in my fifties. Though we were on the trampoline the other day, and the children said, ''No, Mom, don't do that. You'll hurt yourself.'' And I thought, ''God, isn't that funny?'' 'There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I'll hurt myself.'The Unbroken star also touched on her role as the special envoy from the UN Refugee Agency. Angelina said: 'I started in my early twenties, putting on my boots and backpack, and going out to try and figure out what the hell was going on in the world. 'I tried to give myself a broader education than I’d had at school. I grew up in a very empty place, in many ways, so had to go to find a wider understanding.' The Maleficent actress first took on her humanitarian duties following her trip to Cambodia for Tomb Raider back in 2000. She visited the Asian country - where she met and subsequently adopted Maddox with ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton - for a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) field mission. The TV and film star later travelled to Pakistan, where she donated $1 million (£821,980) in response to an emergency appeal. Angelina - who co-founded the Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative nine years ago - has since taken a hands-on approach in promoting a number of causes, including education, women's rights and conservation.

Angelia Jolie has revealed she is focused on 'healing our family' after struggling through a 'pretty hard few years' amid her bitter divorce from Brad Pitt. The 45-year-old actress admitted that she is still dealing with the fallout from her 2016 split from Pitt, 57, but said that she finally feels as though her happiness is 'slowly coming back'. In an interview with British Vogue editor Edward Enninful, Jolie shared some insight into how her life has changed since the end of her marriage, while posing for photos alongside her children at their $25 million Los Angeles home - which she says she bought because it is just five minutes away from Pitt's house. 'I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away,' she said of the sprawling property, which was once owned by late director Cecil B DeMille. The screen star and humanitarian spoke of how 'the ice [is] melting and the blood returning to my body' as she works to heal her family from the tumultuous time. A new black and white shot sees Angelina, dressed in a sleeveless white top, seated at the table as her kids tuck into a delicious meal.Another photo shows the doting mother styling her eldest son Maddox's hair in the bathroom of their LA home. The photos were taken when Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful, caught up with the actress in her LA home to discuss her family and work. The accompanying interview sees Angelina reflecting on her life since the end of her 12-year relationship with Brad. The humanitarian has been single ever since she separated from fellow thespian Brad in September 2016, following two years of marriage. The former couple are said to be 'in a better place' after battling over finances and the custody of their children.Confessing she 'doesn't know' whether she's currently happy, Angelina insisted to Vogue that she has a positive outlook on the future. You'll hurt yourself.'' And I thought, ''God, isn't that funny?'' 'There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I'll hurt myself.'
Angelina insists she doesn't view herself as 'a traditional stay-at-home mum' as she was 'was never very good at sitting still', but she does credit her six kids for 'helping' her motherhood journey. On juggling her career with looking after her kids, the Tomb Raider icon told the publication: 'Well, I was never very good at sitting still.'Even though I wanted to have many children and be a mom, I always imagined it kind of like Jane Goodall, travelling in the middle of the jungle somewhere. I didn't imagine it in that true, traditional sense. 'I feel like I'm lacking in all the skills to be a traditional stay-at-home mom. I'm managing through it because the children are quite resilient, and they're helping me, but I'm not good at it at all.' Angelina filed to absolve her marriage to Brad in 2016, saying in a June 2020 interview with Vogue India that it was for 'the well-being of my family,' adding 'it was the right decision.'It was reported at the time that Pitt had gotten into an alcohol-fueled violent screaming match with Jolie, prompting eldest son Maddox, 19, to defend his mother. Jolie was granted temporary custody over all six children and Brad was granted visitation rights with a court-appointed therapist present. In 2018, a court ruled in favor of Brad after he alleged that Angelina was preventing the children from having a consistent relationship with him. He was given a temporary summer custody that allowed him to spend time with the kids without Jolie present. She then alleged that summer that he had not been paying 'meaningful' child support for over a year, with Pitt retorting that he had loaned Angelina $8M and given an additional $1.8M to help with bills. The custody trial was supposed to begin in November 2018 but the two reached an agreement instead, with ET reporting that it was in the best interest of the children and eliminated the need for a trial.
Pitt was granted less than 50 percent custody of the kids despite wanting equal joint custody, prompting him to continue fighting for what he saw fit in another trial. The pair were ruled 'legally single' in April 2020 but the status did not finalize the divorce or the custody battle. Brad continues to seek joint custody with a trial that was scheduled for October, as he compiled a list of over 20 witnesses to strengthen his case. The couple had already decided that Maddox was not a custody consideration and could decide when he wanted to see Brad as he was no longer a minor. Many details of the trial have been kept under wraps, though a decision was purported to be expected at their next trial which was scheduled for December 21. In her latest interview with Vogue, the Unbroken star also touched on her role as the special envoy from the UN Refugee Agency. Angelina shared: 'I started in my early twenties, putting on my boots and backpack, and going out to try and figure out what the hell was going on in the world. 'I tried to give myself a broader education than I’d had at school. I grew up in a very empty place, in many ways, so had to go to find a wider understanding.'The activist went on to admit she believes the perception of refugees has 'worsened' over time, explaining: 'We speak as if refugees are a burden. But they’ve had to adapt. They have a different skill set, a different look in their eye. 'They’ve confronted their own humanity in such a profound way. They’ve stood up to oppression. We should honour their fight. Honour the people who’ve fled bombs and protected their kids.' Stressing the importance of teaching global citizenship to her kids, she added: 'They are from across the globe. When I see Mad in Cambodia, it’s his home. 'He is a Cambodian man, and at the same time, he is also an American citizen and a global citizen. But it’s not just important for him to go there, it’s important for his siblings to go there, too. 'We’ve been very blessed to have a family of different cultures and races. We are all learning from each other.'The Maleficent star first took on her humanitarian duties following her trip to Cambodia for Tomb Raider back in 2000.
